RE: Hardware dimensioning issues To: <juanmoyano@southecon.com.ar>
Juan,
I am running a Calling Card application on a
Dell PowerEdge 2850 with Asterisk 1.0.7.
Recording conversations I have seen on my server
causes the processors to burn more than necessary
so I would recommend what William from Signate
recommended:
" Consider saving recorded calls in a database on a
separate server. It will be simpler to build a
retrieval interface that does not

Even the website www.ipvolution.com is in wee-wee land.

Server specifications
Hi all,
Can someone point me to some information on the type of hardware that might
/ should be used for a high load on an asterisk machine ?
I know that this is dependant on what services you plan to have running, and
it's relevant to what you plan to do.
We are likely to be running 4 E1's, Voicemail, IVR menus, Music on Hold,
Pay-Over-The-Phone, lots of interdepartmental

Cisco 7920 Image
Does anyone know if there is a Smartnet contract or whatnot available from
Cisco for access to the latest 7920 images?
I've got one w/ asterisk that is exhibiting a few of the documented bugs
running 1.0.3 (1.0.7 is the latest IIRC).
Thanks!

OpenSSH compile problem on Solaris 8 & 9
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this... the OpenSSH Mailing Lists
page is a little ambiguous.
I've tried to compile OpenSSH 3.0.1p1 & 3.0.2p1 on two different Solaris
platforms, one running Solaris 8 and the other Solaris 9 beta. It
configures fine, but the make dies:
gcc -I/opt/include -Wall -Wpointer-arith -Wno-uninitialized -I. -I.

FW: samba woes
All,
I have been working on a component that is included with samba called SMBSH. The binary allows you to automount your NT shares by accessing your profile . I have been working on this for the last
few days and have been unsuccesful at getting it work. Now I am not much of a programmer, but I did my best to try and troubleshoot this. However it just does not want to work in Linux. I

NET RPC calls fails
Hi Samba folks!
I have a problem concerning RPC calls.
In a domain environment running 3.0.3pre2 I have no problems shutting
down remote computers.
I now have a small environment with only 2 computers in a workgroup.
My samba server is running on a FreeBSD 5.4 box and my client is a
Win XP Pro SP2 box.
When I try to use net rpc shutdown -I 192.168.1.50 -U Administrator i

Printing NT to Linux w\Cannon bjc-4000
I am able to see my printer as a share. Well better put, I see four
representations of my printer: ascii, lp2, lp-mono, and raw. I tried
the naive thing and just selected lp2 and added the cannon bjc 4000
driver for NT. This didn't work. I get an error report:
%%[ Error: undefined; offending Command: K ]%% . . . a bunch of strings
that I don't understand. This does not look like the

PDF * powerpoint files need the x bit set under linux
We are trying to migrate to samba from NT4 data servers, We don't currently
allow users the execute permission on data drives, so I have setup data
drives with a creat mask of 0660 which seems ok. The problem I'm having it
that both powerpoint and PDF files seem to need the 'x' bit set before users
can edit or open the files. Has anybody else had this problem? and if so
could you

ACLs on client Samba machines with Samba PDC.
I've got a Samba box (2.2.5a) as a member of a Samba domain. Both the PDC
and client are running 2.4.18 with XFS and ACLs compiled in. Problem: on
the client, I can -NOT- modify the ACLs for files from Windows. (Note
that I can modify the stock Unix permissions, but not the extended
users/permissions that ACL support offers.) If I try, they just vanish
when I click "OK".

[LLVMdev] Help setting up a llvm project
First I'd like to let you know I've started working on porting gcjx to llvm.
Some other intrested people may help but I've just started the project.
My first question is I'm porting gcjx over to use the llvm build
system I've successfully created a number of libraries but gcjx uses a
number of sub directories for its source and I'd like the .o files for
all of them to

Building without perl
I can't seem to compile 3.5p1 on a Solaris 9 box with gcc and GNU make. The
box does not have perl installed on it. When I run configure, it correctly
detects the absence of perl on the system, but make dies immediately trying to
run "fixpaths", which is a perl script. PERL is set to nothing in the Makefile.
Is perl required? The docs don't say it is... if not, how do I get

Incremental Diffs?
Hello,
I'm new to rsync, and I'm confused about something. I was under the
impression that it used some sort of diff function to save time &
bandwidth when copying over files. I'm using it to backup files from one
computer to another, and it works exactly as I thought it would, except
that it seems to be copying entire files over when they've change rather
than the
