Document Management System
Hi all, I was wondering if someone can give me some pointers to a good Document Management System. I've been using Knowledge Tree for a while and just wondering if there is something a bit more robust. I'm archiving technical specs, functional documents, etc... Oracle Apps on Linux
Hi folks, I seem to remember someone asking how to install Oracle Apps on Linux so here goes a quick and dirty how-to:- 0 - You will need access to Metalink (Oracle's support site) for downloading patches and read documentation on line. 1 - Size up your Linux box to at least 1Gb memory and 200Gb of disk space. I'm assuming you have a Pentium 4 at around 3GHz. 2 - Download and

Multiple IP Addresses in a single NIC
Hi all, I've been trying to add a second ip address to one of my network cards in my CentOS box. I've defined the alias on top of eth1 which has become eth1:1 with a different ip address. I can ping the new ip address both from my linux box as well as from my Windoze desktop, however I can only access my Apache web server setup as a virtual host from within the Linux box. If I try to

Setting up a simple NAT on CentOS 3.5
Well I think this system is back on 3.5. How do I tell? Have not used it in a while... I need a NAT for some quick testing and this box was available. Only a 6gb drive, so I can't install Astaro (which I have licenses for). So is there a simple way to turn on NATing? Should I upgrade to 4.2? This box is behind a firewall, so security risks are not the issue. This time.

Problem with masquerading and bridges
Hello all, I''m somewhat new to networking, and I''m having trouble masquerading connections that are coming over a bridge. The bridge only has a single port for now, but I''m going to add more ports later. I''m basing my configuration on the two-interface quick start guide. I''m using Shorewall 3.0.4 on Ubuntu Dapper. My network looks like this: * The

replicating a live directory
Hello all, we are using rsync to produce a replica of our filesystem. it's very important for us to be sure that the files replicated on the remote backup host are left in a consistent state as we may need to boot services from those files (configs, logs, etc)! right now we use a 'greedy approach'... we stop all important services (dhcpd, squid, sendmail, etc) just to minimize the

Re: SYSLINUX Digest, Vol 33, menu.c32 chaining
Hello, many of our platforms do not have a integrated floppy, some even don''t have a floppy controller. As pxelinux still has a problem with machines without a floppy in combination with some bios versions I need to chainload a different bootstrap loader which works on the floppyless platforms. But I also need to load a BartPE and the other BS loader does not support that. So I tried to

Eleven??
I was poking around in the Gentoo Linux repository yesterday, trying to satisfy my curiosity about how many programming languages there are in "common use" today. I found one called "Eleven" which is quite strangely similar in intent to Rails. The home page is http://eleven.sourceforge.net/. Eleven is much simpler than Rails, and there are some interesting ideas in it. To

Betr.: Multiple IP Addresses in a single NIC
Hi, You need to issue two commands: /sbin/ifconfig eth0:0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx /sbin/route add -host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx dev eth0 For example: /sbin/ifconfig eth0:0 172.16.1.199 /sbin/route add -host 172.16.1.199 dev eth0 You can even assign multiple aliases to one NIC (One of my servers has about 10 ip addresses): For example: /sbin/ifconfig eth0:0 172.16.1.199 /sbin/route add -host 172.16.1.199

MASQUERADE problem again...
Dear list members, Masquerading does''not work for me. This is a Mandrake Linux 10 system, but I use another kernel, that included in the original distribution (original: 2.6.3, now used 2.6.8 because of a lot of suck with OpenSwan with kernels prior 2.6.4). The problem seems to be similar or identical mentioned here:

Simple backup of maildir folder
Hi, I want to do a simple backup of my maildir. I read here that maildirlock is not to count on in the future and the recommended option was to use doveadm backup. However, it seems that this requires to setup another dovecot server. My questions are: - How much to I need to configure this new server? Do I need to setup user by user, or even install postfix (that's where my users are

What does it mean to be "masked from data" when attaching? (Newbie question)
I have several data frames, each with six variables and several hundred cases broken out from a larger dataframe by eleven values of a factor called "Division". I have to perform the same analysis on each one. I would like to do it by creating a data frame called data2 eleven times, once with data corresponding to each value of the factor, and performing the same analysis on each of
