SIP monitor thread is hanged up on a uClinux embeded linux system
I met a strange SIP problem recently.
In an ordinary procedure, when asterisk loads sip module, a series of
functions are called sequentially:
load_module()->restart_monitor()->ast_pthread_create()->pthread_create()->do_monitor()
However in my system, pthread_create() failed to create a child thread
to execute do_monitor(), (though pthread_create() returns a successful

MusicOnHold probelms
This is my second attempt trying to get help and I am
hoping someone can. When the musiconhold extension is
matched, Asterisk attempts to execute musiconhold and
stops right away, this is what I gets:
Executing MusicOnHold("OSS/dsp", "") in new stack
-- Started music on hold, class 'default', on
OSS/dsp
-- Stopped music on hold on OSS/dsp

Date Field convert to Seconds since Epoch
Hi, I was wandering if anyone could help me with this problem:
Right now I am using a field in my database which is of type
''Date'' (in the form dd-mm-yyyy). I would like to convert this value
(for example 26-06-08) into a number of seconds since epoch or into
another form so I can compare it with todays date (from Date.now) so
that I can tell the difference between the two dates

New SMS gateway command
I thought it might be of interest to the group to pass on information about
a replacement SMS command we have developed for sending text messages from
Asterisk.
The FASTSMS command will route text messages to mobile phones in 154
countries. Applications include voicemail notifications, missed call alerts,
automated text receipts for callers (e.g. call reference number), system
alerts, etc, etc.

Driving direction sent to callers mobile phone via text/sms ?
Hi,
I'm wondering firstly if somebody already did this and what the best
way might be to go about it.
Basically I want to have a context in * which could just be a regular
extension that you can transfer an incoming caller to.
This extension could then do several things, the one bit I need advise
on is sending a sms to the
callers cell/mobile phone with driving directions.
1) Firstly it

[PATCH]: contrib/cygwin/README
Hi,
I have a small patch here which changes the Cygwin README file so
that the following fact is mentioned.
OpenSSH never uses $HOME to search for user config files but the
value in the pw_dir field in /etc/passwd.
This might be of minor interest for generic U*X folks but that's
an important fact for Cygwin users. When /etc/passwd is automatically
created under WinNT/2K it uses the values

Group Data indexed by n Variables
Hello,
the more general thing I'd like to learn here is how to compute Function of
Data on the basis of grouping determiend by n variables.
In terms of the reason why I am interested in this, I need to compute the
average of my data based on the value of the month and day across years. I
have come up withy the code below which, as far as I can see, does what I
need but getting either a more

Tiny Network-Problem with Office Software
Hi,
I am having some trouble to some Office software with wine. The Program itself starts without problems and runs quite fine. But unfortunatly I am not able to connect to our local Datebase. My Ubuntu Linux itself doesnt seem to have any problems in connecting to the server (but I admit that I don't know how to check if I can access the port 5143 that is used to connect to the database.).

Install problems with RedHat 7.0 RPM for 2.2.0
I just went through upgrading from 2.0.7 on Redhat 7.0 using the binary RPM
provided by samba.org and noticed a problem with the swat install.
It seems that the swat binary in the RPM is built to look for it's
supporting files in /usr/share/samba/swat whereas the RPM installs said
files in /usr/share/swat. This results in the following error message when
you try to access swat:

Newbie trying to throttle bandwidth
I apologize with what may be some very basics questions. I''m trying to go
through sections 9 and 15 of the LARTC FAQ, but my head can''t quite grasp
what''s going on. I''ll keep going through them to see if something clicks,
but meanwhile I was hoping someone might point me in the direction that I
should focus my efforts.

Driving direction sent to callers mobile phone viatext/sms ?
Great idea but can I ask how you intend to do the location/destination
entry?
Did you see my other email a little while ago about potentially using
speech recognition for this process?
I've copied the original email below.
Cheers,

And the winner is... (C't audio-codec test)
Salve,
the German IT-Magazin (#1) www.heise.de/ct has made an

vorbis vs. mp3 vs. realaudio
Hello,
how good is the quality with very low bitrates like 16kbps mono. 16
kbps files compressed with lame sound awful, realaudio is much better.
Will vorbis sound as good as realaudio with low bitrates?
How fast is vorbis (in comparison to lame).

Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Hello.
I've made some progress on the issue. I found a tool called TrPlayer which
is a text mode front end for real player - initially developed for the use
of the visually impaired. The theory is that I can use this and pipe the
live stream into vsound which then in turn is passed into ices or another
source client. Trouble is, I'm having all sorts of trouble compiling
Trplayer on the

Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Hello all,
I am a little new to Linux so I would appreciate some assistance with this
issue.
I have been running a Helix server streaming RealAudio encoded content live
and on-demand for a while. For the live stream, I use the Real equivalent to
Ices which on the Helix platform is called SLTA. All the content on the
server is encoded as RealAudio.
I have also successfully setup an Icecast2
