64 bits machines
Hello,
I would like to know whether is possible to install R in a Itanium 64
bits computer. We cannot neither compile source code because we have
Intel compilers.
Specifically, we have an Intel Itanium II, Linux Red Hat 64 bits and
Intel Fortran and C compilers: ifort, icc.
Thanks

CentOS 5 64-bits support (desktop environment)
Hello,
Does CentOS 5 use a better approach to 64-bits and 32-bits packages
existing on the same machine?
How is Upstream package selection comparing 32-bits and 64-bits editions?
Should we expect third-party repositories (mainly rpmforge) to better
support 64-bits packages?
I want to figure out if I should use CentOS/RHEL 5 x86_64 in desktop
environment.

centos 64 bit
Hello all,
I am running CentOS 5.6 64 bit.
When running "yum -y install ncurses-devel",
I expect that only ncurses 64 bit version will be installed.
However, actually both i386 and x64 are installed,
that made me unhappy :)
ncurses-devel-5.5-24.20060715.i386.rpm
ncurses-devel-5.5-24.20060715.x86_64.rpm
Is there anything worng here?
Regards,
Nguyen Vu Hung.

[LLVMdev] llc -march=ia64 support
You are right, the machine I am on is a AMD Opteron. I could probably
generate working code for x86, but I am testing the implications of
using 64 bits integers. The four weeks is not really important, it's
just that it would be nice to have really fast code to showcase.
Something related to this: to test the effect of 64 bits integers I
replace all reference of int by long in my .ll file.

Intel/64 CentOS VM running on a Mac M1?
My Dell Precision M3800 running Fedora works great but is really starting to
show its age, and I'm thinking about getting a new Mac M1-based laptop as it
would really be useful for Video production.
But I really need to have a IA64 CentOS 7/8 VMs running locally for
development as I'm often on the road and flaky Internet makes it a necessity to
keep productivity up. I've been

[rfc] [patch] 32/64-bit hypercall interface revisited
Last year we had a discussion[1] about how the hypercall ABI
unfortunately contains fields that change width between 32- and 64-bit
builds. This is a huge problem as we come up on the python management
stack for ppc64, since the distributions ship 32-bit python. A 32-bit
python/libxc cannot currently manage a 64-bit hypervisor.
I had a patch but was unable to test it, and some other things were

64-bit ISO Burning Failures
Hi,
I have downloaded several different sets of the 64-bit ISOs, and have
burned them to CD using various of my known-good ISO burning softwares,
including Nero and DeepBurn on Windows, as well as the native CD burning
KDE linux tool on Xandros Linux. I am using mirrors from the site, like
kernel.org.
I have chosen low burning speeds also, but when I insert the ISO CD into a
server and boot it

Syslinux 6.00 released
Hi,
seems like there is a problem in gnu-efi Makefiles:
When you are not on Debian, this will be installed (from
$source/inc/Makefile, called from $source/Makefile):
install:
mkdir -p $(INSTALLROOT)$(PREFIX)/include/efi
mkdir -p $(INSTALLROOT)$(PREFIX)/include/efi/protocol
mkdir -p $(INSTALLROOT)$(PREFIX)/include/efi/$(ARCH)
$(INSTALL) -m 644 *.h
