Polycomm IP500 dropping incoming calls
Hello everyone.
I can place outgoing calls no problem with my IP500 (using teliax as our
provider). Thing is, when a call comes in, 90% of the time when I pick up
the handset it drops the call immediately. I turned on SIP debug, and have
listed my extension config from sip.conf. Any help is greatly
appreciated.... sooo close.... TIA! -Ron

Make new server the "master"
Hi Peter,
As Rowland pointed out in a previous post to you "Each DC should use its
own ipaddress for its nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf", so the gateway IP
should not be there.
So make /etc/resolv.conf on DC01
nameserver 192.168.4.5
search internal.kcs
and /etc/resolv.conf on DC02
nameserver 192.168.4.6
search internal.kcs
If you use the internal dns backend add the following to

my questions are:
1. is it
possible?
2. is BDC needs to be setup as a WINS server

Routing issue - Revisited
A number of weeks ago I had huge help from many of you configuring routing
on a server with multiple Internet facing nics. Thanks for all of your
help!!!!
I am still having a routing issue that I am hoping someone can help me
tweek. This server, besides acting as our gateway to the internet, is also
our web and email server. The server has 4 nics. Two are connected to the

Samba AD not resolving external names
I have just set up a new AD and am having a little success with it, but DNS
resolution is a little slow.
I'm looking into why that is and tried an ns lookup for google.com and got
the answer SERVFAIL on my AD server.
The query was then passed to my next nameserver (google's own dns), which
handled the query.
Is this correct behaviour? I've not seen SERVFAIL before

Make new server the "master"
To get the question of why new servers, this one I'm using has hardware
whose remaining life is measured in days. The elastic bands and sticky tape
it is held together with won't hold for much longer. I'm using it to build
and test a new environment, but then I need to migrate that onto something
with a little more vitality before bringing it into production (in the next
56 hours).

network not accessible through bridged interface but traffic visible
I had a major HD failure and need to rebuild my host server and the virtual
servers that resided on it. I am moving from CentOS 5.6 to CentOS 6.3. I
am using the same configuration, as best as I can tell, that was working
only hours ago on 5.6 but does not work on 6.3. My guest server can see
network traffic on the bridged network device but I cannot seem to interact
with it. Iptables turned

Make new server the "master"
Thank you everyone for your help. I corrected my resolv.conf files as Peter
Milesson suggested and then had to take a number of extra steps so now
things are looking a little better. In case it helps anyone else in the
future, here's what I found (plus I am now having problems resolving
internal addresses).
As far as I can see, the setup on both servers is identical (except they

I fell asleep at my desk... and now it's working fine.
I have no idea what was wrong or why it magically fixed itself.

Samba AD not resolving external names
After reboot, the problem came back again.
Server refuses to resolve external names without "nameserver 8.8.8.8" in
resolv.conf and gives the same SERVFAIL message when doing nslookup

Understaning Domain Name Resolution
Hello,
I've read chapter 4 [and all other chapters btw] of the Samba by Example
latest version online and the mailing list archives
and have a question re: domain name resolution.
If I have a domain 'AD.NET' I can setup a zone in Bind with an SRV record
and my XP Pro clients can find the domain controller and join the domain.
A simple zone looks like this:
$ttl 38400
ad.net. IN

wbinfo -t fails, what now?
I have two samba machines, one has the problem I describe in the
earlier mail.
The other works much better and also there I have the (same) smb.conf:
egrep '^[^;]' /etc/samba/smb.conf
[global]
printing = cups
printcap name = /etc/printcap
load printers = yes
guest account = nobody
invalid users = root
security = domain
workgroup = TRITECH
server string = %h

I am having an issue with a new samba setup. My gateway server (H1 - the
new setup) is running Samba and acting as my networks wins server. It also
houses my email and web server. It is connected to a private network to
another server (H3) running Samba acting as my main file server.
The issue that I am experiencing is that H3 can view our webpage that is
hosted on H1 but my Windows machines

Changing IP Scope on a Samba DC
I would have added an extra DC..
Move FSMO
Removed old server from AD,
Cleanup AD.
Install new server with new ip's.
And Add CNAMEs where needed,
Move FSMO back.
Remove extra DC.
;-)
