SV: IAX - only one way traffic
Yes, I am aware of that as well. I guess I was wondering if other people have experienced the same problems, and - in the event of a possible solution - how they solved the problem. Is there something that can be done on our Asterisk box or at the provider's side? Bjorn > > > > > > > From: Eric \ManxPower\ Wieling [eric@fnords.org] > > Sent: 2006-03-29

Asterisk 1.6 T38 to G711 transcoding is this possible?
The scenario we have is fax send/recieve software that ONLY talks T38 and an asterisk box. We have ITSP providers that do NOT talk T38 but G711 only. Does asterisk have the capability to take the T38 call from an ATA or T38 software then bridge/transcode it and do G711 out to the PSTN providers? If not is there another product PAID or FREE software or hardware that can do this easily and

How to change IAX default port 4569 to some other port
Hi all, All of a sudden all my IAX DIDs have gone down. I couldn't find any reason other than that the ISP is blocking port 4569. DIDs register fine from my home server, but not from office server, which is not behind any NAT. SIP registers fine. I am trying to change IAX port but it apparantly IAX works only on 4569. Changing it in iax.conf doesn't do anything. Changing it is

IAX not binding to the right port
First, I am surprised at IAX... My asterisk server is behind a firewall, I am behind a firewall, and my iax client connected... Voodoo??? :) But, the firewall has one unblocked port, which I think I should set to the IAX, so the magic won't be necessary, and it makes sense to think that there will be less latency without the "magic layer". But, when I set port=myport in the

Correct syntax to call using IAX and a different UDP port
Hi, Which is the correct syntax to call using IAX? I have two Asterisk boxes behind a NAT and one of them use the default port 5036 for IAX, the second one use 5038. To call an extension of the first one, the line in extensions.conf is: exten => _9XXX,1,Dial(IAX/user:pass@195.3.32.191/${EXTEN:1}) and for the second one: exten => _8XXX,1,Dial(IAX/user:pass@195.3.32.191:5038/${EXTEN:1})

IAX can be used on a different UDP port?
Hi, I'm back with my question, maybe someone can help me: I want to use IAX on another UDP port (not the default 5036), because I have 2 Asterisks behind the same NAT. Changing the default port in iax.conf file from 5036 to 5038 and then calling using the syntax: exten => _8XXX,1,Dial(IAX/user:pass@195.3.32.191:5038/${EXTEN:1}) I get the follwing error in the Asterisk console: --

Do public wifi block IAX port 4569
I've installed zoiper on my old phone and it works on my private network over wifi. I'm using standard IAX port 4569, so this port is open on my firewall. But when I catch open wifi network in a mall or a Tim Horton "zoiper" fail to register. Do they block IAX port 4569 or IAX protocol? -- Joseph

One way crappy audio in iax call - Asterisk 1.6.2.15
Hi, We had 2 asterisk 1.4 connected together in iax, all was fine. One of them was upgraded (server and Asterisk) in 1.6.2.15, the other end is in 1.4.38 When calling to 1.4 to 1.6.2 -remember, it's iax- all is good. But calling from 1.6.2 to 1.4 give a bad audio to calling party (words are cutted, you can't understand the words). On callee party it's still good. We replace

IAX - only one way traffic
Hello all! I?ve got a problem with the IAX setup. I?m previously only experienced with SIP, so that may be part of the problem. However, I?ve managed to register with the IAX server without any trouble (register line apparently works as it should), and I am also ale to make outbound calls. However, for inbound calls, all I get is this (from iax2 debug): Mar 29 17:44:18 NOTICE[11502]:

IAX port numbers?
I see that when an Asterisk connects to another one via IAX, it seems to use port 4569 for the first one. But if it has multiple IAX connections the additional ports seem to be chosen at random. Is there anyway to predict, or specify which ports or range of ports to use, for the sake of setting up a firewall? Thanks.

IAX call path optimization with more than 3 legs
hi list, after connecting 3 asterisk servers via IAX in a line (+ 1 client at each end), i noticed that call path optimization happens only one time, i.e. only one node/leg in the path can be reduced. Does anybody know if this is the intended behaviour or if it's a bug? Can anyone confirm my observations? It seems that the first node, that sends the TXREQ Message, is "optimized".

Teliax problems, they say use SIP, more mature & better working than IAX
We have a Teliax IAX trunk that we use as an overflow for our four regular business lines into our local Asterisk PBX (Trixbox). We have our Teliax account set up so that it goes to a Teliax voicemail box if it cannot reach our Asterisk server, and we have the channel set up for 5 simultaneous connections. Occasionally, calls are sent to the Teliax voicemail box for no apparent reason. In

Forwarding SIP over IAX problem: No One Available
I'm hoping someone can help me out with this. I am basically just trying to separate my outbound and inbound calls into separate contexts instead of having everything in a single context. Any help would be appreciated. Perhaps I've missed something really obvious.... Here is the network layout: <remote> <--TDM400P--> <nattedbox> <--IAX--> <liveipbox>
