Identifying physical disks
I am sure this is really simple.
I have a setup of 2 disks (sda, sdb) which are outwardly identical, and
are mirrors of each other. Together they form 3 raid1 devices. Both
disks can boot.
Now sda has bad sectors, and I should replace it. But which one of the
physical disks is sda??
The machine boots fine from either one of the disks, (and the booting
disk of course is always called sda).

[Fwd: Re: [Fwd: Re: Still ATAPICAM Lockup/Slowdown]]
Thomas,
Have spoken to Soren, from my bootlog he believes that the problem is in
atapicam causing the system to lock up. He is happy to answer some
questions but doesnt have time to delve into atapicam himself.
Did you author atapicam, I have seen your name on the sourcecode, can
you help me further? Whats next?
Thanks Adam.

CentOS 5 + Nforce 4 SLI Intel SATA problems
I've been having an extremely hard time using the on board SATA
controller on my nvidia based board. I have two 160gig Maxtor SATA
drives attached to the on board controller, setup as software raid0. The
problem is the array is extremely unreliable, where I'm getting constant
I/O errors like:

end_request: I/O error, dev sda, sector

SATA DVD Burner / AHCI / CentOS 4.7 (kernel: 2.6.9-78.0.22.EL)
OK, it seems that the kernel I have (stock CentOS 4.7: 2.6.9-78.0.22.EL i686)
seems to gronk the nVideo SATA controller in AHCI mode. It is NOT able
to deal with the SATA DVD Burner I have. It is a "Sony Optiarc DVD

Ext3 Journal corruption on hitachi deskstars
I recently came across an enormous cluster of x86 clone machines running
fedora core 1 (2.4.24) which have typically all intel or amd have VIA IDE
chipsets.
They frequently experience corrupted journals rendering the ext3 partition
in read-only mode. More important than recovering the filesystem, I am
interested in finding the root of the problem.
The common hardware that all of these

[FreeBSD] Fix for ServerWorks HT1000 in upcoming 7.1?
Hi,
I have a server (Dell PowerEdge SC1435, ServerWorks HT1000) on which
I'd like to try installing FreeBSD. I've already failed to make 7.0
work on this box and was wondering if you have information about the
behavior of the upcoming 7.1 on this hardware.
I've been following the "HT1000 chipset errata saga" thread, and the
commits by sos@ to CVS (around Jan 2008), but have

Problem with secondary sata controller
I am having problems getting my 64-bit Debian Squeeze (Xen version 4.0, Linux Kernel 2.6.32) dom0 to recognize a harddrive connected to a secondary sata controller. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 and has two sata controllers. The first is controlled by an Intel X79 chipset and the second is controlled by a Marvell 88SE9172 chip. according to http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/sys/dev/amr/amr.c?only_with_tag=RELENG_6
it seems MegaMGR for linux now can work. Any experience?

x101p + Nortel ATA2
Hi,
Does anyone have any experience connecting Asterisk to a Meridian
system using an ATA2 and x101p?
The basics work -- I can make outbound calls, receive inbound, and use
flash to transfer calls, but certain things do not work, specifically
with calls from internal extensions.
- Does the Meridian/ATA2 pass any kind of callerid info? We do not
have external callerid, but I'm not even
