Autostart Asterisk on Slackware?
Maybe trivial question, but I cannot find an answer:
How to autostart Asterisk (daemon) on Slackware 10? I know that I should
put something in /etc/rc.d, but what?

[ANNOUNCE] iproute2 2.6.22-070710
This is an update to iproute2 utilities including bug fixes and features
related to 2.6.22 kernel.
This package tries to be source compatible across releases.
The same source should build on older systems, but obviously the
newer kernel features won''t be available.
It can be downloaded from:

Install app_rxfax and app_txfax in 1.4 with Lenny
Hi,
I've read README file in agx-ast-addons-1.4.17.5.tar.bz2
It says "Install libTiff >=3.8 and <4.0"
Should you really use this agx-ast-addons to get app_rxfax and app-_txfax
running with latest 1.4.22 ?
If positive, should you take this libtiff warning into account ?
If positive, where can you find such libtiff version as Debian repository (I
didn't check alternate

extra-sounds 1.4.5 timestapmed newer than 1.4.6 ???
Hello All , I'd usually just take the latest timestamped tarballs & use
them , But this has gotten me a tad setback .
I want to build astersik-1.4.1 & I am not sure which of these is going
to work correctly . Anyone else have a better idea than me ?

About DNS again

I have got a couple of messages stating that I am wrong and that the
resolver vulnerability sent to list by Oliver Friedrichs (oliver@secnet.com)
is a new one. Our discussion with Oliver outlined that even though it is
possible that this vulnerability was discussed during BOFs at conferences
such as LISA, SANS and NETSEC,

Upgrade to Asterisk 1.4 - it's one year's old!
Friends in the Asterisk community,
I'm kind of interested in the slow uptake of Asterisk 1.4. Between 1.2
and 1.4 there's been a lot of
important development. New code cleanups, optimization, new functions.
I realize that 1.4 at release time wasn't ready for release, but we've
spent one year polishing it,
working hard with bug fixes. The 1.4 that is in distribution now is

NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED with winbindd authentication
Hi,
We're running a print server having the following specifications:
Samba 3.0.11

A few days back none of the users were able to log onto the print

Using Linux Virtual Midi with WINE does not work
Hi,
I have recently started using WINE with the wineasio driver to run my Windows audio apps. In Windows I did a lot of work using MIDI Yoke (a virtual 'MIDI cable' driver). The Linux equivalent is the snd-virmidi ALSA driver. I find, however, that WINE does not send MIDI messages throught the virmidi ports to Linux Apps.
I have tried this on Ubuntu 8.04 and Puppy Linux 4.0 using WINE

RE: Asterisk-Users Digest, Vol 7, Issue 323
I fear that list digest did not forward to me all the messages...
buying cell phone adapters is quite unfeasible at this point, since the
installation at hand uses 8 BRI for outgoing calls, and the customer
negotiated very special rates for handling all the traffic through his voice
carrier. Moreover, in italy you have 4 cell phone operators, and you should
add a bunch of call phone adapters for

Re: new_callback_call and conf disconnect
We are using G711 for phones to talk to Asterisk and G729 licenses at
asterisk to talk to ITSP
Could you please suggest transcoder to use from G711 and G729 and which is
comptible with Asterisk. We will like to avoid using TDM if possible
Also i remember that initially we didn't have G729 and were using only 711
for with vicidial but then also we had same problems. at that time it was

Keyboard Interactive Attack?
I read an article today about keyboard interactive auth allowing bruteforcing.
I'm afraid I have minimal understanding of what keyboard-interactive really does. What does it do, and should I have my clients set it to off in sshd_config?

pretty for a log-axis
Is there a function that does the same as pretty but on a log-scale?
Suppose you have
x <- exp( runif( 100, 0, 6 ) )
(which will between 1 and 403), then I would like to have a result like:
log.pretty( x )
[1] 1 5 10 50 100 500

R-alpha: plot(1); axis(1, at=10) >>> Seg.fault -- and a patch
This problem has been mentioned by Arne Kovac <maak@stats.bris.ac.uk> on May 9-10.
The patch is really a replacement of 'axis' in RHOME/src/library/base/funs/
It contains the fixes which where proposed Arne Kovac
and fixes (all?) the errors he/she (?) reported on May 9.
"axis" <-
function (which, at, labels = TRUE, ...)

Reversing axis in a log plot (PR#7894)
Full_Name: Christian Marquardt
Version: 2.1.0
OS: Linux (Redhat 9)
Submission from: (NULL) (151.170.240.10)
Following the advice of a reader of R-help, I would now like to submit this as a
bug report:
Say we have
x = seq(1,3, by = 0.01)
y = exp(x)
Plotting and reversing linear axis is fine
plot(x,y)
plot(x,y, ylim = c(30,1))
as is a usual log-plot:
plot(x,y, log =
