confused about iax and voip providers termination
Hey guys, I'm actively trying to get the "big" picture on how all this works and relates to each other. I've gone through some basic examples from the book and from the sample files just fine. Now, I've setup an account with a VOIP provider which does IAX termination (exgn.net) After getting an account and following their steps, I can make calls out using my IAX (cubix) and

OT: List of VoIP providers?
I have been looking around for VoIP providers but have not found a good listing. Is there no "yellow pages" for VoIP providers? Google mostly returns services like Vonage, Packet8, NuFone, ect. None seam to be very reseller friendly and none offer LNP or local DID's for my area. Anyone know of a list (even a partial one) Jeromie Reeves

Poor VoIP voice quality in one direction from three providers
We currently use asterisk 1.4.x with two Zaptel cards connected to POTS lines. So we make "outbound" calls from their softphones (using ulaw format), which go over a dedicated DSL line to the asterisk server in our office, which then converts the calls to POTS. This all works fine, assuming there aren't any unusual problems. It sounds as good as POTS on both ends. However, we

Question about VoIP providers
Hi Everyone, Does anyone know of any Canadian VoIP providers that offer all of the following: 1. DIDs in Canada, U.S., and Europe 2. BYOD (i.e. connect to Asterisk directly) 3. Setting of CallerID for outgoing calls 4. Multiple concurrent calls per account (or some other method to accommodate many concurrent outgoing calls) I've checked out the Wiki and there doesn't appear to be any

VoIP friendly Internet providers in Dallas and Philadelphia
Hi Everyone, My experience is only with the Canadian providers. What options/providers are there in Dallas and Philadelphia other than Verizon when it comes to internet? Something in the order of at least 10mbps down and up - I understand that and higher bandwidths are easily available in USA due to vast fiber networks? The connection will be replacing a T1 and will be support VPN connections to

Hi all, I would like people to email me at 'leif at hacklocalhost dot com' some example configuration files for VoIP providers which * can register with. Net2Phone equipment and different VOIP providers
Hello we are a small call center with only 8 lines we use max4 and the 2-2 port gateways from net2phone . There equipment is good but we are getting hit by lower cost competition. We need to be able to compete. We have a couple of providers who are 50% less in some cases even more. So it makes sense that we would like to be able to compete . Since we have spent quite a bit of money on existing

New user - problem getting dtmf tones through VOIP providers?
Just setting up Asterisk. I'd like to be able to dial out through VOIP providers and have customers type in a code in response to a prompt. So far, I've been able to set things up to make the call and play the prompt. However, my problem now is the DTMF tones; they don't register when I call get_data. When I make a call in person (from the DIAX softphone, through a VOIP provider,

Registering VoIP providers with realtime
Hi guys, I'm using realtime DB connection to get sip.conf and voicemail.conf data from a MySQL engine. I've been wondering if I could include my VoIP providers (the entry "register => user:pass@domain/extension" that is found in sip.conf) in the database so that a provider peer can be dynamically retrieved from the DB, but I had no luck at this time. Did any of us find

Opinions on the best wholesale origination/term providers
I've been losing patience with my current provider, a small company called Sellvoip. Their termination is good, and they are asterisk based, but they are understaffed and have no concept of customer service. So I'm shopping. I am interested in the opinions of others on the providers they work with. Here are my criteria, roughly in order a) Decent quality, low latency. In

Multiple outgoing calls through VOIP providers
Trying to get some straight info from the VOIP providers is difficult. Say there's a small Asterisk switch and it's registered with Broadvoice or LiveVOIP or someone. There are a couple of people using the switch, one is on an outgoing call with the VOIP provider. What happens when someone else initiates another outgoing call through that provider on the same SIP registry? Does * know
