installing asterisk for Ubuntu Synaptic
I have an Ubuntu system and went into Synaptic and checked asterisk for
installation. Once installed, I started it with /usr/sbin/asterisk -vvvgc
and got the following output with several errors and notices. Do I need to
do more or are these ok? I expected to have some conf files in
/etc/asterisk but there is nothing there.
Thanks!

app_dial.c:977 dial_exec_full: Unable to create channel of type 'Zap' (cause 0)
Hi,
Ive been struggling with asterisk for a few days now. I understand
pretty much how it works and how to tie things together (SIP -> SIP
internally works fine etc), but just cannot get asterisk to work with an
X100P clone (its a Ambient MD3200, if that means anything to you guys).
I have tried (initially) asterisk 1.07 with zaptel 1.07, and now
Asterisk CVS-HEAD with zaptel cvs. Both give

I have a macro and when I call it I have something like this:
exten => s,1,NoOp(Group Count: ${GROUP_COUNT(MYGROUP)})
exten => s,n,Set(GROUP()=MYGROUP) ;Set Group
exten => s,n,NoOp(Group List: ${GROUP_LIST()})
exten => s,n,NoOp(Group Count: ${GROUP_COUNT(MYGROUP)})
The GROUP_COUNT returns zero before the call to GROUP but also returns 0 after
the call to GROUP.

[PATCH v2 32/33] iommu: Remove add_device()/remove_device() code-paths
From: Joerg Roedel <jroedel at suse.de>
All drivers are converted to use the probe/release_device()
call-backs, so the add_device/remove_device() pointers are unused and
the code using them can be removed.

[PATCH] libxl/build: print a pretty message if flex/bison are needed but not found
This patchs adds better support for both Flex and Bison, which might be needed
to compile libxl. Now configure script sets BISON and FLEX Makefile vars if
bison and flex are found, but doesn''t complain if they are not found.
Also, added some Makefile soccery to print a nice error message if Bison or Flex
are needed but not found.
Please run autogen after applying this patch.

bison/flex version warning
Hi,
(I seem to be having some trouble getting messages to post on the list so
I may be duplicating an earlier post. Apologies if this is the case.)
I am compiling CVS tip Asterisk on a fresh CentOS 3.4 install. I got
this warning:

[PATCH v2 11/33] iommu: Split off default domain allocation from group assignment
From: Joerg Roedel <jroedel at suse.de>
When a bus is initialized with iommu-ops, all devices on the bus are
scanned and iommu-groups are allocated for them, and each groups will
also get a default domain allocated.
Until now this happened as soon as the group was created and the first
device added to it. When other devices with different default domain
requirements were added to the group

[LLVMdev] Including flex/bison output in cvs
Hi all,
At the moment, LLVM includes the .l, .y sources that are compiled by
flex and biston via make. This is fine for most unix developers. For
windows developers, it's a bit more of a pain to download flex/bison,
but is still a one-time thing.
However, anyone releasing an llvm frontend will require their users to
have flex/bison. Most (but not all) unix boxes have them, but almost

Everyone-- the scoop on Bison/Flex --
Hey, everybody---
Ignorance CAN be bliss, at least for a while, but, .... Just so you
know...
A week or two ago, some upgrades to the expression parser (you know, the
expressions you put in $[ ... ] in your extensions.conf file) that I
submitted, have been merged into the CVS HEAD of the source.
Hopefully, for around 99.9% of you, it won't make any difference to you.
The Makefile has also

fatal error if Flex and Bison is not configured
Hi all,
I try to build xen 4.2( revision number: 25161) on Ubuntu 11.10_amd64, Mac
pro. After running ./configure and make. I got the following fatal error:
*libxlu_cfg_y.y:22:26: fatal error: libxlu_cfg_l.h: No such file or
directory compilation terminated.*
So the original libxlu_cfg_l.h is deleted when making, and should be
regenerated but it is not. I find the path of flex and bison is not

Failsafe AGI using AEL
For the mailing list archive and for anyone else interested.
A few years ago we needed to automatically run a second AGI if the first AGI failed i.e. a "failsafe" setup. Mainly because I'm not a very good programmer. 8-|
The code below is very similar to what we use in production. This code is also at http://pastebin.com/LBaLhdfJ for a while. "sm" stands for Switch
