* point to point t1 solution? / alternatives
This has been an interesting discussion for me (except for the sniping). The last post led me, out of curiosity, to this wiki entry: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+TDMoE I was unaware of this feature, and it looks pretty good. I've been pondering replacing some T1's by leveraging IP capacity but of course have run up against the QoS issue. My idea was different... I

T1 to cross connect remote PBX and asterisk
Looking for someone with a successful experience similar to this; I have a need to cross connect a 3COM NBX PBX PRI interface to asterisk, but over a long distance. We do not need any IP connectivity and the solution requires G.711u audio so there is no benefit to using IP. Has anyone here successfully cross connected any PBX PRI interface expecting NI2 PRI signaling B8ZS/ESF with an

Solution for 12 to 16 FXO to asterisk connection
Hi, today a customer asked how to use asterisk with 12 to 16 FXO ports. I can use a channel bank with 16 FXO ports and connect the channel bank with a T1 cable to a T1 card in the Asterisk Server. Asterisk will then send the calls to the Voip provider over the internet. However a 16 fxo port channel bank is about USD 1500 + a t1 card USD 500 + a USD 1000 computer = 3 thousand us dollars + my

TDMoIP and Asterisk
RAD appear to have bucketloads of products which bridge between various interfaces (E1, BRI, POTS) and their own TDMoIP protocol. The attractive thing about them for me is their availability in Australia. The voip wiki says not much about it (http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/TDMoIP), and certainly nothing about if there is any way to get Asterisk to talk TDMoIP. Despite the name, TDMoIP

IP Phone recommendations?
Hey gang, I'm looking at escaping from a Nortel Meridian CISC system to Asterisk/Digium/SIP phones. I'm currently in the testing and proof of concept phase. I'm going to need a SIP phone and don't want to re-purchase and have "orphans" around. We currently run Nortel 7310 phones and they work great. I'm sort of overwhelmed by all of the different IP phones. I

How to use * and # as part of number indialcommand
Michel Send me the same output for a dial string that only sends the *31* Is this an ISDN line? What type of card/signalling/switchtype are you using? It looks as if the PSTN switch accepts the *31* and then hangs up so you can make the NEXT call with the *31* feature enabled. If so I assume the *31* feature will be enabled for the next call on the ENTIRE SPAN if it is an ISDN trunk group. If

quad t1 / 1U rack server combos
It is amazing to me at this point that there is not an official Digium list of supported servers (including 1u models!). Clearly the number 1 issue with the Digium PRI cards is the server that they are used in. The new cards even go as far as listing server that DO NOT work on the Digium site! The wiki references are old and do not have any testing parameters. C'mon guys! Certify a

Pri Gateway Hardware
Does anyone have any experience using a PRI gateway, I am looking for a way to have multiple asterisk boxes use one PRI, and send that over the network. I herd there are copper gateway devices (like a X100P card, only it registers with asterisk using sip, and it doesn't have to be physically connected to the box) Does anyone have any experience with a PRI gateway? And could tell me the cost

MAX PRI for single server (was: Not enoughlinesavailable for Asterisk implemetation)
If you are looking for real high density VOIP termination I would look at > something like a Lucent APX 8000, configure correctly it can pass 2500+ > g.729 calls to the PSTN course we paid lots of $ for ours. > > Chris > Chris, My experience has been that the APX and TNT products require a single SIP proxy, how are you load balancing 2500 calls? If all of the traffic is

Signaling and media
Hi List, Is there a way to tell asterisk to only accept SIP streams from the same IP address that is used for signaling? Thanks, Jean-Michel. -- Jean-Michel Hiver - http://ykoz.net/ D?couvrez la R?union des Technologies IP & Telecom TEL: +262 (0)262 55 03 98 - RCS 434 273 330 SAINT PIERRE

Should I choose DSL @ 1.5 or a full T1?
I'm looking to expand my bandwidth for my Asterisk PBX. Why should I choose a T1 over DSL for my asterisk server? I found someone offering T1's for $290 a month + Loops or 3 Meg for $561 a month + Loops. Is this a good deal? Thanks Bart -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... suggestions on an IP T1 to TDM T1 gateway solution
Can anyone offer up a suggestion on a reliable and cost effective customer premise hardware setup to be able to take an inbound IP T1 and deliver a PRI interface to a remote office? Trying to reduce the amount of hardware required to implement this, right now we use a Cisco router to take the IP T1 in on a serial port and then we go Ethernet to a slimmed asterisk box with a single port T1

any ISDN/PRI signaling experts out there?
I have officially engaged in a pissing contest with the local Telco over PRI calling name delivery. The telco publishes their calling name delivery over PRI feature as being bellcore gr-1367-core compliant. The gr-1367-core spec states that the calling name is to be included as a facility IE in the setup message, or sent in a subsequent facility IE message with an indicator in the setup message

Nortel 81C MSDL Trunking to Asterisk TE110P, Nortel Resetting PRI Channels
We are currently working to trunk from a Nortel 81C to an Asterisk Server 1.4 running on Red Hat Linux. We have two PRI trunks which work with the exception of the clock slips, which is causing the Nortel to reset the PRIs once a hour. RE: Hardware dimensioning issues To: <juanmoyano@southecon.com.ar>
Juan, I am running a Calling Card application on a Dell PowerEdge 2850 with Asterisk 1.0.7. Recording conversations I have seen on my server causes the processors to burn more than necessary so I would recommend what William from Signate recommended: " Consider saving recorded calls in a database on a separate server. It will be simpler to build a retrieval interface that does not

asterisk 1.2 and UDP packet numbering on bridged channels (for jitter buffering)?
http://www.asterisk.org/node/48317 does a nice job of explaining the 1.4 jitter buffer, however it raised a question in my mind. In 1.2 (and also 1.4), when asterisk bridges 2 SIP channels, are the UDP RTP packets renumbered on transmit, or is the original sequence number preserved in the UDP header? A comment is made on the referenced blog that jitter buffering is best implemented at the

wget from within asterisk?
What would be the simplest way to retrieve information form a CNAM database that provides http based query responses? Does an application or script already exist that does this? Basically, I want to do a wget of a URL that contains the callerID number as a variable, and assign the returned text to another variable which can be used to set the caller ID name. Any suggestions?
