Hotel Setup?
I am working with a small inn (under 50 rooms) that is next to a ski
resort. The inn just had Cat5e Homeruns to each room installed, with a
patch panel in the basement. Now it's my job to connect each of the
those rooms to the Internet. I think I have a Cisco switch that I can
do Private VLANS with, however I thought of another solution.
Has anybody seen or does anybody know of a VoIP

Overhead Paging Systems...
Hey all,
I know you all saw the topic and let out a groan. However, I understand
how to get an overhead paging system to work with respect *, however I am
now looking for a small(?) paging amp, that I could hook 3 or 4 horns to.
I would like to just have the * extention be routed to a soundcard and out
an output, so I would like an amp that is voice signal activated.
Has anyone found anything

Newbie Post.
Greets to the list,
I just started learning RoR, coming from a PHP/MYSQL background. So
this is all new for me...
I have a project where I need to upload a picture into my db.
I have been reading the wiki (I wish it was more complete) and have
gleaned the code to upload directly into a database.
My form is setup correctly, as I can insert data into the DB without
issues. Now I am trying to

Any plans for ALTREP lists (VECSXP)?
Hi Kylie,
Is it a list with only numerics in it? (I only see REALSXPs there, but
obviously inspect isn't showing all of them). If so, you could load it up
into one big vector and then also keep partitioning information around.
Bioconductor does this (see ?IRanges::CompressedList ). The potential
benefit here being that the underlying large vector could then be a big
out-of-memory altrep. How

ALTREP wrappers and factors
Hi Jiefei and Kylie,
Great to see people engaging with the ALTREP framework and identifying
places we may need more tooling. Comments inline.

Any plans for ALTREP lists (VECSXP)?
Hello,
I was wondering if there were any plans for ALTREP lists (VECSXP)?
It seems to me that they could be supported in a similar way to how ALTSTRING works, with Elt() and Set_elt() methods, or would there be some problems with that I?m not seeing due to lists not being atomic vectors?
I was taking an approach of converting each list element (of a file-based list data structure) to an ALTREP

ALTREP wrappers and factors
Hello,
I?m experimenting with ALTREP and was wondering if there is a preferred way to create an ALTREP wrapper vector without using .Internal(wrap_meta(?)), which R CMD check doesn?t like since it uses an .Internal() function.
I was trying to create a factor that used an ALTREP integer, but attempting to set the class and levels attributes always ended up duplicating and materializing the

Re: [Input needed, open until Monday Aug 12th] Should we have an invite only, 1/2 day developer meeting before Xen Developer Summit (i.e. in the afternoon of October 23, Edinburgh, UK)
Yes it is happening. I sent a mail 2 to the list weeks ago. I sent out a mail earlier today to get input on revised timing. I would try and arrive the evening before or in the early hours of wed 8ish or so

handle multiple warehouses
Hello all,
I am working on building a web store with RoR. The company has many
locations. All the stock/order information is processed through the same
site.
Here is my question. How would you handle the multiple warehouse problem
with Rails? How would you keep track of the information in multiple
warehouses?
Thank you for your help,
PV

Understanding controllers
You''ll have to forgive me ... I''ve been toying with rails for about a week
and although I don''t feel completely lost there''s still a lot that I don''t
understand. Here goes.
Assume I have a controller called admin in app/controllers as well as three
model classes in app/models: product, category, warehouse. How exactly do I

So how can I rewrite my app without using with_scope?
So, I hear that with_scope is going to be deprecated.
Which is a bit of a shame, given the stuff I''ve been writing recently.
I have a CMS with multiple clients. A ''client'' is essentially a
company, with multiple users. Content on the site belongs to a client
- content could be messages, images, schedules, etc etc. People
belonging to one client should not be able

Connection gets closed after just a few seconds "smbd/service.c:close_cnum(1150)"
I'm testing the AIX binaries for 3.0.24 and have run into a problem.
Depending on how I map the share (using: \\[IP, hostname or
FQDN]\[sharename]) then the connection to the server is closed after
just a few seconds of inactivity.
The server runs on AIX5.3 with the latest fixpack. The client is Win XP
SP2.
I'm currently using 3.0.22 on our production server and don't have this

columns containing the variables of interest and separate columns
containing the number of times this variable was

Mailing list policy
Hi all,
right now the centos-virt at centos.org mailing list is set up such that
all posts by people not subscribed to the list are auto-discarded. This
is in line with all the other lists and I propose that we keep things as
they are. The reason for this is that traditionally the amount of spam
that centos lists are getting was very high.
I am not sure this holds for centos-virt at

Resigning as lead of the Virt SIG
Hi all,
I wanted to let you know that I feel I need to step down as leader of the Virtualisation SIG. When I originally was approached by KB to do this, it was always clear that this would be a temporary thing until the SIG got going. At the time, only Xen and CentOS folks were involved with the SIG. Since then, we added oVirt and Docker maintainers, have a total of 5 maintainers and built good
