mixing tcp/ip and ib/rdma in distributed replicated volume for disaster recovery.
Hi,
we would like to build a gluster storage systems that combines our
need for performance with our need for disaster recovery. I saw a
couple of posts indicating that this is possible
(http://gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-users/2010-February/003862.html)
but am not 100% clear if that is possible
Let's assume I have a total of 6 storage servers and bricks and want
to spread them across 2

Help with extensions - can't dial 700
I have been working on integrating some FXS ports into my dial plan
delivered via a channel bank and testing with an analog handset.
The receptionist is on Extension 700. All other SIP phones are 7XX.
>From a SIP phone I can dial 700 and all other extensions.
>From the analog handset I can dial any other extension but not the 700
number. Weird? Yep.
The CLI does not show any dialing when I

Internet Telephony, net2phone
As a newbie, can anyone advise me if Asterisk can route international calls
to a US based service such as Net2Phone so we can take advantage of the
internet and save on calls?
That would be my main reason for an Asterisk based PBX.

OT: Setting a CentOS to gateway a private IP address
This is mildly off topic since it has more to do with TCP/IP networking
than with CentOS per se. However, at the risk of ruffling a few feathers
I would like some advice on how to resolve the following routing problem:
Given:
dual homed host running CentOS-5.2 with
eth0 = 2xx.yyy.zzz.23
eth1 = 192.168.219.1
and a Cisco gateway at 2xx.1xx.y7y.1 with the following networks:

samba 3.0.24 works - samba 3.0.25 fails
Folks:
I've got several systems attached to a 2003 domain where we use
kerberos to authenticate.
When I upgraded a system to the latest greatest samba things stopped
working. Just to find where it happened in the different versions of
samba I downloaded, built, & ran 3.0.23d to 3.0.25c using the same
smb.conf file. Turns out the 2.0.23d and 3.0.24 works but from 3.0.25
on it fails.

no mapping between account names and security ids was done
I use a openLDAP database for authentication on my Redhat 7.2 server. The
domain is "HOME". I have had no problem adding trust accounts and
authenticating against it.
Today I had to change the name of my Win2K workstation from poseiden to
poseiden1 for compatibility with a package I am testing. Once I changed it
and put in a new trust account, I could not rejoin the domain.
I gave up and

Fail over
For all my PBX installations I want to have Fail Over on the main incoming
PSTN line so that a power outage does not leave the offices stranded. Is
there any commercial solution to this? I would rather a finished product
than a home soldering project.

Script to kill dictionary spam attacks
Does anyone have a script that will notice a Rumplestiltskin type spam
attack (where they try every name possible) and drop the sending into a
block list?

Dynamic updating DNS with win2K workstations
My office network has a RH 7.3 server running Bind 9, Samba, WINS for
NetBIOS name resolution, ten+ Win2K workstations, and uses DHCP from the
Linksys router to hand out IPs for the workstations.
Is there any way to do dynamic DNS updates so that the workstations' IPs
are tracked in DNS?

Upgrade RPM for redhat 9 to solve password change problem
My redhat 9 server is using samba-2.2.7a-8.9.0 - everything was fine until I
recently tried to change the users password from his workstation, and got
the famous "Domain is not available" error. I would like to upgrade the
server's samba install but not anything else as everything on the server is
stable and I can't have a lot of disruption if there are upgrade problems,

Teliax Problems
One might also conclude that during the outage the support people were
focusing on getting the system back up and were not near phones. At
least that is what I would bet on. Just a thought considering how most
of the smaller ITSPs seem to work.
Cheers,
Wiley

Public phone
A client wants to put phones in a semi-public place, using a Calling
Card solution. What kind of hardware is suitable? I'm looking for a wall
mounted booth, a SIP phone that can't easily be broken, but I might just
use cheap analog phones and a channel bank.
What do you suggest for the calling card software?
This installation will be outside the US.

Problem with Sangoma/Adtran 600 installation
I have installed Asterisk on a CentOS4 box and then installed Asterisk from
CVS.
I installed a Sangoma A101 and connected it to a Adtran 600 using a T1
Crossover cable. The 600 has 12 x FXS, 12 x FXO interfaces.
I ran through the wanpipe install instructions and configured it, now I can
run

Building source rpms does not build all the rpms.
I just downloaded the 2.2.4-2 src.rpm file from samba.org and installed and
compiled on my intel-redhat 7.2 system.
When I changed to /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386 I found only
i386/samba-2.2.4-2.i386.rpm in it.
There was no other rpms, even though the spec file says there will be.
Here's the last few lines of the build output, I only see two rpms being
created.

Name resolution problem, looking for advice on best solution
I have a Redhat 7.2 server for DNS, Web, File Sharing via Samba, for my
SOHO network of 6 Win2K workstations. I have a workgroup, not a domain.
The server is on a static IP and the workstations are DHCP assigned the
Dlink gateway, which also tells them the DNS IP.
I am having a problem where some of the workstations can see some of
the others in Network Neighbourhood, but some can't. SMB

Help with installing on Supermicro X6DHT-G server Marvell H2 SATA
I am trying to build a file server with 1 x 80 GB main drive and 4 x 500
GB SATA drives in RAID in a Supermicro 3U server.
I found out the hard way that Centos 4.2 does not have a driver for the
onboard Marvell H2 controller the drives are connected to.
Supermicro techs sent me aar81xx.rhel4qu2.i686.img as an img file. I
used dd to copy to a floppy and dd confirmed successful write.

Directory went missing
I had a major problem to today. The owner of a company I built a network
for had a directory in her home directory containing most of her work
documents go missing. I looked at the log for her workstation and she
did work on them in the morning. By afternoon, she return to her
workstation and tried to open the directory but it was gone.
The directory and all the directories and files were there
