RPy
I'm curious if there are users of RPy on this list. I've recently
created a gui front end using Tkinter for some python scripts I've
written for some of our internal operations and I am quite pleased with
how this program works.
I wonder if it is possible to also get this gui to run R functions
through the use of RPy. Going even a step further, I wonder if it is
possible to get this

Anybody ever done 6 monitors on one server before? :)
My boss wants to put together a Network Operations Center, with a
network monitoring server as the centerpiece. He wants that server to
have 6 monitors: 4 for network monitoring tools (rrdtool, etc) and two
for running commands and the like (ping, traceroute, etc).
I know that with the right video card(s) you can have two monitors, but
has anybody had 6?
Thanks!

Red Hat Legal Targets www.centos.org website content
To squelch the questions (related to the changing content on
www.centos.org), I decided this needs to be published.
The CentOS Team has been contacted by representatives of Red Hat's hired
legal team regarding the use of Red Hat Trademarks on www.centos.org.
(Full Email follows.) While the CentOS team feels we are using Red
Hat's marks in a fair and legal manner, we have no choice

Shrinking a ext3 filesystem ?
I installed CentOS on my home-server with 2 IDE 160GB MAXTOR HDD /
RAID-1, LVM and ext3 partitions. Previous OS on this machine was FC2.
I often "play" with LVM and, sometimes, have to extand or reduce some
volumes size. I was surprised to see that resize2fs isn''t included
anymore !
The replacing tool is ext2online but this one seems to only be able to
grow a filesystem (not

Me again, about the horrible documentation of tcltk
How on Earth can I know what are the arguments of any of the functions of
the tcl/tk package? I tried hard to find, using all search engines
available, looking deep into keywords of R, python's tkinter and tcl/tk, but
nowhere I found anything remotely similar to a help.
For example, what are the possible arguments to tkgetOpenFile?
I know that this works:
library(tcltk)

permanent ulimit -n on CentOS 3.4
Hi!
Question from the novice.
I have to permanently increase number of opened files ( ulimit -n 16384 and
ulimit -Hn 16384) for some application.
I did custom kernel based on
https://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-3-Manual/sysadmin-guide/s1-custom-kernel-modularized.html
and application documentation ( written for RH 9), no error during all makes
but I have panic during the

*very* raw script for a new email server
All,
I'm putting up a new email server, but I can't afford downtime when I
switch servers. So, I've been writing a script that will take a CentOS
install and turn it into a secure email server with Spam Assassin,
Amavis-new, ClamAV and external relay using SASL authentication.
The script is still *very* raw, and I'm relatively new to bash script
writing. I still have some

Updating the DVD ISO howto?
I seem to remember this being addressed before, but I can't find the
howto anywhere.
I've got a friend heading to another country with VERY limited
bandwidth. He'd like me to update the 4.4 DVD to include all of the
updated RPMS from updated.
Where can I find the scripts to update the meta data on the RPMS and
create a new bootable DVD?
Thanks!

Mod_Throttle for Apache 2?
We have some custom software that is put out on our 6
clustered(balanced) webservers. Every 5 minutes that software checks
into our server for a new version, if there is a new version it
downloads it (20MB file). This happens about 2-3 times per month.
Currently there are over 10000 clients that need to download the
update. Up until this past week we were able to handle the load and

Help request: Parsing docx files for key words and appending to a spreadsheet
Thanks Ivan and Calum
I continue to appreciate your support.
Calum, I entered the code snippet you provided, and it returns 'file
missing'. Looking at this, while the object 'full_filename' exists, what
is happening is that the path from getwd() is being appended to the
title of the article, but without the '/' between the end of the path
name (here 'TEST' and

LinuxWorld Expo Update
Well, the first day was interesting. We a variety of questions from
why do we do this, what's going on with RH, how come this is the first
I've heard of you. And hundreds more. The good thing is that we've
recieve a very positive response from everyone that visited our booth.
Such a positive response that all our CentOS CD's are gone, and most
of the cAos CD's are gone, and

JPackage, Java 1.5.0, and CentOS 5?
Hey, y'all.
I don't know how many folks here are familiar with a blogging program
called 'pebble' http://pebble.sourceforge.net, but it's *supposed* to be
an easy drop-in to a tomcat5 container. I suppose that it is, once I
figured out how to get tomcat 5 working in CentOS 5, but I'm still
having problems with the java.
CentOS comes with Java 1.4.2, but I need Java

Raid tools for hardware raid?
Okay, this is probably a stupid question, but here goes:
We've got a database server that I'm going to wipe clean and install the
latest OS. It's running 2.1 right now, and it has a hardware raid.
I've found lots of stuff on software raid tools, but are there any tools
on hardware raid?
We've got another box, an IBM AS/400, and when one of it's raid disks

system-config-bind?
I'm trying to move our bind-8 from a redhat 9 box to a bind-9 on a
CentOS-4 box. I'm not as good as I'd like to be in bind, so I thought
I'd use the configuration tool. But I can't find it!
I've tried yum search system-config-bind, googling, everything I can
think of. Is the tool just plain gone?
Thanks!
