Analog modems behind an Asterisk server?
Hello, we would like to hook up analog modems behind an Asterisk server,
and we're very interested in the experiences that others have made when
attempting that. We assume that there are no inherent problems with
modems in respect to the Asterisk software, but it appears that the
FXO/FXS hardware restricts this kind of a setup to lower data
transmission rates, is this correct?
Currently,

FXS with v.90 modem support?
I have a couple of devices that need an analog modem to communicate
outside of our Asterisk system. Most FXS gateways don't seem to
support this... I have a stack of Sipura 2002's that are, AFAIK,
worthless for this purpose.
I've heard that Digium's IAXy FXS will work with modems, but I can't
find any reference to that in their documentation. There is also the

Digium TDM400P has RJ45 interface, how to connect to analog phone RJ11?
<div><BR>Hello,</div>
<div> I bought a TDM400P, and intended to use it with my analog
phone, which is RJ11 ofcourse. So, the question now, how do I plug in
my RJ11 phone to the TDM400P card, which has an RJ45 interface? Also,
since it's an 11B card, I also intend to bring in an analog line into
the RJ45, so i am still left with the same question....how do I go

SIP in the UK
Hi all,
Does anyone know of any providers that can offer local numbers based in
the UK via IAX or SIP? We're looking at getting a number based in the
UK.
Thanks!

TDM400p susceptible to EMI?
I have a TDM400p with 3 fxs and 1 fxo daughter cards.
It's in a mini-itx case with a 'right-angle' PCI riser card so the TDM400p
is 'sandwiched' between the Atom D525 CPU and the 2.5" hard drive.
I'm getting a bunch of clicks and pops on all ports.
Has anybody had a similar experience? Did you find a solution?

how can PRI, BRI and analog cards achieve a synchronous clock / timing
hello list,
i have a problem regarding the synchronisity (clock source) when using
multiple cards.
e.g. when having connected one PRI port of our TE410P to the telco, i
need to have the analog card like the TDM400P or a B410P synchronous to
the clock of our telco provider. otherwise faxing on the analog cards
does not work or i get cracking noise or even hangups on my BRI lines,
due to bit slips.

Just static on TDM400P (not even a dialtone)
Hi,
I have just built my home Asterisk box into a better PC that became
available (still only a P2 350 but it only has to manage 1 analog line)..
Anyway I have built it on Fedora Core 1.. I have an X100P and a TDM400P
(1 module installed)..
These cards were working fine in my older PC that was running my
Asterisk at home..
The inbound calls via the X100P to my sip phones are working great..

Am I on the right track, and consultants
Hi,
I've been lurking here for about a month and I've been putting together
our companies planned migration to a new office and a new phone system.
Could anybody tell me if there are any pitfalls to the following setup
I may have missed?
1: TBD PC running *
a: Digium TDM04b FXO connected to PSTN
1: lines rolling over via SBC sentrex to get multi-lines on 1 number

ANALOG FXO ZAPTEL & WCFXO & WCTDM module issues seen with intermittent analog lines
Hello, I have found a "bug", I think in the way TDM400P cards handle FXO
interface disconnect/re-connect problems. Normally I do keep all the wires
connected from my CO / PABX quite securely, but I had a need to re-route the
cable from one side of the desk to another, and I simply disconnected the
RJ-45 connector and plugged it back in. THIS PROMPTLY RESULTED IN VERY VERY

hanging an asterisk box off of a PBX analog extension
Wanting to connect my asterisk box off of 2 unused analog extensions on
the non* PBX system.
Can I bring those lines in to * on XP100 FXO cards?
Any special wiring/open loop issues to watch for?
The desired config is inbound PRI -> non* PBX, attendant picks up and if
caller wants services on * box then xfers call to one of the analog
extensions where * picks up and handles call from that

Server Recommendations
We have a number of clients who will be needing a server to host
Asterisk on. Many of these clients use analog (FXO) lines that will
need to be connected to Asterisk via Sangoma cards. Can anyone
recommend an industry-standard server (like IBM, Dell, HP, etc.) that
has enough open PCI slots to handle up to six of the Sangoma cards? We
would like to be able to tell the customer to just go

VOIP phonesets vs. cheap Analog touch-tone sets with Asterisk
Hello--
I've been asked an interesting question, and I'm too ignorant to answer
it authoritatively (yet). Can anyone help me?
Question: If I'm going to implement a somewhat small (10-80) phone
system, and I have a choice of using VOIP phoneset (like SNOM or
Grandstream or Cisco, etc), vs. cheap analog touch-tone phones, exactly
what features will I kiss goodbye if I use the cheap

Public phone
A client wants to put phones in a semi-public place, using a Calling
Card solution. What kind of hardware is suitable? I'm looking for a wall
mounted booth, a SIP phone that can't easily be broken, but I might just
use cheap analog phones and a channel bank.
What do you suggest for the calling card software?
This installation will be outside the US.

New Asterisk Implementation
Hello,
I've been planning to replace my aging CENTREX switch with a new PBX and am seriously
considering Asterisk as my solution.
I work at a college, and we currently support just under 300 regular analog lines to
the offices and whatnot.
I was wondering.. Is asterisk ready for such a job? Would I be making a mistake
to deploy this across the campus at this time?
It seems that

Snom 300 Echo
We're deploying an asterisk-based phone system at all of our branch
offices in an effort to eliminate long-distance costs incurred from the
constant branch to branch calls. We're using the Snom 300's at all
offices for the desk phones and X100P cards to interface to 2 analog
lines. I'm having a problem tuning all the echo out of the system. So
far two branches are using the

Optimizing Asterisk Environment
Hello Everyone,
We are getting some rather poor results (relative) with our Asterisk
setup. Not sure if we are using the sipp correctly etc.. but
nevertheless, is there any documentation that describes how we can get
the most our of our Asterisk box. For example when we hit the "too
many file" error, and fixing it using ulimit..... Also, is there any
way we can allocate sufficient

About X100P and TDM400P analog card in China
Hello. All.
I am a bit new to asterisk, started from half a month ago.
I am setting up a home asterisk server with analog card. I am using
asterisk 1.4.27.
At the moment, I bought a X100P card and installed it on my computer. I
used it to connect my home phone line. For the moment, it works fine when
dial in. Soon I noticed when I dial out through it to my mobile, it can't
hang up

Poor analog line quality, wireless "base station", FAX-ing
While pondering several issues, poor quality PSTN POTS lines, potential cost savings with multiple cell numbers, the FAX problems over TDM400p, etc, I wondered about:
Cell phone "Base stations" to replace POTS lines. Devices to "cradle" cell phones and connect to TDM400p, for instance, to mimic PSTN. Are there such beasts, how do they play with asterisk?

Multiple TDM400P's in a single machine
Hi All,
Can someone give me a definite answer as to wether or not you can
reliably run multiple TDM400P's in the same machine?
I need 4 x FXO and 4 x FXS to connect to both the PSTN and existing key
system, but I have seen several threads suggesting that this is not a
supported configuration
Thanks,
Marc.
