ices2 streaming mp3's
Hello,
I'm trying to set up an internal broadcasting center for a company.
They've got a great many mp3's they'd like to do. I'd like to use either
icecast or icecast2 for this and darkice or ices2 as a streamer. This will
be on a FreeBSD 5.0 machine. As of now i have not had great success with
this setup primarily in the streamer area. I can get either icecast1 or 2
going

Ices 0.x is still developed. So is ices2. They're independent
codebases with substantially different capabilities and users. Yes, in
retrospect naming it ices2 was a poor

file only storing with ices 2 ?
Hi !
my question is how to totally switch off the Ices2
logging into the Icecast server ?
I wan't to use ices only to save archives (24h/d),
without any streaming, but when I try start Ices, see:
[2005-01-19 17:27:05] EROR stream/ices_instance_stream
Failed initial connect to localhost:8000 (Couldn't
connect: Connection refused)
and Ices clears buffers etc. and shuts itself down :-(

<p>ah ha!
Is ices2 adventageous to use (other than ogg-vorbis) since I have it
installed. I guess I am wondering if this is where most of the development
focus will be placed and currently there is a phasing out of ices1 development.
I am just needing to

ices stdinpcm
I have problems with the stdinpcm module in ices2. The player fills its
buffer and doen't play anything and fill the buffer again and this
repeats (with winamp). when I download the stream with wget I can play
it from hard disk... is this a common problem with ices2 or do only I
experience this behaviour?
the oss module works.

Live mp3-stream with ices 0.3 or ices 2?
Is it somehow possible to make a live-mp3-stream with ices0 or ices2?

ices can't logon to server
Where can I get ice2? (Seems ices2 doesn't actually exist.) is it useable?
>Fromwhat I found on google, the cvs web listing says the code hasn't been
touched in 22 months, and that it's mostly incomplete.
Should I just use icescast and ices?

MP3/OGG/The whole thing
Hello all Icecasters!
I'm using icecast 1.3.12 and iceS 0.2.3 (with a self-made patch for VBR MP3,
and an extensive Perl script for automatisation) to stream radio. Works great!
I've tried to understand everything about MP3/OGG and Icecast and since I'm a
stupid person I need to draw things all the time ;) - so I need you to tell me
if I've misunderstood anything in this scheme:

Ices 2.0 - make error
I don't know if this thread belongs here, but I'll try it anyway.
I want to install ices2 on my OpenBSD 3.4 server.
If I want to "make" Ices2 there appears this error:
/usr/ices-2.0.0/src/ices.c:117: undefined reference to 'xmlFree'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
**** Error code 1

Yes, that seemed to work. Thanks.
However, even though I did a 'make install' it's still launching
ices 2.0 when I type 'ices' from the command line.
So, how do I specify 0.2.3?
Can I have both ices 2.0

multiple ices streams and misc other stuff?
Hi all: I was just wondering when the multiple streams stuff might be
checked in to cvs. I remember the gentleman working on it saying he
basically had it running? The reason I'm asking is that I have
received a number of requests to stream my mp3 stream at various
bitrates. I kind of think running three ices streamers is silly if
multiple streams will be available in the near future.

Do you mean ices 0.2.3? If so, I'm still getting the same error.

title streaming with ices
Please correct me if I'm wrong but the album title isn't exposed by the status-json file.
I'd really like to be able to expose this as well. I'm using EZStream but I think the configuration / exposure needs to be configured on the Icecast2 side.

IceCast and ICES
I?ve successfully implemented IceCast on a Raspberry Pi and can access the stream ONLY if I use an ffmpeg statement to start the stream. Unfortunately, the stream is choppy and the sound quality is poor. I?ve tried using ICES, but I don?t get any sound.
Terminal command that works:
ffmpeg -ac 2 -f alsa -i hw:0,0 -acodec mp3 -ab 48k -ac 2 -content_type audio/mpeg -f mp3 icecast://source:password

ices live streaming problems?
Hi,
I worked all last night trying to get this thing going. Followed the
instructions for setting up icecast2 and ices2, have my config file all
set. I startup ices, and it seems to connect (icecast logs show source
connected) but when I try to hit the server with xmms, it just keeps
pre-buffering, like it will pre-buffer 100%, then instead of just playing,
it will just start pre-buffering again.

Running ices on startup
Hi everyone.
I'm running icecast and ices2 on OpenSuse 10.2 (could upgrade to 11.0 in a breeze though).
What I'm trying to achieve right now is to use this for a kind of "baby-phone" functionality.
That means:
1. There is a microphone attached to the server which records sound in the room
2. I'm in another room, listening to the server on Winamp, so I can hear what goes on

suggestion: add mp3 support to ices2
It says here there hasn't been much interest in handling mp3 with ices2:
http://www.icecast.org/files/ices_docs/faq.html
I just wanted to mention that I'm interested in doing so. I use ices
for a web-based jukebox project called Tunez. I have tried the other
suggested icecast streamers and have had major problems with both of
them (muse and liveice). It would be really cool if the

Streaming MP3 and OGG with one Ices
Hello.
I understand that ices 0.3 is capable of streaming mp3 to an Icecast 2
server, and that ices 2 is capable of streaming ogg to an Icecast 2
server, but what I'm really after is a single version of ices that can
stream mp3 and ogg to an Icecast 2 server. Does such a thing exist?
Currently 90% of my audio files are mp3, but I am starting to use ogg
instead for new files. However as it
