Re: Need some guidance re: two domains sharing the same workstations
Hello Matt, I've had similar misfortunes too with interdomain trusts. I think you're working along the right lines since you seem to want to do the same thing as I. However the NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL is an error I always get when trying to connect to the IPC$ share of the PDC of the trusting domain. In my case the trusting PDC is a Windows 2003 Server. I know it's not an issue

Building rpms
I have been asked to update OpenLDAP to the latest stable version. I am using CentOS 4.2 and have OpenLDAP 2.2.13 installed. I can install from source if I have to, but I would rather stay with rpm packages if possible. I found an rpm from Fedora Core Development on RPMFIND. Will this one work with Centos, or should I grab the source rpm and rebuild it? Bowie

tftp server with mysql backend
Are there any open source efforts ( I haven't found any) that have a tftp server with a mysql backend? I'd like an incoming pxelinux request to give the tftp server the mac address, and then it performs a query to find out which configuration file it should get. Of course it would be great if some day tftp-hpa would integrate with libmysql.. Thanks, James James S. Martin, RHCE

System on time
Hi, To get my system on time, I usually issue these two commands: # ntpdate de.pool.ntp.org # hwclock -w And when I want this to be done on startup, I put the two lines in rc.local. I wonder if this is an orthodox way to do things. Or is there something more appropriate? Niki Kovacs

Kickstart, package always selected
I'm trying to kickstart a Centos 4.1 system with the minimum set of packages. I have no use for ypbind so I'm trying to prevent from being installed, but kickstart/anaconda always insist on its installation (complaining that the package is missing). This is the %packages section of my ks file so far: %packages #-@ dialup kernel grub e2fsprogs lvm2 -slocate -bluez-utils -bluez-bluefw

2.6.9-42.ELsmp kernel and 3ware 9550 tools
I have the latest kernel with the drivers for my 3ware 9550SX built in. Where can I find the tools and monitoring apps for this card? Are there rpms hiding somewhere, or do I need to build it from source? -- Bowie

Rebuilding RPMs
I am trying to install the Cluster RPMS from rpm.karan.org. But since I have updated my kernel with yum, I have the wrong kernel for a couple of the packages. # rpm -i --test cman-kernel-smp-2.6.9-36.0.i686.rpm error: Failed dependencies: /lib/modules/2.6.9-11.ELsmp is needed by cman-kernel-smp-2.6.9-36.0.i686 kernel-smp = 2.6.9-11.EL is needed by cman-kernel-smp-2.6.9-36.0.i686

trying to recompile
Hi All, I am trying to recompile the stock kernel to include XFS. At install time of the OS I select to install the kernel source code however I do not have a /usr/src/linux-2.6.9-5.0.3.EL-smp directory. I then learned you must run "yum install kernel-sourcecode" to properly install the source. When I run the command this is what happens ( see below) . The error I get is: warning:

Is 3.4 the same as 3.3 with all updates?
I guess the subject says it all.. :) I am still new to Centos so I am not sure on the upgrade path and what is the best way to stay up to date.. Will updates for 3.3 still be added to the yum repo or do I need to upgrade/update my system to 3.4? Thanks

Upgrade 3.4 --> 3.7 went awry: rpmdb hosed
I installed CentOS 3.4 from a CD image I'd burned a while ago, and then attempted to update with yum to 3.7. All the packages installed OK, but at the very end of final cleanup I got an error message from db4 saying to "RUN RECOVERY". I did "rpm --rebuilddb" which may have been the wrong thing -- it issued an error about "pages missing". I then ran it again,
