MailScanner SPAM Forward & Postfix Problem
First, thanks to the CentOS folks for creating such as awesome distro!
Second, thanks to all for contributing to such an great mailling
list!
I installed MailScanner/SpamAssassin/ClamAV last week based on the
excellent threads that have recently discussed the subject. For folks
who missed it, I used Johnny's wonderful guide at

Mailscanner and Postfix
I have just followed Johnny Hughes' excellent walk-through on how to install
Postfix, MailScanner with ClamAV and Spamassassin and it seems to be running
fine during in house testing, but I want to make sure that it behaves itself
when it goes live serving about 250 users; I have read comments elsewhere
both for and against the use of Mailscanner with Postfix, and when I
mentioned the subject

unable to send mails via postfix/dovecot SASL
Hello,
I have a freshly setup postfix/dovecot mail server (after a server
upgrade I decided to change my sendmail/popper conf to something more
modern :)
It mostly works, there is no problem in sending/receiving mails in local
network, both using text clients like mutt or pine dealing with the
incoming/outcoming mail directly. Also dovecot works fine with SSL
authentication from the outside

Dovecot Sieve and Postfix header_checks Issue
Hello List,
I tried to subscribe but it's taking forever for the confirmation email to arrive so I thought I would ask away by emailing directly. My apologies in advance should this question appear twice.
It may seem real simple to experts but I cannot really figure it out. I'll try to be concise:
Dovecot version is 2.1.7. Its dovecot ?n is real short one and follows right after my

Install Guide for PostFix (with DoveCot, SquirrelMail, MailScanner, ClamAV) on CentOS-4
Ok, I have been working (for quite a while) on an install guide for
PostFix (with DoveCot, SquirrelMail, MailScanner, ClamAV) on CentOS-4.
A full install is part 1 (Postfix / Dovecot / Cyrus-Sasl), Part 3
(SquirrelMail) and Part 4 (MailScanner, Spam Assassin, ClamAV).
I am still working on Part 2 (Postfix / Cyrus-Imap / Cyrus-Sasl). It
will go with Part 3 and Part 4 (same as above) to get a

Mail server - MailScanner/Baruwa/postfix/...
Hi All ;)
Currently I am gathering info about possible components for a mailserver. I
think that MailScanner/Baruwa/postfix will be a good choice. I set up a
similar system (with MailWatch instead of Baruwa) about 3 years ago and had
very good experience ;) What do you think about MailScanner/Baruwa now? Do
you maybe use any good alternatives and can recommend them?
Thanks for all help ;)

MailScanner and SpamAssassin
I acknowledge beforehand that this list is not the primary place to
discuss these specific applications, but I am pressed for time and
many of you have a great deal of experience with these two products.
We have MailScanner configured to use SpamAssassin and it works
exactly as we wanted. Up until now. I now need to allow messages
classified as spam to be delivered to a single mailbox. I

mailscanner on centos4
Anyone here running mailscanner on CentOS4?
I'm using the latest MS with sendmail on x86_64 dual-Xeon.
Messages seem to vanish after arriving, not even showing in mqueue.in .
Anyone else with a similar setup, working or not?
Thanks,

Use postfix and spamd on CentOS 6 - looking for a shortest guide
Hello fellow CentOS-users,
on the net there are lots of Spamassassin related HOWTOs - describing how
to create a shell script for Postfix and how to install Spamassassin and
start its spamd daemon - step by step. Additionally antivirus setups are
described...
But I have a strong feeling, that this is unneeded on CentOS 6 - because
there are already preconfigured stock packages for postfix and

Question with MailScanner?
Hi,
I am happily running sendmail with MailScanner on CentOS 4.4. But I have an
question.
My question is that there are huge number of mails in /var/spool/mqueue.in .
Why is that? My hard disk would go to waste. Can I delete them? or are
these real mails.

More questions about patch management
I'm still trying to get an idea about how best to handle patches on
CentOS.
Say I want to apply security patches automatically on a nightly basis.
But when the push from 4.2 to 4.3 comes around, I want to defer that for
when I can do it manually.
Is that possible? (Preferably with yum, but I would use up2date if that
were necessary.)
Also, I'm used to doing 'yum update'. I

Dovecot LDA with sendmail/Mailscanner
Hello!
I'm running dovecot in a sendmail/Mailscanner/procmail/mbox environment.
I want to use dovecot lda because index files aren't updated when using
sendmail as lda.
Has someone this combination running and some configuration hints so that
sendmail, Mailscanner and procmail ist working well.
Does procmail work with lda, too?
Thank you for the answer.

sieve & vacation question
We have a setup where a Postfix gateway does virtual_alias rewriting
of the envelope sender:
ralf.hildebrandt at charite.de get rewritten to hildeb at postamt.charite.de
The mail is then sent on to postamt.charite.de, the Mailbox server.
There we use deliver & doecot. The sieve vacation recipient says it won't answer if:
"The envelope recipient is not found in the message To:, Cc:

postfix and mail origin checks
hi,
Whats the 'robust' way to make sure email to a specific destination is
only accepted if it came over the localhost:25 or /usr/sbin/sendmail
route ? anything else should get a 5xx error. Emails to other
destinations should remain unaffected.
Using postfix/c4. Had a look around, and header_checks might be one way
to go.

PATCH: increase network congestion resilience
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
find a patch which is an update to a patch sent months ago. Before it was
in net/sock.c, now I moved it to format.c, so net CVS module is not
affected. It polls the socket before trying to send() any byte to check
if the TCP buffers are full due to network congestion.
See below the warning messages of "normal" (at least in
