Firewall frustration
Well FWbuilder is NOT easy. The documentation does not match the current GUI. Now the box is locked up. I will have to pull it again, hook it up to a kybd/VGA and reset iptables.... Maybe Shoreline with webmin.... Problem is I want a REAL router/firewall with little work. Both public and private nets have routable addresses. No NATing for me! I just help write the RFC ;) And all the

[OT] Corporate Firewall
Hey, The company I work for is in the market for a new firewall. Right now we're hosting all of our own stuff (on CentOS servers) behind an old checkpoint firewall. I think Checkpoint is overkill for our needs and very expensive, plus I don't like the "per-user" charges of some commercial solutions. What do you guys suggest that we upgrade to? Here are some of the

Best Firewall Suggestions?
Hi, My customer has a outdated firewall that is also presenting a NAT nightmare for getting the Asterisk server reachable from the internet. What firewalls work good with VOIP? I really want to steer away from any ALG supported firewall. I just want a good firewall that works well with Asterisk. Thanks, David Wathen -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...

Pattern Matching
We recently had our PRI installed, we currently have 100 toll-free's pointing to it. I have almost everything working great but.. I have setup the first few numbers we want to use coming in from the PRI and they work great, but.. What I want to do is setup an extension with pattern matching to answer for any numbers called that are pointed to our system and PRI but not yet in

Making two * servers share same dial plan?
Can someone point me to some docs that explain this or give me a direction to go in. I have seen docs on this in the past but can't seem to dig em up now when I need them. Basically I want one Asterisk server to be the traffic cop and send some calls directly to ATA's and some calls to another Asterisk server, the other Asterisk server will then direct the calls to the end users ATA

SIP re-invite and billing
I know this may sound like a stupid question but I will put on my flame retardant suit and ask anyway. Is there any way to use/allow SIP reinvite and still track the length of the call? I realize that the whole idea of reinvite is that it takes the proxy out of the media path which, from what I understand also kills the proxy's ability to track the start/end time of the call for billing

QOS Device?
Here is the situation: A T1 router going into an office which then plugs into the firewall box then into the switch. None of these devices support QOS.. Is there some sort of box/device that I can place between the T1 router and the firewall box which will allow me to prioritize voice traffic on this link? I can't change the T1 router to something that supports QOS because it has

Firewall builder - which rpm?
I need a decent, easy, firewall on Centos. This is for test systems, so I do not need a lot. For 'a lot', I use and Astaro firewall. I had used Firestarter once, but found out that it cannot handle routing between a public and private network. Basically saying this is impossible. Of course, if your private network is addressed per RFC 1918 (that I co-authored), I can understand

rsync without reverse dns lookup
Hello, I set up an script witch connects my rsyncd server. But the IPs for rsyncd Server and Client have no DNS Name, and so rsync trys to lookup for a DNS Name for this IPs. This causes a long DNS Timeout! My question: is there a commandline option to disable this "feature"? Or can you give me quick "hack around"? Best regards -- Clemens Gesell <cgesell@astaro.de> |

OT: anything in CentOS 5.2 that uses opendns.com when browsing web?
I believe this is completely OT, but I want to be positive. I have a fully up to date CentOS 5.2 box. During the past week, when surfing with Firefox (and today, while testing with Konqueror), frequently, especially when DNS is slow, I am seeing references to opendns.com At times, I end up on opendns.com web pages, instead of at the web site I'm trying to get to. My ISP, the phone company,

Firewall rules to block other's computers browse list
Hi All, My Samba server/firewall has three (two real, one virtual) network cards: eth0.5: connects to a terminal server eth0: internal network with about 10 XP workstations eth1: the Internet Samba is set to talk to only 12.0.0.1, eth0.5 and eth0. I have my firewall iptables rules set so that users on eth0.5 can only use the samba server on my server. They can not share with any other user on

IPCop updates, Evolution Calendar rarely crashes now
I know a lot of you are using IPCop where you work. They have three (3) updates posted, during the past two (2) days. The last one, I'm getting an error, when I try to Download it, and I will report that to the IPCop list or bugzilla after I send this message. "No such file or directory http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ipcop/ipcop-1.4.21-update.i386.tgz.gpg?download" The problem I

Shorewall as a "commercial" firewall
I am considering replacing my old checkpoint and watchguard firewalls witha single Linux box using iptables and shorewall. I have two ISP''s (with separate routing tables), two DMZ''s, at least one VPN to a remote office, and a local trusted network. The configuration will look like: +----------------+ | | net0 ----------+ eth1

Setting up a simple NAT on CentOS 3.5
Well I think this system is back on 3.5. How do I tell? Have not used it in a while... I need a NAT for some quick testing and this box was available. Only a 6gb drive, so I can't install Astaro (which I have licenses for). So is there a simple way to turn on NATing? Should I upgrade to 4.2? This box is behind a firewall, so security risks are not the issue. This time.

proxy server - ipcop vs CentOS
I have purchased a used Compaq DL360 which I was going to use as a proxy server. Presently, we are using a cheap box with ipcop which is working fine but it didn't have much RAM (64MB), etc. This new box we will want to run squid and perhaps dansguardian for filtering (this is a non-profit company) and I'm wondering if I should just put ipcop on it or would it be smarter/better to install

get older version 3.0.37
Dear all, I have a client who uses Samba 3.0.28 on AIX 5.3 and he is running into problems with the cpu utilization which is 100% caused by one or more smbd processes. I found out that this problem should be solved in version 3.0.37 and want to know if there is a way to get the bff-file of this version. I am not able to compile samba myself on the machine which has the problem and I am

Sipura SPA-2000 won't ring
I had a Grandstream 286 at my home hitting my Asterisk box at the office, all worked well and I received phone calls fine until the device just up and died. I replaced this unit with an SPA-2000 because I have been impressed with the Sipura devices and decided to use them for most of my needs in the future. Problem is that my phone attached to the device rings shortly after power up of the
