Hi, We have phones registered at another soft switch, and would like to use Asterisk as a Voicemail system. Is it possible and how to configure Asterisk to send NOTIFY messages (for MWI) to the endpoints that are not registered to the Asterisk? Can someone else confirm that your phone does not recieve MWIs when using SIP and RealTime? Is this a problem with SIP or with Voicemail? -Matthew

Does anyone have personal experience with a 5.8gig wireless phone (system) that has an MWI that WORKS with asterisk via fxs (in my case spa3k) generated MWI. I know the spa3k does stuttered dialtone but not sure if it generates FSK MWI. I see some that state they do but I also see reviews that say they don't. Doug

Hey, all. I'm all over MWI, but I gotta say that I think the Polycoms go a bit over the top. The blinking LED is enough for me; how do I disable the stuttered dialtone and the audible warble? We are using Bellsouth 8867 phones on our TDM400B FXS lines (asterisk-1.0.3). It has a "Voicemail" light, which appears to be MWI (according to the manual it works with voicemail from the telco that sends a FSK signal). The dialtone stutters when a line has voicemail, so I know that I have the mailbox setting right in zapata.conf, but the light doesn't go on. I am also getting

Last week I asked about MWI indicators on wireless phones that would work with Asterisk. I sent a message off to Panasonic asking them about it because in their ads they specifically stated that the indicator works with and requires phone company voicemail subscription. I am using 1.4, and have the above device, and it worked really well with monitoring 18 "hints" aka devices. Now, I've moved us to a hotdesking paradigm where the user is the "extension" not the device. IOW if I dial 1234, I will get user 1234 (who happens to log on to device ABC today, and DEF tomorrow). Can I make the GXP monitor user 1234, not extension 1234 ?

I have a Sipura 962 endpoint on Asterisk 1.4 where the MWI works perfectly, however my theory is that it should be broken. Obviously I'm wrong but "Sip show subscriptions" does not show the endpoint subscribing to the MWI status on Asterisk, even though all of the other endpoints on the system DO subscribe for their respective mailboxes, including SNOM & Polycom endpoints.

Hello, I have a bunch of Polycom 601's and Asterisk 1.4.13. The problem is that the MWI indicators will never go off (The blinking red light and envelope in the LCD). I have tried to upgrade to 1.4.14 and all different SIP versions on the Polycoms. I am now at 1.6.7 Here is the SIP Message that turns on the lights: Scheduling destruction of SIP dialog '
