cpanel on CentOS
Hello,
Anyone running cpanel on CentOS3.4, could you please tell me what you
see at the top right corner of your WHM, where the version numbers are
listed?
Do you have "RedHat Enterprise 3 i686" like on RHEL or is cpanel aware
that it''s CentOS?
Thanks,
Francois

squid ldap novell
One of my future projects is to get squid working with ldap and
novell. Has anyone had experience doing this on CentOS/RHEL? I''ve
never worked with ldap, and I''m barely familiar with novell. I''m
mostly looking to see if there are any issues I''ll have before I get
into reading ldap docs and such. I''ll be using CentOS3.4.

Have question about centOS-3.3
I am currently running centOS-3.1.
I have not received any package updates since Sept 1.
Is this in part due to creating new isos which would be named centOS-3.3.
How would I go about updating my system from centOS-3.1 to centOS-3.3,
or would I even need to and just keep downloading updates like i do now.
My system is running very smoothly with no errors or issues,
I was just wondering why

duplicate packages after running apt-get update.

software Raid1 on centos3
how is the stability of software raid1 on a system running centos3.
i have 2 75gig hard drives that i would like to mirror if possible,
that being the reliability is worth it...there will be lots of network
traffic on the server. It will be used possibly as a file server,
it will most definitely be used also as a mail server and webserver.
i would be ok to me to not mirror the drives but this is

Playback of sound files but no sound
Hello,
I'm running asterisk-1.0.6 on a centos3.4 box.
I'm still in testing phase and so far everything is running smoothly.
I'm now trying to play a soundfile or an mp3file using 'MP3Player',
'Playback'
or the 'Background' commands, but don't get any sound.
The logfile says:

And another....Webmin
Is anyone using Webmin with CentOS? I've always found it works very well with
RHat Linux. I've not used RHEL so I'm not sure. I know on my SuSE server it
doesn't seem to work well and suspect there are some location problems.

openssl-0.9.7a-33.12
Why is RH using such an outdated version of OpenSSL ?
I understand that they may have back-ported the fix but I just tried
installing Net::SSLeay on a Centos 3.3 box and it wouldn't install, saying
that the openssl version was old and suggested I get 9.7b or later?
How are you handling this problem? I am resorting to recompiling OpenSSL
9.7d .
Thanks,

SuperServer 6024H-82R and Centos 3.3
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any familiarity with this
server? It uses the Super X6DH8-G2 motherboard. Currently, we've added an
Adaptec 2120S Ultra320 RAID PCI Controller Card to get RAID 5 capability. The
installation bombs and from what I can tell it looks like we're getting SCSI
resets or the controller is going offline maybe. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.

OT: firewalls
What is everyone using for a firewall?
I'm currently using www.astaro.com but their recent releases have soured
me on ASL as a practical solution on my hardware (1.2MHz Athlon, 30G,
and 256M). I only have 4 computers going through the firewall wall but
it's consistently at 50% cpu load. There is very little network traffic

Re: CentOS 3.4 Single CD "Server" version
Hey,
Lance mentioned yum group install. This yum group
capability makes the "server" CD's more versatile than
the name implies -- you only need a broadband
connection to get any kind of CentOS install you want.
Start with a minimal install off the CD, and then use
the yum group install to conveniently get the same
install you could get off the 3 CD set (only more up
to date).

CentOS 3 / tg3 driver on an HS20 Blade
Greetings:
I know it's been mentioned before that the tg3 driver in CentOS 3.4 is
buggy. I had to revert to 3.4 today from 4 (fresh install) and now I
have no link and thus no network. I'm wondering if this is caused by
this bug and what the work-around is.
Thanks.

Question about YUM
Pardon my ignorance, but if I update or install a package via rpm will YUM
pick that up in subsequent updates? Or should I be using YUM for installs if I
plan to use it for updates?
