Asterisk + AstLinux testing images now available
Hello everyone,
A few days ago on *-dev I proposed the idea of making AstLinux images
on a routine basis as a test platform for Asterisk. The ultimate goal
is to have a web driven interface (accessible to the public) where users
can download the latest and greatest versions of Asterisk (HEAD, STABLE,
and recently 1.2.0-beta*), apply optional patches from Mantis (or
elsewhere), compile

OT: AstLinux 0.2.2 released
Hello Everyone,
I have released AstLinux 0.2.2. There are way too many improvements to
list here, but here is a short summary:
Linux 2.4.27, iptables, mini_httpd (with PHP & SSL), phpconfig,
AstShape traffic shaping, tftp server, OpenSSH, proftpd, Soekris Net4801
and Pentium-MMX and higher x86 support. There is actually WAY more
software, but I couldn't possibly list it all. It

Look at the thread Optimum online-upload throttling
confirmed.
It seems like throttling is done by all Cable
companies and that might affect the VoIP performance,
specially for uploading. Try when the activity in the
cable line is low (i.e. late) and see if it gets
better, or try sending all the data through your DSL
line.

Pictures of the Digium booth at ISPCon 2005
Hello everyone,
Even though a lot of it was a bit last minute, several of us from the
commnunity made it to Baltimore to help Digium with their booth at
ISPCon. It was a great time.
Gregory Boehnlein, Brian Capouch, Christian Savinovich, Kristian
Kielhofner (me), and John Todd (not pictured) were there (as well as
others), and some pictures were taken (the up close ones of me were very

OT: Multi-Format Sound Conversion Utility (and NOT sox, etc)
Hello everyone,
In working with Asterisk on FPU starved hardware like the Soekris
Net4801, it has become clear that it would be very nice to have the
standard Allison sounds that are distributed with Asterisk in multiple
formats. With AstLinux taking 27mb, that leaves a lot of space on a
256mb CF card for sound files!
However, the last thing that I want to do is convert from one lossy

Soekris and Asterisk
Has anyone on the list used a Soekris engineering PC as a TDM - Ethernet
bridge? For example something like a net4801 with a TE110p in it and then
using TDMoE to get it into a bigger server where the call processing proper
will occur.
Anyone know if it might handle a quadspan card ok? (no transcoding, just
pure PRI to TDMoE bridging).

net4801, vpn1411 and "Corrupted MAC on input" with current OpenBSD sshd
I recently installed the April 21st snapshot on my Soekris net4801 (dmesg
here[1]) that has a vpn1411 crypto-accelerator in it. For the first
time, I'm getting a tremendous amount of "Corrupted MAC on input" errors
while sshing into this machine.
While there has been discussion -- going all the way back to 3.5 --
that it's a hardware problem with the net4801 and the

Message File to serial console
Hello,
I am using syslinux to boot a Soekris net4801 into LRP/Lince 1.2 linux. Net4801 has
no video card - it has only a serial port. During bootstrap syslinux writes the text file
syslinux.dpy to the serial port but it breaks the line every 15th character. I tried
syslinux versions 1.66 and 2.11 with same results.

Ciao.

Soekris net4801 and analog interface?
Is anyone using a net4801 and an analog only setup? I am looking for a
modem that is PCI 3.3V, apparently the X100P is 5.0V PCI only so it
won't work with the net4801.

[LLVMdev] Removing old JIT CodeEmitters for ARM and PPC
No. It adds a new event, 'NotifyObjectEmitted'. The Intel JIT listener that I mentioned then uses the emitted object to find the functions (which are all emitted together).
Because of the way that MCJIT is implemented, it isn't really feasible to reconstruct things like the EmittedFunctionDetails in the NotifyFunctionEmitted event.

New AstLinux Branch: RT PREEMPT ("realtime" Linux) - Looking for testers
Hello everyone,
Now that astlinux-trunk has been coming along very nicely, I thought
I would try to add support for hard realtime capabilities to AstLinux.
If everything works (and there are no problems with zaptel), with a
little tweaking this should improve the audio quality on systems with
high loads (and probably any system at that) - especially if it is
finely tuned and has zaptel

AstLinux 0.2.8 released
Hello everyone,
I have just finished up work on a new release of AstLinux, the
embedded/live cd/minimal built from scratch Linux distro centered around
Asterisk.
Most of the work for 0.2.8 has been on the ISO image (live/install cd),
the init system and further system customization with new rc.conf variables.
- The ISO image now allows you to install AstLinux to a local disk/CF
card,
