RE: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rollout question
Isn't it ridiculous that Hammer charges an arm and a leg for any work they do. For systems as large as that one, we just setup a seperate one, connect them back to back and run automated script to burn it in. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com]On Behalf Of William Boehlke Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006

RE: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rolloutquestion
I don't think they are doing it with one Asterisk box. They did say "one rack of servers". Well, that might mean up to 50 computers if they are using blade servers. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com]On Behalf Of John Todd Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006 10:21 PM To:

5,000 concurrent calls system rollout question
Hi, we are currently considering different options for rolling out a large scale IP PBX to handle around 3,000 + concurrent calls. Can this be done with Asterisk? Has it been done before? I really would like an input on this. Thanks! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

RE: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rolloutquestion
There you go. "if it is doing no other work" is key phrase. A lot of PC can do that these days if all it has to do is re-route packets to different destinations, and guess what, if you make sure silence compression is turned on at the endpoints, you can claim even more streams can be passed through. The trict here is how * stores the mapping pair and how effiecent its lookup process is.

RE: Hardware dimensioning issues To: <juanmoyano@southecon.com.ar>
Juan, I am running a Calling Card application on a Dell PowerEdge 2850 with Asterisk 1.0.7. Recording conversations I have seen on my server causes the processors to burn more than necessary so I would recommend what William from Signate recommended: " Consider saving recorded calls in a database on a separate server. It will be simpler to build a retrieval interface that does not

Dell PowerEdge SC420 for Office Implementati on???
Thanks! So aside from the lack of redundancy, will it perform well and scale to utilize a full T1's worth of calls through to the legacy PBX? We would probably build a backup server from old equipment and rsync the configuration files. Seeking Volunteers for an Intro to Asterisk Course
Our company, Signate, is going to be offering a three day introductory Asterisk training course, the first of a series. The first class will be in San Francisco the week of June 28. It will be a beta test to get the kinks out and we will not charge for the class or the materials. Anyone who attends is responsible for their own travel and lodging, if necessary. I doubt anyone reading the lsit

Single or Dual Processor? High volume MeetM e
I'm trying to get a souped-up test machine(G5 Xserve) from Terrasoft to do some testing in a few weeks. If/when I actually get it I'll certainly post the results here. In theory the G5 should mop the floor with the Intel for high-volume Asterisk Zaptel usage, and I have heard from several Mac-heads that they have run three quad T1 digium cards on the Mac platform with no problems.

EL 6 rollout strategies? (Scientific Linux)
I was wondering what feedback might be offered by the CentOS community on their experiences using Scientific Linux? I'm a long-time Centos user, and am basically happy with CentOS. I understand there are delays getting EL 6 out. We have been long anxious to roll out EL 6 as soon as it's ready, but our time window for rollout is looming and we will need to act. Ronald, Grandstream products have a one year warrantee. If you don't have any luck with Pulver, contact us and we can probably get your phones exchanged. Please don't assume that your experience with Grandstream is typical. We sell a lot of these phones and the overwhelming majority of the purchasers are very happy with their units. The quality has improved tremendously over the last

Re: Minimum CPU required for >60 calls
Adam, I thought Andrew Kohlsmith gave the individual good advice without intentionally malaciously spitting in the guys face. For the question, " 'Whats the ' Minimum CPU required for 60 calls? " I think a Pentium 3, high end, which is cheap right now, should do fine, but you will need either 3 T-1s or arrange for the calls to come in via SIP, but you will still need more

sipTAPI and usernames
I have installed the sipTAPI from http://sourceforge.net/projects/siptapi/ when I use user names like joash.herbrink in Asterisk, it is not working when I change the sip username to my internal extension, like 1006, it works fine. Anybody any idea as to why this is? met vriendelijke groet, Joash Herbrink Technical Consultant "Control the flow" De Kahuna groep

advice sought on possible rollout
Hi all, one of our clients have three branch offices currently connected by ADSL lines. they are using Cisco 827-4V units with the FXS ports connected to their aging PBX units. I am thinking of installing an * server in the head office, maybe with an analogue FXO card connected to the PSTN so field officers in Melbourne can call sydney for a local call price. The question is - what Digium

Production-environment AD rollout?
Hey, all. I've used Samba a lot, but took a job about four years ago during which time I've only used it for one-off projects. Looks like I might take a new job, though, and I'll get to call the shots. I'd *love* to have Samba with AD running things, and just have Windows in-place as clients (possibly with Exchange... can't win 'em all). Is this feasible in this day and

So sorry! was: Re: EL 6 rollout strategies? (Scientific Linux)
As the OP for this thread, it saddens me to see that the thread I started has now been used as a forum for behavior of the worst kind seen in professional circles. I'm a longtime user of CentOS and merely wanted to know of users' past experiences transitioning between SL and CentOS. My first experience with CentOS was as a transition from Whitebox to CentOS, and the process was as
