SpanDSP issues (oh fun!)
I am having classic "frame slip" symptoms on 4 different systems with 4
different providers (all full PRIs, Qwest, XO, Xspedius, and First Digital
are the providers). By classic I mean pages cut short. I do not hear
clicks on calls however, and faxing from a fax machine plugged into the
asterisk box via an fxs port (no VoIP) faxes just fine through the PRI.
Also, faxing directly from

is asterisk and/or spandsp what I need for integration with Cisco?
Hello list.
I've been running a Cisco VOIP WAN for the last two years using CallManager V3.2. The remote 1760 routers are set up as H323 gateways. I've got a VG200 that is my PSTN gateway with a full T1 voice trunk to the local CO. I'm also running Unity v3.x for voicemail.
We are currently using two ATA186 devices that are using the G.711 codec to pass incoming calls on the T1

Re: SpanDSP TXFax and multipage faxes problems (aditional info)
OK I see the ponit (although I never said that second page is interrupted -
I said that in some combinations of resolutions and TIFF options receiving
fax "spits" another blank sheet of paper beside the clearly received first
page).
I have read someware (some faxing tutuorial) that there is some kind of
control code (6 EOLs I belive) that should be in TIFFs between pages and

Max concurrent faxes with txfax/spandsp?
Hi,
I tried to use txfax to send several faxes at the
same time.
It seams, that one can't send more than 3 faxes at once,
or one risks to get 50% and more aborted faxes due to
errors.
The CPU usage is below 97%.
I tried with Opteron and IntelP4: same result.
Ok, I know, that faxing via a digital line is complicate,
and I shouldn't complain, but I would like to know, whether
these are

spandsp-0.0.2pre11
Hi,
People often send me audio logs from spandsp's soft-fax machine, where
they have problems with corruption in the middle of a page for most or
all of their faxes. Their problems are usually due to frame slips.
However, recently I have received audio logs from two people who
generally have great success with my software, but who find one or two
machine regularly fail to send faxes

Zap Clocking - Frame Slips - tdm400p wcfxo zttest cpu spikes spandsp
I've made some modifications to zttest in order to use
it as a frame clock accuracy tester / slip detector.
I'm not certain if that was it's original purpose, but it
seems that a lot of folks try to use it that way.
The result is something that I'm calling ztclock for now
to help avoid confusion.
I'm including the source at the end of this post. You

spandsp / I get only garbage in my faxes
I am trying to use spandsp 0.0.1k-whole.
I have 2 X100P working well for inbound/outbound calls.
I have tried libtiff 3.6.1 and 3.5.7
With 3.6.1 I get only faxes all black, and 3.5.7, I get blank vertical
lines and the rest all black also.
During the transmittion, apparently there is nothing that can indicate any
error except some "Training errors".
The sender fax thinks that the fax

Receiving faxes with spandsp - strange problem
Hello,
I'm trying to receive faxes with asterisk. My configuration is like this:
PSTN fax -> ISDN -> Cisco router with VoIP module -> Asterisk
When I try to send a fax from PSTN fax I got the standard fax signal,
Asterisk starts rxfax application and then call ends and there is no tif
anywhere. On the fax display there is still one message: Calling...

Sending many faxes simultaneously with spandsp
I have a potential client that wants to send many faxes simultaneously,
over E1 trunks.
How CPU intensive is spandsp's txfax? How many concurrent faxes could
be sent by a decent CPU (e.g. Xeon 3GHz) before timing starts to get
disrupted?
Cheers
Tony

Re: SpanDSP TXFax and multipage faxes problems (aditional info)
Thanks for the information Lee !
Still, something is still strange to me, since this two Panasonic Fax
machines are receiving at least 20 multi-paged faxes a day (they are in same
office as both Asterisk boxes, and me :) ). Beside that, POTS lines in those
two faxes
are from same PSTN switch as line in X100P in one of Asterisk boxes, and the
ISDN PRI lines in other Asterisk box is from same PSTN

spandsp & tdm400p - recommended hardware
I've gone through about 5 computers and two linux distros (wbel and fc3)
trying to get a system that doesn't show symptoms of frame slips, can
receive faxes, and doesn't show CPU spikes with the tdm400p active.
Unfortunately I haven't had much luck.
I asked Digium whether there was a recommended hardware platform, and the
best they could come up with was a Dell 600SC - but they

Receiving faxes with spandsp question
Hello!
I?m trying to add fax functionality to my asterisk installation. Right now I?m focusing on receiving faxes. This is not explained in a book, but I assume that I can use same context, add ?fax? extension and if someone calls to send fax - it will autodetect. Right?
Per book, I made following setup additions:
1. In sip.conf [general] I added:
;FAX stuff
faxdetect=yes
t38pt_udptl=yes

Sending faxes with T.38 problem. Fax for Asterisk (no SpanDSP) - 1.6.1.1
I am testing Fax for Asterisk. But, I meet a problem. I try to Send a Fax (.tiff) from the first
asterisk (Asterisk1) to the second asterisk (Asterisk2). Asterisk1 initiates an INVITE with audio G.711. Asterisk2
accepts this INVITE. Immediately, Asterisk2 sends an re-INVITE with T.38 to Asterisk1. But, Asterisk1 responds with
"488 not acceptable here". I double check t38pt_udptl = yes in

Using SPANDSP for faxes
I installed spandsp on our asterisk server to get faxes. It works
however the images are a little off. Sometimes a few pages will be
together, pages missing and sentence missing.
Is this normal for this program?
Any input would be great.
Thank You
Eric

Asterisk - fax - spandsp
Dear all
I have a Asterisk server (version 1.0.7) running with a TE110P card
on a 3Ghz P4 machine (running nothing else but asterisk)
So far so good.
Today I was trying to receive faxes using spandsp fax client.
I used spandsp v0.0.2pre18 (which compiled against libtiff 3.5.7)
It compiled fine, installed fine, run fine.
But when sending a fax (from a Brother fax machine) the image

SpanDSP Scrunching incoming faxes
I tested SpanDSP as an internal extension, and it worked like a charm.
Now I am trying to receive faxes from a toll-free nufone DID. I am
running g.711uLaw in on this line, so no to cause too many problems.
However I receive the following errors after the fax is finished
receiving:
