Make asterisk 1.0.7 fail under FC4
After more investigation, I decided to just recompile asterisk (on my
newly upgraded Fedora core 4 system). Make dies with this error:
"No rule to make target
'usr/lib/gcc/i386-redhat-linux/3.4.3/include/stddef.h"
It seems this directory is gone under FC4, and replaced by
No rule to make target 'usr/lib/gcc/i386-redhat-linux/4.0.0/include/
I can't find the

OpenSSL binary compatibility between CentOS 4 and 5
[Re-sending ...]
I would like to ask why upstream and CentOS provide no compat-openssl
packages like Novell does in SUSE.
We are trying to install binaries for gLite (a huge toolkit for grid
computing linked against upstream v4 libraries) on CentOS 5. I was under the
impression that this would be possible because v5 is "binary-compatible"
with v4. But it seems this "binary

Fedora Core 4 x86_64
I am about to build a Dual Opteron Asterisk box as our soon to be
production server.
Is Core 4 supported or should I stay with Core 3?
There was a recent post about an issue with the latest Core 3 Kernel and
zaptel. I had the same experience, but just rolled back to the previous
version of the Kernel on Core 3 on our evaluation server.
Thanks in advance

How much CPU power needed for asterisk
I'm thinking of placing Asterisk on an itx motherboard in a tiny case.
The ITX motherboards top out around 400Mhz PII (in terms of power
relative to a desktop).
How much CPU would I need for an office of 50 people? How much disk
storage for voicemail + OS? (typical / average)
The system will have no PCI cards (no Digium FSO/FXO cards) - everything
over the LAN connection.
Thanks,

Quality of provider: VocTel
Any users of the VocTel VOIP service? (Canadian)
How have you found the quality (Choppy / smooth audio)?
Any problems registering? (I have been unable to register for hours)
After reading about the collapse of a big USA VOIP provider, I'm curious
Thanks,

Restricting connection of unauthorized phones.
I have asterisk up and running now, and installed XLITE on 2 PC's. Both
machines (mistakenly) registered as the same user / extension.
Strangely, asterisks allows this and both phones can make calls! But,
only the first one to register can receive calls at the extensions.
1. Is this normal behavior? (Why allow 2 phones on same extension)
2. Why is asterisk not showing the second phone when

Compiling * on OpenBSD 3.5
Hi,
Has anyone had any success? After a clean install of OpenBSD, I do the following:-
pkg_add ftp://rt.fm/pub/OpenBSD/3.5/packages/i386/gmake-3.80.tgz
pkg_add ftp://rt.fm/pub/OpenBSD/3.5/packages/i386/bison-1.35p1.tgz
pkg_add ftp://rt.fm/pub/OpenBSD/3.5/packages/i386/ruby-ncurses-0.8.tgz
Then, I get (via CVS) the asterisk source..
cd /usr/src/asterisk
/usr/local/bin/gmake clean

FC4 SMP domU ?
Is anyone running FC4 SMP domU''s?
I don''t recall if I tested this before and today I noticed that I can
only bring up FC4 domU''s as UP even though vcpus = 2.
xm list and /proc/cpuinfo are in agreement :-)

Ted

C5 recent openssl update breaks mysql SSL connection
I recently applied updates to a CentOS 5 box running MySQL. I've discovered
that the new version of openssl, 0.9.8e-36.0.1.el5_11, breaks MySQL SSL
connections.
If I rename /lib/libssl.so.0.9.8e and replace it with the old version of
that file from openssl-0.9.8e-27.el5_10.1 (not sure if that is the next
oldest, but it was handy), then SSL connection to MySQL works again.
I then performed

PXE, Intel, and FC4 problems
Greetings!
I am currently building a PXE distro server for a company that I'm
contracting for, but I'm having some problems. Here's the scoop:
Some of the clients I want to install on are Angstrom blades with Intel
e1000 NICs. Using the pxelinux.0 file on the FC6 distro, I can install
FC6 just fine. However, FC4 bombs. The system pulls it's DHCP address
just fine, and then

SysV install problem in FC4
After a fresh install, I noticed that shorewall 2.4.0 wasn''t starting
automatically under FC4. The startup script installs properly from the
rpm:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/shorewall
... but the post install "/sbin/chkconfig --add shorewall" produces
this in the runlevel symlink directories:
/etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S-1shorewall
/etc/rc.d/rc0.d/K-1shorewall
/etc/rc.d/rc6.d/K-1shorewall

How-To for FC4/Samba
Can someone point me to a step-by-step on samba w/FC4? Honestly, I'm only
trying a basic share, no rocket science. I've already a samba server on RH9
with the same clients and users trying to access a share on FC4. Logs and
testparm returns everything fine. Had SELINUX on and off. Cannot browse even
home directories.
Thanks,
