R issue with unequal large data frames with multiple columns
I'm a bit of an amateur R programmer. I can do simple R scenarios but my handle on complex grammatical issues isn't steady. I have 12 CSV files that I've read into dataframes. Each has 8 columns and over 2000000 rows. Each dataframe has data associated by time component and a date component in the format of: X.DATE and then X.TIME X.DATE is in the format of MMDDYYYY and X.TIME is

Rails 2.2.2 - Mysql::Error: MySQL server has gone away
My app consists of receiving emails with image attachments from its users so I have been employing the MMS2R gem and Fetcher. Every 60 seconds the app goes to the email server to fetch emails. Under Rails 2.1.1 things worked fine - when I received an email, the email was fetched, parsed and saved to the database. However I needed to upgrade to Rails 2.2.2 for unrelated reasons and now I get the

Bayesian regression stepwise function?
Hi everyone, I am wondering if there exists a stepwise regression function for the Bayesian regression model. I tried googling, but I couldn't find anything. I know "step" function exists for regular stepwise regression, but nothing for Bayes. stepwise regression
Dear all, I have encountered a problem when perform stepwise regression. The dataset have more 9 independent variables, but 7 observation. In R, before performing stepwise, a lm object should be given. fm <- lm(y ~ X1 + X2 + X3 + X11 + X22 + X33 + X12 + X13 + X23) However, summary(fm) will give: Residual standard error: NaN on 0 degrees of freedom Multiple R-Squared: 1, Adjusted

Stepwise regression
Dear all, I am wondering why the step() procedure in R has the description 'Select a formula-based model by AIC'. I have been using Stata and SPSS and neither package made any reference to AIC in its stepwise procedure, and I read from an earlier R-Help post that step() is really the 'usual' way for doing stepwise (R Help post from Prof Ripley, Fri, 2 Apr 1999 05:06:03
