Mongrel 0.3.13.1 -- Quick Small Fixes
Hi Everyone, This is a small release that fixes a little bug, some of the documentation, and adds the new RedirectHandler code and a @redirect@ call for the mongrel.conf files. It''s fresh so don''t rely on it. Everyone should upgrade with the usual *gem update* command (which tells you it''s "Upgrading...") and tell me how it works. This release fixes: * The

bind and 3.4
Hello, I encountered a problem when upgrading from 3.3 to 3.4 on i386. The machine is a production name server running bind. Looks like the new rpm moved my named.conf to .rpmsave and chkconfig'ed bind to off. That's really bad. A more gentle behavior would have been to save the new named.conf to .rpmnew and not mess with initscripts. Anyone else notice that? Francois Caen

mdadm exim mysql
I installed a CentOS-5 core OS (using --nobase in my kickstart). For some reason, it included mysql-5.0.22. When I do "yum remove mysql", it says it will also remove exim and mdadm for dependencies. I don't care that exim will be removed, but I need mdadm as I'm doing software RAID. But why are these even related? When I do: rpm -q --requires mysql neither exim or mdadm is

packages in "base" that are not in "nobase"
Is there a way to list the packages that are in a "base" install, but that are not in a "nobase" (core) install? I did a nobase install, then ran "yum groupinstall Base", but this just lists everything in base, including the core packages. Mainly, I'm just looking to audit the packages, and add only necessary ones back to a nobase install. So far, I've

central logging/analysis
I'm interested in doing centralized logging & analysis of logs from my CentOS boxes. I messed around with syslog-ng and it seems like it's a better syslog. But I noticed most of the "usual suspects" of third-party repo maintainers (Dag, Axel, etc.) don't include it. Karanbir has an el4 version, but all my boxes are CentOS 5. I was going to go ahead and roll my own

Re: CentOS 3.4 Single CD "Server" version
Hey, Lance mentioned yum group install. This yum group capability makes the "server" CD's more versatile than the name implies -- you only need a broadband connection to get any kind of CentOS install you want. Start with a minimal install off the CD, and then use the yum group install to conveniently get the same install you could get off the 3 CD set (only more up to date).

recode vector values to NA
Greetings, I'm in the painful process of migrating from SAS to R. In the process I've discovered that there are some basic things that I am getting hung up on. The most basic is the simple recoding of variables. Suppose I create a vector x <- rnorm(10000) and I want to recode all values of x > 1.5 to NA. How would I do that in R? TIA Cheers, Patrick

modules yet again
I know this comes up periodically, and I''ve read through the wiki (including the Best Practices page) & list archives, but still can''t quite get my head around it. I see lots of references to /modules and $MODULE_PATH, but am not sure what these refer to. Here''s a basic setup I have. Let me know if this looks correct: /etc/puppet/ |-- autosign.conf |--

bind problem
I have bind running on two servers. Both servers are running bind-9.2.4-7. When I update a zone file on the primary and reload bind, the secondary receives a notify, but does not initiate an AXFR. The only way I can get the secondary to update is to delete the zone file on the secondary and restart named. Any ideas what might be wrong? Mike

Restarting a stalled patch
Hello, I was curious if there was any advice on how to get a code-review restarted/completed. The two I've submitted recently (D30107<https://reviews.llvm.org/D30107> D29923<https://reviews.llvm.org/D29923>) have gotten a bit of review but both then seem to stall. Any hints? Thanks. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

How quickly are RHEL errata released as CentOS errata ?
Hi, I am deciding on what 'RHEL clone' to use and prefer to use one that has a quick release after RedHat releases an update. I checked the repositories, but have not encountered any of the latest errata. Am I looking at the wrong place ? Thanks, Taco

Dual Opteron or Dual Xeon?
I am about to lease another server to be a backup web/mail server with a replicated mysql database. The current live server is a dual Xeon 2.8Ghz. Would I do better to get another Xeon server or an Opteron based server? My concerns are compatibility of the database and the SSL certificate currently running on the Xeon machine. Are these concerns unfounded? TIA Mike

sorting data frame
Greetings, I hope this isn't obvious but I've read through the FAQ and the various other R/S books I have and I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to sort a data frame by a specific variable. Suppose I have a four variable data.frame x and the variables are var1, var2, var3, var4. I want to sort on say var3 simply for display purposes. How can this be accomplished? Thanks
