Clamd and Amavis
I'm trying to get amavis to play using clamd and tried to follow this: # ### http://www.clamav.net/ ['ClamAV-clamd', \&ask_daemon, ["CONTSCAN {}\n", "/var/run/clamav/clamd"], qr/\bOK$/, qr/\bFOUND$/, qr/^.*?: (?!Infected Archive)(.*) FOUND$/ ], # # NOTE: run clamd under the same user as amavisd, or run it under its own # # uid such as clamav, add

clamd@amavisd fails under systemd
Trying to set up a mail server under CentOS7 - having done this with CentOS5 and CentOS6 over the last decade with no issues and reliable service, it was time to upgrade (?) to CentOS7. Shouldn't be a problem, right? Getting to grips with systemd has been challenging - to say the least. So a brief overview of what I am trying to set up: postfix / amavisd-new / spamassassin / clamav so we

More on amavis/clam permission errors on Centos 6.3
I should probably find either the amavis or clam list(s) and take this there? Anyway, I have totally rebuilt my machine with clean installs. I have spent time carefully (I hope!) studying the amavis and clamav conf files before starting them and running the tests. Here is what I am getting: Jan 30 14:14:10 test1 postfix/pickup[6682]: DA8082A099B: uid=0 from=<root> Jan 30 14:14:10

/var/amavis
Hello all, My /etc/group is not quite in order (a long story), and now I need to correct privileges right here and there. I would ask someone who has amavisd-new to show me the corresponding listing as this: [root at mail amavis]# ls -l /var/amavis total 20 -rw-r----- 1 amavis 500 0 Oct 13 15:05 amavisd.lock -rw-r--r-- 1 amavis mail 5 Oct 13 11:06 amavisd-milter.pid srwxr-xr-x 1 amavis

Amavis on Centosl help
I'm moving from Ubuntu to CentOS 7 Previously, on Ubuntu, installing amavisd would lead to etc/amavis/conf.d that contained: 01-debian 05-domain_id 05-node_id 15-av_scanners 15-content_filter_mode 20-debian_defaults 21-ubuntu_defaults 25-amavis_helpers 30-template_localization 40-policy_banks 50-user However installing amavisd on centos leads to a spaghetti config file (i.e.

spamassassin, postfix with dovecot lda?
Hi all, I am trying to setup a mail server using postfix (virtual_mailboxes), spamassassin and dovecot, along with SQL where appropriate. From my research so far I realized that, for several reasons, it is required for me to use dovecot LDA instead of maildrop, local, procmail or other alternatives. My configuration was working flawlessly, until spamassassin per-user configuration came to

Email pid issue
Hello gents, First time poster here! Current system running Centos 6.8. Buddy of mine posted a few days back about me wanting to move from Postfix 2.6.x to 2.8 to above, still under centos 6.8. I might move over to 7, but probably not for a while, don't have the resources presently to make this happen. Running Centos 6.8, postfix 2.6.6, clamav 0.99.1. Basic Centos 6.8 box fully patched

*very* raw script for a new email server
All, I'm putting up a new email server, but I can't afford downtime when I switch servers. So, I've been writing a script that will take a CentOS install and turn it into a secure email server with Spam Assassin, Amavis-new, ClamAV and external relay using SASL authentication. The script is still *very* raw, and I'm relatively new to bash script writing. I still have some

New mailserver problems
Well, in part we will see if you get this and I get the return. I JUST launched my new mail server after a few miscues. Actually the OS is Redsleeve6, which is the arm port of Centos 6, and perhaps some of my problems may come down to porting problems. But first, it may be that despite my testing, I missed something in the configurations. First clamd problems: Nov 19 08:09:54 z9m9z

clamd / amavisd missing socket
I think something along these lines appeared before but I was unable to find them. I'm on a 7.6 system, been running clamav and amavisd-new since 6 days with little problem. On a recent reboot, clamd at amavisd does not start up and fails manual start. The problem seems to be the missing socket that connects the pair, "/var/run/clamd.amavisd/clamd.socket". I believe this should

sendmail and spamassassin
I have a problem getting spamd and sendmail (both stock CentOS4 rpms) to work together on a couple of smtp relay machines. This is clearly a configuration issue and no doubt revolves around my lack of comprehension of how this is to work. Basically, the setup consists of two frontend public smtp transports that redirect all email through a firewall to an internal imap server for final

How to extract one file from rpm using yum?
I want to get the original version of /etc/clamd.d/amavis.conf from the amavisd-new rpm to get the defaults to submit a bug report. I could not figure out how to do this, so I did a reinstall, but it did not replace this file (whatprovides says it comes from this rpm). Is there a way to extract just the one file, and better yet, place it elsewhere than its regular destination? thanks

Postfix , Dovecot & the Spam fight
Hi, I'm currently busy with a substiution of my current mail server. I'm currently using * Clam-SMTP and * SpamAssassin to fight Spam. I wonder if it is worth implementing AmaViS with SpamAssassin backend instead and also using AmaViS to speak to clamd directly. But I more and more wonder wether AmaViS is even worth it?! It currently looks to me as if AmaViS is eating LOTS of
