Able to tell if phone is registered?
Hi All,
I have a new asterisk setup running at home and am very happy with it.
One thing that I am trying to do is to take various actions in the
dialplan *if* a particular phone is registered/authenticated/connected.
For example, if someone dials *me* and is shows that I am connected via
my softphone, to try it instead of my deskphone (and possibly notifiy
the user in advance that it is

Hai Rowland,
I think you are mixing a few settings.
http://www.zytrax.com/books/dns/ch7/queries.html#additional-from-auth
additional-from-auth yes | no ;
additional-from-cache yes | no ;
And
www.zytrax.com/books/dns/ch7/queries.html#auth-nxdomain
auth-nxdomain yes | no;
If auth-nxdomain is 'yes' allows the server to answer authoritatively (the
AA bit is set)
when returning

G.729 licensing - Hardware Devices rather than software
I have been reading a number of the past threads about G.729 licensing., about
how the registration keys are linked to the network configurations, limited
number of registrations etc, etc.
Is there no reason why the decoding can't be done in with some Asterisk
compatible hardware, so that once the adapter is bought, all licensing issues
go away.
In that way the owner could fiddle with the

[LLVMdev] RFC: Plugable intrinsics
I can think of many people that use LLVM and maintain out of tree
extentions that will likely never be incorporated into mainline.
Maintaining out of tree intrnisics takes a fair amount of work and leads
to the choice of using a single version of LLVM for a project (and thus
have to manually incorporate bug fixes) or risk untimely breakage. I
propose that the plugin be extended to allow plugable

Some IAX questions
Hi All,
I am trying to figure out how Asterisk determines which [user] an
incoming IAX connection is for?
Is it based on their source address? (I think possible)
Is it based on their credentials (unlikely, I think, since we can set
insecure=very)
Also, for a [peer] section - when is the host= resolved? Is name
resolution attempted every time the channel is opened?
Thanks!

Regular expressions in R
Good afternoon list,
I have the following character strings; one with spaces between the maths
operators and variable names, and one without said spaces.

benefit + benefit / benefit1 + product + action * mean + CTA + help + mean

Adding extra fields from an external source
Hi,
I have an existing (Open)LDAP which I'm using with dovecot and I would
like to implement quotas. I have global quotas working, but I would like
per user quotas similar to what is described in the wiki
(http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Quota/Configuration#LDAP) My problem is that
there is no obvious attribute in the schemas shipped in the RHEL/Centos
6 to hold the quota string.
Is it possible to

Polycom & VPN trouble
Hi All,
I am a remote office that is connected to my office via openvpn on UDP.
Voip has always worked well (after discovering g729). Initially I used a
softphone, then an analog set on a sipura 2000, then a polycom IP500 (I
still LOVE this phone). At that point, I started noticing that the
polycom doesn't ring a lot of the time. Since I was desperate for a
phone, I didn't upgrade
