Aastra 9112i or 9133i Ring Tones
I've been looking at the two phones Aastra 9112i and 9133i for our offices now. I was just curious if anyone could tell me about the ring tones. Specifically: 1) How many ring tones do they come with? 2) Can you upload your own ring tones? 3) If so, what format and how? (wav, mp3, gsm, etc. and TFTP, web management, flash, etc.) Thanks for any help. -- Tim DeBaillie 812-476-2721

UPDATE - Analog Phones with FSK/Stutter MWI
After purchasing the Uniden TRU9480 and then the Panansonic 5672, both of which do not have "phone company" compatible FSK/stutter MWI, I finally got smart and found out just which Panasonic phones have this feature. Only the following 5.8G models in their current line have FXO compatible MWI. I purchased the 5771 unit and one remote. I have confimed it does in fact work with Asterisk

Uniden UIP1868 - any sightings or users?
I've been looking out for the Uniden UIP1868 for a while now, but I haven't seen it anwhere that I'm used to buying things from. According to froogle, a couple of places (that I've never heard of) have a small number in stock (small = 10 in this case). I'm doubly suspicious because even uniden's own online store doesn't have them available yet, not to mention

uniden voip gear
Anyone used any of the Uniden VoIP gear, any comments one how easy it was to integrate with asterisk? Also quality of the gear in general? This unit _looks_ pretty nice on paper http://www.uniden.com/productpop/00_productpop.cfm?prd_code=UIP1868 -- Harondel J. SPA-941 (and others ) Transmit Sound Quality
Hello, This is not exactly an Asterisk question, but I was encouraged to seek advice here anyway. The kindness of the * open source community is legendary :) I am getting going with an Asterisk 1.2 box, and I'm having trouble getting good quality transmit sound using handsets with VoIP phones. I'm primarily trying to focus on SPA-941, but also experimenting with Aastra 9113i and Uniden

Cordless SIP Phones
Can anyone recommend a good cordless user-configurable SIP hardphone that is readily available in the states and doesn't cost $300? There seem to be a plethora of decent and affordable corded phones (like from Grandstream) but the search for a cordless unit seems elusive. I purchased a vtech 8100 online only to discover after receiving it that it is locked to vonage service. Thank you.

Uniden UIP 1868 / Asterisk experiences
Just wondering.. Any experience with the UIP1868 ? I assume that it can handle a single SIP line (can't seem to find the manual at their site :-).. They mention also T38 in their webpage.

T1 to T1 on asterisk?
Hi all, To solve my need for dial in modems, I've hit upon an idea: buy a used T1 "analog" modem bank like a Lucent Portmaster that takes in a T1 and provides several 56K modems. This is overkill for a lightly used dial in service, but the prices of these boxes is so cheap (~$300) with ISPs going away from dial in service that it makes sense. This is how I imagine it would work:

LAN switches with PoE? PoE phones?
Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations on ethernet switches for a new install. Ideally would want switches with at least 24 ports, ideally with a GE uplink, and that support PoE (power over ethernet) on every port. I've seen lots of switches, and lots of "power hubs", but the combination, which makes a lot of sense, seems rare. What is out there? Do the switches need to be

Dial in modem speeds over VoIP?
Hi all, I like to have a dial in modem on my toll free number so that when I or my employees travel, they can always get in for net access to read email if no better method is available. Right now, my Panasonic KX-TD1232D PBX receives the call on a POTS line and routes it to an analog modem. The speeds achieved are around 24 kbps due to the digitization of the KX-TD1232D introducing

MD5 checksum NOT OK on 2.2.5 binary from samba ftp site?
Hello, I ftp'ed the binary RPM for samba from us6.samba.org, and when I tried to verify it, rpm said that MD5 was NOT OK. Has anyone else reported this behavior? Provisioning CO lines
Hi all, This is a NEWBIE question, so all you experienced types that are tired of stupid questions can move on... I've pretty much given up trying to do my entire phone system over IP (including local service), so I have to select and provision my local CO lines. I need about 10-12 lines which can be POTS lines, of course. But, I thought, why not get something digital and expandable

VoIP dialtone?
Hi all, While pondering my choices for local dial tone service via a bunch of POTS lines or a T1, I began to wonder if perhaps there is another way. Are there VoIP dialtone providers? That is, could I use only my internet connection for voice calls and not have a separate T1/POTS bank for that? I guess I am imagining a company that gateways between the PTSN and the internet backbone.

multiline, cordless, expandable phone system and asterisk message waiting
Basically, pretty much all the 2 line cordless systems I've seen come with a built in digital answering system that I'll never use, the main problem with this is that these units don't support VMWI (visual message waiting indicator) with telco supplied voicemail. This is a problem because I'll be setup an Asterisk system in the next month or so to handle my 2 analog and 1

Asterisk phone system plan - for review!
Hi all, I would be most grateful if someone would review my plans for my new phone system and comment on areas of expected trouble and advice on what to do better. Instead of moving our Panasonic KX-TD1232/TVS200 system (ugh...) to our new location, we've decided to jump into IP telephony with *. But we are new to * (but not Linux), so we're trying to learn as much as we can before we

Is Asterisk ready for "real" use?
Okay, I am facing a move in two months to newly renovated space. I have to decide *this week* between: A) Pull LAN and phone cables, prepare to move and expand our "traditional" PBX (Panasonic KX-TD1232 and VPS200). or B) Pull only LAN cables, go VoIP, use Asterisk as PBX. It is *not* an option to purchase a VoIP system package from Cisco, 3com, etc. Installers are getting an

Message light and paging on Zultys ZIP2, Uniden UIP200 time offset
I am trying to get a new Asterisk installation running using a Zultys ZIP2 phone and a Uniden 200 phone. I have the system working reasonably well (although probably not optimal) except for a couple of items. First, I can't get the voice mail message light to work on the Zultys phone but it works just fine on the Uniden phone. Second, the time presented on the Uniden UIP200 phone is 1 hour

I have a mix of Grandstream (GXP2000), Uniden uip-200, Linksys Wireless G, and analog phones via Adtran chan bank. When I went to * 1.4.13, the Uniden phones stopped being able to login to voicemail. All phones are on same lan with Asterisk. I get 'Login incorrect'
