Asterisk 1.0.7 won't run after upgrade to FC4
I just upgraded to Fedora Core 4 and Asterisk won't run any more. When
launching asterisk, I get "asterisk: error while loading shared
libraries: libssl.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory".
A quick search ("find / -name libssl.so.4") for the file shows the file
nowhere on my system. However, when I "yum provides libssl.so.4", yum

How much CPU power needed for asterisk
I'm thinking of placing Asterisk on an itx motherboard in a tiny case.
The ITX motherboards top out around 400Mhz PII (in terms of power
relative to a desktop).
How much CPU would I need for an office of 50 people? How much disk
storage for voicemail + OS? (typical / average)
The system will have no PCI cards (no Digium FSO/FXO cards) - everything
over the LAN connection.
Thanks,

Restricting connection of unauthorized phones.
I have asterisk up and running now, and installed XLITE on 2 PC's. Both
machines (mistakenly) registered as the same user / extension.
Strangely, asterisks allows this and both phones can make calls! But,
only the first one to register can receive calls at the extensions.
1. Is this normal behavior? (Why allow 2 phones on same extension)
2. Why is asterisk not showing the second phone when

'h' extension on call-out
Hello!
I would like to store ISDNCAUSE on automatic call-out campaign
(possibly gives more detail on failed call). How is it possible?
I have tried 'failed' and 'h' extension. No luck. Extension 'failed'
does not know anything about ISDNCAUSE and 'h' extension is not called
at all. Any idea?
I am using Asterisk 1.2.14 on FC4 if it counts.

Voicemail wav49 format problem
I have the voicemail format set to wav49 in my voicemail.conf file.
When retrieving voicemails, the first message plays back ok - but then
Asterisk hangs up and the log shows the following error. Any idea
what's up?

Quality of provider: VocTel
Any users of the VocTel VOIP service? (Canadian)
How have you found the quality (Choppy / smooth audio)?
Any problems registering? (I have been unable to register for hours)
After reading about the collapse of a big USA VOIP provider, I'm curious
Thanks,

Fedora Core 4 x86_64
I am about to build a Dual Opteron Asterisk box as our soon to be
production server.
Is Core 4 supported or should I stay with Core 3?
There was a recent post about an issue with the latest Core 3 Kernel and
zaptel. I had the same experience, but just rolled back to the previous
version of the Kernel on Core 3 on our evaluation server.
Thanks in advance

Proper AGI use with MySQL
Hi,
We have a "simple" AGI script that provides some IVR functionality. It connects to a MySQL database in order to create a call record and capture IVR data.
During the IVR process, we need to store the time the call started, so basically we INSERT a new MySQL row with callstart = NOW(), uniqueid = AGI(agi_uniqueid). As the user selects different options, we update the row to reflect

Yes, I tried Progress already, and it didn't help. But thanks for

Strange text on Asterisk console
I've just set up a new box with FC1+updates and the latest Stable
Asterisk from CVS.
Asterisk is started with the default safe_asterisk script with a
console on TTY9.
The coloured text on this console is made up of weird characters
instead of normal. Please see http://www.softins.co.uk/dsc00018.jpg
for an example.
If I do "asterisk -rvvvvv" on a normal login, either via the

No voice in MeetMe for SIP with AGI_BACKGROUND
Hello List,
I have seen from the following link that, for SIP channels there is no audio communication possible in MeetMe with AGI_BACKGROUND.
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+cmd+MeetMe
Currently we are using asterisk-1.6.2 and the problem still persists. Is there any solution available to overcome this problem? According to our requirement, we have to run an AGI script in MeetMe.

Background asynchronous AGI
I have been writing a lot of AGI programs in C with good success.
I would like somehow to have an AGI program continue in the background
while the pbx execution returns to the dialplan and continues. Is this
possible? I was thinking that perhaps I could fork or create another
thread within the AGI prog.
The reason I want to do so is in order to monitor external information

FastAGI Command Execution
I've noticed that with FastAGI (and maybe AGI) that when you sequentially send a sequence of dial commands, if the call is picked up, that after the call ends, the Fast AGI script keeps executing the commands!
Is there anyway to stop execution once a call is picked up? I think looking at the result codes after the Dial to determine if the call was picked up or not is not a good idea... if it

ERROR during high volume MoH dialplan
Thanks for the feedback.
I do agree with having multiple smaller servers. When I was first approached with this task I mentioned as much. However, the current desire is to work with already existing hardware. That is out of my hands at the moment unless it just can't be done. I will explore Freeswitch a bit soon to compare it as well.
