Migrate from RHAS 4 to CentOS 4.2
I have a SGI Altix 350 (ia64) that came with RHAS 4, but without any
paid support. I would like to migrate the server over to CentOS.
Here is what I've pieced together from some older posts by Johnny,
can someone confirm this should work? I know this is somewhat
covered in the FAQ, although both entries refer to FC or WBEL, which
already have built-in yum support.

Postgrey and Centos 4.2
Hi,
We have implemented postgrey (postgrey-1.24, compiled from source package)
on a centos 4.3 server.
It works except for the whitelistings, in file postgrey_whitelist_clients,
no matter what domain we enter, their incoming mails gets greylisted.
I have posted this question to postgrey list but have not received
anything yet.
I works OK on a centos 4.1 server.
Has anyone experienced similar

TLS timeout with Thunderbird
I'm trying to get dovecot working with various clients on my new
mailserver. I installed the base rc2 that comes with OpenBSD 4.0,
then upgraded to rc14 when I ran into problems with TLS and
Thunderbird. The server has no problems with Mail.app on my laptop,
but any connection attempts from Thunderbird timeout after the TCP
handshake.

Iptables hangs at shutdown
Hi all-
I have a Centos 3.6 server in production that hadn't been rebooted in
quite some time. I was finally onsite today and took the chance to
reboot into the most current kernel, but the box hung while
"stopping iptables". Some Googling led me to one or two reports of
systems hanging while the iptables initscript unloaded the modules.
Has anyone else encountered this?

Kernel panic on Dell 1850
I'm attempting to upgrade to kernel-smp-2.4.21-27.0.4.EL (x86_64) on a
Dell 1850. The new kernel is panicing on reboot. When comparing
against the current working kernel, I just noticed that we're currently
running the "UP" kernel:

postgrey, postfix, tld list
Hello all,
I am looking for the correct way to add postgrey to my system but
whitelist everything except for com, org, and net domains.
Most of my spam is from .info domains.
There seems to be no way to only go after certain domains, instead
postgrey wants to go after everything except what you whitelist.
So my idea was to whitelist .com, .net, .org, .gov, and a few others
while greylisting

Linking against a specific Berkeley DB install
I sent this question to the OpenLDAP list yesterday, but I still haven't
seen the message come across the list. I am asking here in the hopes of
getting a faster response.
I am trying to compile OpenLDAP 2.3.11 from source on CentOS4. I have the
rpm for db4-4.2.52-7.1 installed and also a source build of BerkeleyDB in
/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.4.
How do I get OpenLDAP to link with the bdb

NTP on CentOS 3.4
Running CentOS 3.4, I enabled the ntpd service and noticed that it
opens up a hole in the firewall for ntp from 127.127.1.0. I look in
the ntpd initscript and see that it's reading in servers from
/etc/ntp/step-tickers. However, that file is empty...
/etc/ntp/ntpservers contains clock.redhat.com and clock2.redhat.com,
but ntpservers isn't used *anywhere*.
This looks like a bug, but

Possible new CentOS user (currently WBEL)
Hi,
For a few months i've been using WhiteBox Enterprise Linux.
In fact, i've migrated all my companie's servers (about 20) to this RHEL
distro like.
Well, it's not that i'm not satisfied, but WBEL is a one man show and
that causes me some preocupation. And besides, it seems to me that it
can't stand up to the rythm RHEL evolves.
That's why i'm writing to you,

Postgrey not working
Hi,
I have a working installation of Postfix and Dovecot that works nicely.
I've added SpamAssassin, which does a good job of flagging spam. Now I
wanted to add greylisting to my server.
Here's what I did.
$ sudo yum install postgrey
Increase the greylisting delay.
# /etc/sysconfig/postgrey
POSTGREY_OPTS="--delay=300"
Edit /etc/postfix/main.cf accordingly.

Short postgrey guide?
Hi Guys,
Are you interested in a brief guide on how to set up postgrey (anti-spam
greylisting) with postfix? I set it up today and it took me a while to
get it working as the config is slightly different from that on many of
the googled guides (many are debian/ubuntu based). The darn config file
lives in /etc/sysconfig on RH/CentOS rather than /etc/default as
mentioned in all the guides I

problem talking to server postgrey/socket: Permission denied
Hi folks,
I have installed postgrey from the rpmforge repo, but it does not work well
with postfix from CentOS 5.2: I always get the error:
warning: connect to postgrey/socket: Permission denied
problem talking to server postgrey/socket: Permission denied
But the permissions on the socket seem okay (postfix could write to it):
srw-rw-rw- 1 postgrey postgrey 0 4. Okt 14:48 socket

using new sysconfig file
I installed postgrey from rpmforge and wanted to use sysconfig to change
options instead of overwriting the init file. However, I get a weird
warning from postgrey. I'm not sure if this is a postgrey quirk or I use
sysconfig the wrong way.
/etc/sysconfig/postgrey:
OPTIONS="--unix=/var/spool/postfix/postgrey/socket --delay=660"
/etc/rc.d/init.d/postgrey:

Postgrey on CentOS 6
Hi,
I administer a postfix mail server on CentOS 6.
Now I want to setup another with similar configuration.
But the postgrey package is no longer available in Epel
for this CentOS release as I have seen now:

to get security patches again or is it not critical to
