Recommend Fax Hardware for T1 PRI
I have posted this to the Asterisk Forums, but
got no response yet. Sorry if you are reading
this for the second time.
What fax hardware do I need for a T1? Ideally, I
will switch my T1 to a digital PRI (not CAS I'm
told, which is not as good) coming into the
building. My CLEC said I can do this switch no
problem. I have an analog T1 coming in now.

Qs about FXO/FXS cards
Hello.
I am going to be putting together my first * system using FXO/FXS
interfaces. All the systems I have set up thus far have been pure VoIP
setups.
The system I need to set up should have 3 FXO interfaces and 1 FXS
interface, as well as several SIP phones. I have noticed people
complaining about Digium's TDM cards - are these isolated incidents or
are these cards unreliable? I intend to

Help - is voip good for in-house calls?
Hi there everyone!
I work at an office where we plant to have about 12-15 phone
extensions. Costs of PBX are cheaper, but they are not expandable and,
as the office is brand new, I want to use all modern stuff.
My question is: if I buy 12-15 Grandstream Budgetone 101 phones, and
install and asterisk server, as well as a Digium TDM400 for POTS
access, will I have the same voice quality and

Three (quick?) questions...
[Please excuse if this is a repeat; I initially tried to send it from a
different account, and it's been held up for a couple of days awaiting
moderation.]
1) What's the absolute minimum required (hardware-wise) in order to get one
in-bound POTS line into Asterisk, and then have IP phones "inside?"
[In other words, I obviously need a NIC -- but what would be the

Newbie just starting out with *
Hey all...I'm brand new to * and I want to convert my home into a pbx
type setup. I've figured out that I want a Wildcard X100P to bring my
single POTS CO into my Linux box. My problem is that I'm sure sure what
I need to do to get my analog phones connected up into a structured
phone system. It *looks* like I can go the route of the Cisco Analog ->
VOIP for about $100 on ebay.

Future installation questions - what do I need?
I currently have a Toshiba Strata DK424 with a Stratagy voicemail system
(4 ports). I am looking to go from having a receptionist answering the
phone to an automated attendant. It appears that Asterisk can be the
solution, but I have some questions. Do I just replace the Stratagy
with the Asterisk or do I need to reconfigure the routing of the phone
lines? Currently, the POTS lines come in to

adding DNIS digits
Situation:
8 POTS lines, 3 companies, 1 system. Channel banking the POTS lines
onto a T1 thru an ADIT 600.
The only way our carrier will provide DNIS is thru Analog DID #'s.
Anyone know of a piece of hardware that can add DNIS digits to a
particular line?

FXS Solutions for modems and other non jitter tolerant devices
In the past we have used Adtran Atlas 550's to break out FXS ports for
devices like modems. The great thing about the 550 is that internally it
is all TDM so there is absolutely zero latency.
We are able to use ATA's for faxes and analog phones but devices that use
modems, they fail 99.99% of the time when using an ATA.
We tried to migrate to TA908 devices; they have FXS ports built

RE: Hardware dimensioning issues To: <juanmoyano@southecon.com.ar>
Juan,
I am running a Calling Card application on a
Dell PowerEdge 2850 with Asterisk 1.0.7.
Recording conversations I have seen on my server
causes the processors to burn more than necessary
so I would recommend what William from Signate
recommended:
" Consider saving recorded calls in a database on a
separate server. It will be simpler to build a
retrieval interface that does not

Analog modems behind an Asterisk server?
Hello, we would like to hook up analog modems behind an Asterisk server,
and we're very interested in the experiences that others have made when
attempting that. We assume that there are no inherent problems with
modems in respect to the Asterisk software, but it appears that the
FXO/FXS hardware restricts this kind of a setup to lower data
transmission rates, is this correct?
Currently,

Static on TDM Zaptel FXO
Hello All,
I recently put in a zaptel 1fxo/1fxs card. I am experiencing heavy
static.
Even with the pots line disconnected, if I do a dial I still get static.
This way I know it's not the line, but rather something on the card.
I tried alternate pci slots.
This card has a power connector, does anyone know what the power
requirements are? The unit is in a small case with a 2.4ghz p-4 and

four wildcards in a single pc
Hi.
Please excuse me asking this again. But it really puzzles me.
We're installing asterisk at a branch office at NJ (HQ is at
Petach-Tikva)
It'll need to support 5 POTS lines, 11 analog extensions and four VOIP
phones.
I wanted to go with a T1 card from digium and a channel bank, but we
have a dead line. It has to be up and running by January 1st.
I don't have the time to start

Hardware for PBX with 4 incoming/outgoing lines and 20 phones
Hi
I am interested in setting up an Asterisk PBX in my office with digium
hardware, and I just have a few questions in regards to what I would
need. It is my understanding that an FXO card is used to interface with
an incoming/outgoing phone line, and an FXS card is used for interfacing
with a phone within the system. Currently we have 4 incoming/outgoing
phone lines and would like to have

Current echo status?
I've been following the list for months, and I have a working Asterisk
setup, but it'd be *really* useful to me at this point if someone could
summarize when Asterisk has echo problems and when it doesn't. For
instance, I usually hear a far-end echo when talking on my 7940, but
not when using a POTS phone plugged into a TDM400 FXO port. It doesn't
seem to matter if the call

Newby question. Basic structure
Hi all.
I've being reading posts from the list since yesterday and I feel this
question was answered a lot time ago, but the list archives are a mess
(yet). I hope some one is willing to help me out.
I want to set up this:
caller ----- PSTN ---- (SOMETHING1) ------ VoIP --------- (SOMETHING2)

I think this must be a very basic architecture, but I'm not sure wat

HOWTO/FAQ question (Location: Sweden)
Sorry for this. This is most likely a HOWTO or FAQ question, but
it's so much information and documentation to wade through so
I hope someone could take a minute to answer anyway.
If not, no worries. I'll get to it sooner or later :)
I'm trying to understand what Asterisk actually is and the basic
workings... I think I've understand what I need to get going,
except one thing.

UK install
Well I'm slowly learning my way around asterisk although as yet I
haven't had the chance to actually hook the system up to an ISDN line.
I am going to migrate from an Argent Office setup. My only problem is
keeping costs down on the phones.
The Argent system is running about 30 POTS phones. Can someone suggest
the cheapest option? Should I get some kind of large scale FXS box or

Major problems with TDM400 and specific telephones: suggestions?
Hello!
Attached to the bottom of this e-mail is an edited version of an e-mail I
originally wrote to Digium tech support regarding Ouch and Power alarm
errors I have been receiving on my TDM400. It contains a great deal of
detail regarding my setup. In the end, I have found that one of the 5
phones I'm trying to make work with Asterisk is contributing to the
generation of these errors.

TDM400P lockups (FXO)
Hey all - we have two TDM400P cards in an SMP Redhat9 box, with 4 FXO
ports each running thel latest Asterisk CVS.
Users connect to this to share POTS lines using analog phones connected
to Sipura SPA-2000 boxes. All works reasonably well, except every day
(or more) a line will get "locked up". No other way to describe it
really -- the line just stops working, so if someone tries
