RHEL Un question
Please excuse my ignorance, since I have not used any RedHat
(enterprise or otherwise) until Fedora FC3 (a few weeks) and now
CentOS4 (permanently). I keep finding references to Un (I believe it's
up to U5 now) in references to bugfixes, etc for RHEL. I presume (?)
these are dot releases after the initial release?
Is there anything equivalent for CentOS, or is this RedHat only behavior?
TIA,

loop in R
Dear all,
I need to do a loop in R, but I am not sure the software is generating "n" times the variables I request differently. When I ask to print the last matrix created, I just can see the loop for n=1.
To be more precise, supose I need to simulate 10 times one variable and I want to fit the 10 variables simulated in a matrix. I dont really know what I am doing wrong, but I just

package 'synchronization' for multiple systems
I'm setting up multiple systems and ideally I want the same package
configuration on all of them. So I'm going through yum and rpm queries
manually to try and get this done. There must be a better way. Is
there a way to use yum or rpm to configure multiple systems with the
same packages?
If yum or rpm has something native built into it to do this, that would
be great. If

Changing booted Kernel with grub
Hi,
I have updated the kernel to 2.4.21-27.0.2 on Centos 3.4 (was 3.3 when
I did the kernel update) and have modified grub.conf to use the single
CPU kernel:
# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg.

Firebug 1.2.0b4 for FF3
The current beta version of Firebug doesn't appear to install on
Firefox 3 on CentOS 5.2, apparently because it's reporting itself as
3.0b5 rather 3.0. I tweaked the minVersion requirement in the xpi to
3.0b5 and it seems to be working fine for me now.
In case anyone else is interested in testing it, my tweaked version is

CentOS-4 i386 errata: Configuration change for
centos-yumconf has been updated to include (but disable) all optional
centos repositories. This would allow a user to update / install from
an optional repository without needing to modify the configuration
files.
Example:
If you wanted to install a package named foo from the optional repositry
named centosplus, you would use the following command:
yum --enablerepo=centosplus install foo

Upgrade from RH-9 to CentOS-3.1, any issues?
Greetings,
I've got 4 Redhat-9 servers in a production environment and I don't feel
like moving to RHEL. So I'm testing CentOS-3.1 now. So far so good.
I'd like to get these servers moved over in the next month or so to a
better "supported" OS.
Are there any issues I should be aware of in upgrades these RH-9 boxes?
Should I be able to just stick in the Centos-3.1

New to CentOS
Hi,
I have recently discovered CentOS after it was recommended to me in one
of the forums that I participate in..
Just interested to find out how long after RH release an update does it
take for it to get released for CentOS?
I am downloading the ISO's now and hope to have a play with CentOS over
the weekend.. :)

PHP
Saw on Slashdot there are a few vulnerabilities with PHP.
Do these vulnerabilities affect the PHP that's installed?
If so, is RedHat going to backport or should I go ahead and grab from
source?

upgrade RH9?
Can you upgrade RH9 to Centos, or do you have to do a complete install?
Is there an iso with a .ks file on it to do a remote install?

hddtemp package
Just idle curiosity. I've always been fond of the simple hddtemp
utility. I tried 'yum install hddtemp' (I have dag in my repos), but
it was not found. Google found it on '/pub/dag/dries/packages...'. So
I downloaded it, installed (Centos4), and it works just fine.
Just wondering why it's not in the dag el4 repo?

What if this happens?
Does anyone have concern about this? What if Redhat stops giving SRPMS for
new releases and updates in public? If you buy a subscription to RHEL AS and
they have to give you the SRPMS because of GPL agreement can that person
provide those SRPMS to public again because of GPL? They claim they are
premium OpenSource company but they are still a company and for them money
is bottom line.

Anyone here running Cacti and rrdtool from Dag's RPMs on CentOS4.x?
Did the polling break when you yum upgraded in the last couple weeks?
Thx,

RHEL question
I work for a small company, and we're running CentOS on our servers. We
are looking to possibly move our most critical servers to RHEL. We
currently use apt to deploy software upgrades to our servers. I have a
question about RHEL subscriptions that they don't seem to be able to
answer for me. If you have an RHEL subscription, do you have access to
manually download the RPMs? We

Simalteneous Equation Doubt in R
Hi List
l am interested in developing price model. I have found a research paper
related to price model of corn in US market where it has taken demand &
supply forces into consideration. Following are the equation:
Supply equation:
St= a0+a1Pt-1+a2Rt-1+a3St-1+a5D1+a6D2+a7D3+U1 -(1)
Where D1,D2,D3=Quarterly Dummy Variables(Since quarterly data are
considered)

data summary and some automated t.tests.
I would like to preform a t.test to each of the measured variables
(sand.silt etc.) with a mean and sd for each of the treatments (up or
down), and out put this as a table.... I am having a hard time
starting- maybe it is to close to lunch. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.

Mixture of Multivariate Gaussian Sample Data
Hey, I am confused about how to generate the sample data from a mixture of
Multivariate Gaussian ditribution.
For example, there are 2 component Gaussian with prior
probability of 0.4 and 0.6,
the means and variances are
u1=[1 1]', Cov1=[1 0;0 1]
and
u2=[-1 -1]', Cov2=[1 0;0 1]
repectively.
So how can I generate a sample of 500 data from the above mixture
distribution?
Thanks.
