chan_alsa - no sound / strange sound - 1.4.9
Hi
some problem with chan_alsa. Depending on the configuration I don't
get any sound output (output_device not set in alsa.conf - same as
output_device=default) or very strange output (output_device=hw:0,0)
when dialing into something like
exten => 10,1,Answer
exten => 10,n,Playback(soundfile)
exten => 10,n,Hangup
Other alsa applictions do work without problems and for example this

Console sound output -- shuts off when call from console answered
I've got a problem with audio output from the Asterisk console. I'd really appreciate any help.
I'm simply trying to dial out to a phone on PSTN. My extensions.conf entry is as follows:
exten => _1NXXNXXXXXX,1,Dial(IAX2/####@voxee/${EXTEN})
exten => _1NXXNXXXXXX,2,Hangup
After starting asterisk and dialing, I hear a ringback tone through the console speaker, and the PSTN

Asterisk ALSA module not working
Asterisk doesn't work with the latest CVS of ALSA (2003-06-24) . The
module chan_alsa.so won't load even if the oss module, chan_oss.so,
isn't loaded. There are no error messages.
I've been chasing ALSA/Asterisk/client problems in one form or another
for some time now. In previous versions of Asterisk and ALSA -- i.e.,
last week -- I could load either chan_oss.so or

chan_alsa and confbridge
OK, somebody may have a much better way of doing what I'm attempting. If
so, I'm open to suggestions.
I am trying to configure confbridge to create a "conference" room with an
audio stream coming from my sound card. The idea is for a group of people
to be able to call in and listen to someone giving a speech but not
necessarily interact. I've got confbridge configured and

can't get oss console working.
I've been trying to get a console channel working without success.
The sound card, which is built into the motherboard, is a VIA
Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 AC97 Audio Controller.
Using the oss drivers (vi82cxxx_audio) in kernel 2.4.23 and chan_oss, I
just get beeps and screeches.
Using alsa drivers (snd-via82cxx) and chan_oss (using the alsa oss
emulation), playing sound works,
