Polycom IP500 Quickstart page or files?
Hi,
I just got my ip500 back after months of waiting. Is there an easy way
to get it hooked up to asterisk without [t]ftp servers and all that or
is there a quickstart page somewhere?

Polycom voice.gain.tx.analog.handset and asterisk echo
While I'm asking about the Polycom ip500, the answers for all phones
where mic/handset/headset levels are adjustable would be of interest
to many I'm sure.
For the ip500, the default value for the handset seems to be
voice.gain.tx.analog.handset="3"
I've noticed that echo all but goes away when one reduces the mic
volume on almost any phone. My question is, for you users

Polycom IP500 problem updating bootrom
I've had an IP300 for a while now and it's been working fine. I just
got an IP500 and when it connects to the FTP server it downloads the new
bootrom and says error loading.
The bootrom is fine and works on the 300... In addition, I downloaded a
new copy to be sure and it still doesn't work.
Can anyone give me some advice?

Polycom IP500 vs Cisco 7940
Hi Everyone,
I've been asked to determine which phones our organization should go
with. And I've narrowed it down to the Polycom IP500 or the Cisco 7940.
From my travels through google, it's hard to find a definitive
comparison of the two phones. So I thought I would ask the people that
have probably used both.
From what I can tell, the only major benefit the Cisco has over the

Polycom IP500 - problems with multiple simultaneous calls
Hi All -
I've got a load of Polycom phones, and for the most part, I think
they're great, but one thing that is bugging the heck out of me (and my
users) is the "on-hold" feature. When you're on a call, and another
one comes in, it doesn't ring the second line appearance on the phone,
even though I have it registered separately, and I've tried to make my

Asterisk and IP500 / IP600 Boot RoM
Hello,
Does anybody have the latest Boot ROMs for the IP500 and IP 600 Polycom
phones.
I have one of each and can't find the Boot ROM v 3 anywhere to download.
I would also love a good sample phone.cfg and sip.cfg files from an
Aussie asterisk user to look at.
Also the ip500 is having problems trying to load the bootrom 2.6.2 ? Any
ideas?
Kind regards

A@H Memory Limits
Hi
I have the latest a@h installed and everything is working perfectly.
I have been told by a collegue that a@h doesn't use the full potential of the machine it is installed on i.e. the CPU & Memory, unless the kernel has modified.
He is unsure where he heard this from and I wonderd if anyone had any other information about this or knew where I could find some?
Many Thanks

Where to get a Polycom IP500 in the UK?
I've been looking at Asterisk for a while now, and want to set up a small
installation at my house. I did originally want to get a Cisco IP phone, but
due to price and it not being easy to obtain the SIP firmware I have decided

places in the USA that sell it but nowhere in the UK.
Also can anyone recommend some good

tuning for ulaw g.711 - Polycom IP500
tuning for ulaw g.711 - Polycom IP500
I've got QoS ironed out at this point (dedicated section of bandwidth with
VoIP having priority), yet ulaw is still unusable due to small 'holes' in
the audio. Running iperf tests shows packet loss at very low percentages
(< 0.02 %), and when we do drop, it's only 1 packet at a time. I thought
ulaw was supposed to handle this OK.

Polycom IP500 Mass Configurations
Does anyone have any sample configuration files for the Polycom IP500
phones that have been cleaned from the samples that come with the 1.5.2
firmware.
I'm wondering how much is necessary, and how much will just work by
default. I am really only setting the line authentication , and
sntp/timezone-offset for each phone, and everything else is just left as
default.
Can I just pull unchanged

Polycom IP500 Problems
Hi,
Im having problems getting a polycom IP500 phone to register. Ive edited
the xml files and appropriate .cfg files and it shows up registered with no
ip address and if I go into the phones status menu and pick lines it says
its not registered. If I tell it to upload the log file it doesn't say
anything about why its not registering / what errors its getting.
Any advice is appreciated.

Where to get latest SIP bootrom/firmware for Polycom IP500 phones?
I have these phones working well with Asterisk, thanks to
http://www.freedomphones.net/polycom/files
The code there is not the most current (and my Polycom Extranet login hasn't gotten
updated yet to allow downloads). Been waiting a while for their support folks to
update the access.
If you know where I can get the 2.5.0 BootROM and 1.3.1 SIP code?
Thanks,
L.
