inotify max_user instances
Hello, Timo, last year when you remoted into our server and performed the migration from courier-imap, we ran into this issue, and you solved it by doing: echo 1024 > /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances Then you said you were going to solve this permanently by changing the init script... Here is what you said (this is from the skype chat): [2012-06-04 10:40:43 AM] timosirainen:

After upgrading samba 4.5.10 to 4.9.13
Good time! After upgrading samba 4.5.10 to 4.9.13, name resolution in AD hangs. # /etc/init.d/samba status ?* status: crashed But the domain itself works, but hangs when resolving user names. What can be done? [2019/10/13 12:24:52.896473, 10, pid=17379, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0), class=ldb] ../lib/ldb-samba/ldb_wrap.c:77(ldb_wrap_debug) ? ldb: Added timed event

environment variables required for startup
Using dovecot-1.0-rc19 (quotas are working good, btw) on Gentoo, I have a strange problem. On boot, dovecot doesn't start, the init script just times out. From the command line, it starts instantly without problem. Also, using a program called 'monit' to make sure processes stay running and restart them if they stop, if I manually stop dovecot, it is then unable to start it (calling

Cluster restart leaving orphaned processes?
First off, a big thank you to Zed and the development team for mongrel and mongrel cluster. I''ve deployed it for two apps (through an apache 2.2 proxy) and it''s amazing how much snappier everything is. Previously we were using lighttpd and lighttpd-fastcgi proxying through apache 2.0, which was turning into a hassle for lots of reasons, most notably the ruby fcgi

integration of tzinfo with icalendar
My interest in icalendar is more on the ical generation side instead of the ical parsing side. As such, I did a bit of work on a tzinfo mixin that will generate the timezone rules based on the tzinfo gem. This lets you do the following: estart = DateTime.new(2008, 12, 29, 8, 0, 0) eend = DateTime.new(2008, 12, 29, 11, 0, 0) tstring = "America/Chicago" tz =

HFSC Advanced Limiting
I am investigating changing our broadband bandwidth control scripts over to HFSC. What I would like to accomplish is this: { * DOWNLOAD * I need a download class for each user (we''ll call it Class 1) that offers a minimum of lets say 384Kbps and a maximum of 1.5Mbps. The rates between 384Kbps and 1.5Mbps should be shared among all users. Each user should always be able to get at

Auto callout - reminder - is it possible?
I'm trying to get a script working on a website to send out automatic email reminders to customers reminding them monthly to change furnace filters. I haven't got one running successfully, yet. That made me think - could it be done with a phone call using Asterisk? A monthly automated phone call to remind people to change their furnace filter? I have no ability to figure this out

daemon in /etc/init.d/functions creates no pifile?
Hi, we started using centos7 to run kvm+libvirt. For novnc to virtual machines I like to start websockify as a daemon by libvirt (as a hook) Under Debian I used the line: # start-stop-daemon --start --chuid $RUNUSER --make-pidfile --pidfile $PIDFILE --startas $PROGRAM -- $OPTIONS which creates a nice pidfile. In Centos I figured out, to include /etc/init.d/functions and I tried: # daemon

Mixing Ruby and Puppet
To manage Asterisk users, I''ve made a define that can be used like this: asterisk::user { "sip.login": fullname => "Sip Extension 223", secret => "allyourbase", extension => "223", } I''m trying to put user definitions in a single string, and make something like the following. Should I go down this way, or should I use

SIP IAX2 MySQL Config
I've configured asterisk to connect a MySQL database for CDR, Voicemail and SIP/IAX2 peers. - CDR are reccorded - Voicemail config is readen directly in the database but SIP/IAX2 peers still have to be declared in sip/iax2.conf to make calls... However, when I restart Asterisk: [chan_sip.so] => (Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)) == Parsing '/etc/asterisk/sip.conf': Found ==

Segmentation fault in shadow.so
Trying to fire up Puppet 0.24.7 on an Ubuntu 6.06 x64 machine (yes, I know it''s obsolete, but we have a pile of machines), I get this failure: ---------------------------- # /etc/init.d/puppet start * Starting puppet configuration management tool /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/x86_64-linux/shadow.so: [BUG] Segmentation fault ruby 1.8.4 (2005-12-24) [x86_64-linux] /etc/init.d/puppet: line 35:

Changing NICE value for * will it help?
By default asterisk (on my system) runs with NICE value "0" like most of the programs. Will the performance improve if I assign NICE value of let say -5 or -10 to asterisk? To my understanding it should as the priority will be higher than most other programs (it might even solve some echo problem). Am I right? How to start asterisk with priority let say -5? If I start the main process

how to get /var/run/asteris/asterisk.ctl
Hello there everyone, Well I have set up Asteriks 6.0 and almost have Freepbx working too. However, freepbx is showing me that /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl is not found. I confirmed that by going to the directory. How do I get /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl put in correctly? I am using a Ubuntu 8.10 system. Thanks much.

Windows Drivers for Wildcard FXO Card
And if you want to use it with windows telephony software, such as answering machine or modem communications software, you can probably take the drivers for the Intel MD3200 based modem, modify the .inf for the Digium vendor and device ID. I have not tried this, but since the MD3200 modem works that way in Linux, the X100P may work that way in Windows. Then you would have a $100 winmodem! Let
