Problem redirecting email using pigeonhole 0.4.0 (with patch)
Hello,
Starting from the version 0.4.0 Pigeonhole adds "X-Sieve" and
"X-Sieve-Redirected-From" headers ending them with CR+LF, and then
copies the original message (including original headers) ending the
lines with LF-only. This causes troubles at least if using Exim (I
have not checked with other MTAs)- original message gets dropped, and
only the new pigeonhole-generated

Director questions
In playing with dovecot director, a couple of things came up, one
related to the other:
1) Is there an effective maximum of directors that shouldn't be
exceeded? That is, even if technically possible, that I shouldn't go
over? Since we're 100% NFS, we've scaled servers horizontally quite a
bit. At this point, we've got servers operating as MTAs, servers doing

Emailing from Command Line
Thanks for reading,
I need certain shell scripts to email me after they are done
running. I've installed ssmtp to forward to my internal SMTP server. I have
a working ssmtp config on a Gentoo system that works just fine, but on
CentOS it's not working. Here's a bounce message:

asterisk voicemail to email and relaying
Hi list,
I'm trying to get some ideas on this subject.
Normally astersik sends emails with voicemail attached trough local MTA.
As far as i know there is no way for asterisk to authenticate to an external
mailserver to relay these emails.
Well, these days every provider has some sort of spam blocking, to add to
that usually users of asterisk are behid a dynamic IP with no PTR and list

rpm requires logic
Exists the possibility to define an RPM requires
statement with a logic? Like:
Requires: mysql-server OR mysql55-mysql-server
MTAs like postfix have "Provides: MTA" to provide
such facility. I do not see such possibility for
DB packages ...
Thanks

Downloading e-mail from a master mail server
Hi all:
I am trying to migrate a small company from Microsoft Exchange / Outlook
to Thunderbird. I am evaluating e-mail server software.
We have an Internet provider that we do not really want to rely upon. We
also do not have the resources to maintain a mail server visible from
the outside, especially regarding security updates.
Each employee has an e-mail account on our current Internet

POP3 Performance
Hi,
We actually have a mail hosting solutions with aprox. 100 thousand
of email account, where about 90% of a customers use POP3 like email
configuration. About a few mounths (we perfomed a lot of migration
throught mbox email software to Maildir with dovecot) but i can see that
the performance is very poor and receive complaint about delays of
autentications of accounts.
The solution

Delivering locally through the Submission Server
Hi all:
I am learning Dovecot step by step. I have enabled the Submission Server, in the hope that I would not need to learn other MTAs like Postfix.
The Submission Server is very comfortable: it picks up the existing Dovecot configuration, so that you do not need to configure any user
authentication separately. It is working fine on my test setup.
My first thought was that, if the recipient

Looking for a SSMTP alternative
Hello all, since the default repositories (base, updates, addons,
extras) don't have a package for SSMTP I'm looking for another small
and simple MTA.
What do you suggest? Should I just stick with Exim?
Thanks for reading,

Mail server setup for small ISP
Hi,
I will probably have to design an e-mail (and other components)
infrastructure for a small ISP soon (WISP).
I'm doing some research to determine which components would be best to
offer e-mail services to their client and allow the staff to manage
accounts easily.
I usually use virtual machines a lot for isolation and easy backups and
migration (when a hardware node is
