Public vs. Private Network
Hello - I am looking at connecting 7 - 10 locations together using Asterisk and possibly some VoIP gateway appliances. I need to insure best voice quality as these trunks will be used primarily for customer calls. I am considering implementing a full T1 frame relay circuit to each location which can be done for a reasonable cost. DSL and Cable are currently at each location and setup for

Asterisk bounty PRI 2B channel transfer for NI2 PRI line
Maintainer: Express Line Date opened: January 17, 2006 Status: Open Value of bounty: $5000.00 Licensing for code: We retain intellectual rights to the underlying source code. We need Asterisk (stable version) to be able to perform a 2B channel transfer for a NI2 B8ZS PRI line. We can't use a channelized T1 at the time for our work. This feature is commonly called a call transfer on analog

T1 versus PRI
Hello All, I was wondering. What are the primary advantages to using a PRI over a T1? As I understand it, the PRI terminates very fast, meaning you can do immediate answer and dial... This is very handy on the BRI line I have on the asterisk. Can T1 signalling also do immediate answer, or does it just behave like a channelized pots line and ring as usual? I am trying to determine if I should

T1-PRI deployment questions...
I am ordering T1-PRI service from local service provider and have a few questions. Is there framing and coding considerations (or is it all one standard), if so what is best? How are calls routed based on DIDs - are these just dtmf tones passed after the call is picked up and treated as normal exten=> definitions? Help! Echo problem even at T1 PRI?
Hello, We have an asterisk setup at our client's site using a TE205P. The line to telco is a 23 channels T1 PRI, however the line has random echo problems (about 5-10% of the calls)! Can anybody tell me if echo cancellation is really needed even at a T1 PRI to the telco? Because people keep saying when they deploy voip solution in Hong Kong using T1 PRI, there is no need of echo cancellation.

Ideal setup for PRI/T1 and TE110P
Hi all, I'm sure something similar has been discussed, but one can only wade through the archives for so long. I'm setting up a T1 and my telco has a bunch of questions it wants me to answer. I know much of the TE110p is configurable to do any of this, but I wanted to know if there is an optimal or preferred setup. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the quiz my telco is giving me:

Problem with DTMF 'looping' / mis-dials (X100P card)
Hi all, I'm having a problem with * being very finicky about the length of DTMF key-presses during menus, voicemail, etc. Basically, short (<100 ms) tones are ignored, anything between 100ms (or so) and about 300ms is correctly detected, and anything >300ms is interpreted as multiple presses of the same key. This is terrible for callers who are trying to get to the correct

Help with T1 PRI Configuration
I'm ordering a PRI T1 for use with Asterisk and a Digium Wildcard TE405P. The provider is asking me a number of questions about how I want to configure the line. Here goes: 1. Dial Tone - No, Yes - Precise, Yes - SCC 2. Framing - SF, ESF 3. Line Coding - AMI, B8ZS 4. Signaling Type - Ground Start, E&M, Loop Start w/Ring, Loop Start w/o Ring 5. Pulse Mode - DTMF, MF 6. Outpulse Start -

Can anybody recommend a good T1/PRI provider ?
Are you looking for local or Long distance? What will these T1s primarily be used for(inbound/outbound, domestic, local, long distance, international) How important are per minute rates to you? how many minutes do you expect to use per month? We are in Tampa Florida and have 15 T1s from several different providers so I may be able to refer you to one if it's a match to what you're

Non-PRI T1 configuration
I'm trying to hook up a non-PRI fractional T1 using a T400P port. The Telco says that it is provisioned as AMI with SF (not ESF) and that they are signalling by "sending down a straight DS1" (I'm not sure what exactly that means). They are also sending DNIS over these channels. I currently run it through a channel bank for my IVR application and it works fine but I am now

McLeod Integrated T1 - no PRI?
Hello everyone, We have recently turned up a new T1 from McLeod (Midwestern CLEC). It is configured like so: /etc/zaptel.conf: loadzone=us defaultzone=us span=1,0,0,esf,b8zs ;(also tried 1,1,0,esf,b8zs) bchan=13-23 nethdlc=1-12 dchan=24 /etc/zapata.conf: switchtype=national context=pri-in signalling=pri_cpe group=1 channel => 13-23 I can get hdlc0 (and pvc0) up just fine after the

Long call setup with non-PRI T1
We have 2 T1's coming from our phone switch to a digium TE220B. We have managed to get CPN and the extension outpulsed from the switch, but call setups are really slow. Our T1's are set up as E&M Wink, and they send us the last 5 digits dialed followed by the 10 digit calling party number (we couldn't get the switch to be happy with *CPN*+5* to use featd). We are using asterisk

PRI/T1 data rate...
Hi all, First, this is not my first PRI/T1 Asterisk deployement. Did several with Bell, Telus, AllStream, Rogers but this is my first with Videotron. Just spoke with the person taking the order and on top of the standard settings (switch, coding,...) she asked me about data rate (56k or 64k). Since I have never been asked this question before and can find anything relevant in the

T1 E&M vs PRI question
Ok, I'm about to take the plunge, and am trying to decide between Channelized T1 E&M and PRI. I'm getting an "Integrated T1" which will have data and voice capability, all plugged directly into my digium single T1 card. In either case the data piece looks pretty straighforward, just setup the channel properly, hand it off to the linux hdlc layer, and route away.... the

Xorcom T1 to PRI
Hi, I have a client that has a 24 channel voice T1 that I have been using e&m signalling over for a number of years. The local telco finally got an ISDN switch and wants to move them to PRI. I didn't see this as a big problem - I've done a few others on this particular Caribbean island without issues, but this would be the first time with a Xorcom unit involved. We tried to do

No audio on Zap (T1/PRI) channels
I have 12 T1's going into 3 servers, 4 in each into "Digium, Inc. Wildcard TE410P Quad-Span togglable E1/T1/J1 card 3.3v (rev 02)" cards. Each "group" of T1's have the primary D on 24 and the secondary D on 96. The first server (ts20) and the last server (ts22) can playback "demo-congrats" fine. The "middle" server (ts21) cannot -- just dead air.

T1 vs PRI
Hi, I'm buying an interface for my Toshiba DKT424 to connect to *. Initially it is a trial to route internal calls over our wan. Think of it as a tie trunk between 2 pbxs. I expect to get PRI from the telco our layout will be like this: telco_T1_PRI to * to various PBX or TDM or IAX to * to other pbxs My question is, is there benefits to connecting with PRI over a standard T1 within my
