* as VM for legacy PBX?
Hi, all. I've got an old Telrad PBX with an Emagen(?) voicemail box. The
VM box, itself, is beginning to show its age. Big-time. We're thinking it
might be time to look for a replacement. I'd love to install Asterisk
with an FXO card or something, but I don't think it supports whatever
protocol legacy PBX's used to speak to VM systems. If someone can tell me

I am looking for completly wireless desktop phones. Until I realized we
needed wireless i was going to use polycom soundpoint 501's. Any
suggestions on a comparable wireless phone?

Feasibility Request
I have a ton of Nortel MICS/CICS phone systems and am looking for an easy way to integrate them.
Two questions arise:
1. Is it feasible to use asterisk as a Man in the Middle for a T1 PRI system? The idea is to intercept outbound calls from the Nortel PBX and redirect them via VoIP to another asterisk box at another branch transparently(thus saving the LD cost). Otherwise I'd pass

Adit Asterisk Cabling Connundrum.
I am hoping to replace my Nortel 8x24 switch with
Asterisk. Right now my cabling comes from my outside
phone box into my office and into a punchdown block
and leaves the punchdown block as an amphenol
connector which currently plugs into the Nortel
swicth. A second amphenol connector them plugs into
the switch and extends to another punchdown block that
I believe carries the lines throughout the

Norstar MICS
I am currently working on an Asterisk test system, and will be
presenting a demo to the Board of Directors tomorrow night. I want to
make sure I have all of my ducks in a row.
The Asterisk system will be used to replace a Norstar MICS. The
location has two PRI's coming in, with a few hundred DIDs. I know how
to make * use the DIDs incoming, and I know how Nortel uses the DIDs.
Now for the

Interpreting factor*numeric interaction coefficients
Dear all,
I am a relative novice with R, so please forgive any terrible errors...
I am working with a GLM that describes a response variable as a function of
a categorical variable with three levels and a continuous variable. These
two predictor variables are believed to interact.
An example of such a model follows at the bottom of this message, but here
is a section of its summary table:

New Asterisk Implementation
Hello,
I've been planning to replace my aging CENTREX switch with a new PBX and am seriously
considering Asterisk as my solution.
I work at a college, and we currently support just under 300 regular analog lines to
the offices and whatnot.
I was wondering.. Is asterisk ready for such a job? Would I be making a mistake
to deploy this across the campus at this time?
It seems that

median of binned values
Dear list,
I have a vector (array, table row, whatever is best) of frequency values
for categories (or bins), and I need to find the median category.
Trivial to do by hand, but I was wondering if there is a means to do it
in R in an elegant way.
The obvious medioan(vector) returns the median frequency for the binns,
and that is not what I want. i.e,:

matrix manipulations
Hi,
I am having some difficulties with matrix operations. It is a little hard to explain it so please bear with me. I have a very large data set, large enough that it needs to be split in parts in order to deal with. I can work things on these "parts" but the problem lies in adding together these parts for the final answer.
So that been said, let's say that i split the data in 2

Cisco 7960, Nortel MICS, Digital sets, ...
I have a couple of questions I'm hoping folks can help me out with.
When I search the mailing list, I see folks doing what I'm interested in
so here's hoping !
- How are people making out with interfacing to the 7960? I'm
considering buying a number of these as they look quite feature rich.
But, are they easy to interface to?
- Will I be able to interface with softkeys on

Asterisk with Adit 600
Hello,
I am connecting Asterisk to an Adit 600 via a T100P. Unfortunately I am not able to get any lights on the T100P and the Adit 600 only shows red. I have already modprobed the t100p.
Has anyone successfully connected these before?
I've tried both a cross-over cable and a standard cat 5 cable, but I can't seem to get them to work.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Using a 'for' loop : there should be a better way in R
I need to apply a yearly inflation factor to some
wages and supply some simple sums by work category. I
have gone at it with a brute force "for" loop approach
which seems okay as it is a small dataset. It looks
a bit inelegant and given all the warnings in the
Intro to R, etc, about using loops I wondered if
anyone could suggest something a bit simpler or more
efficent?

Samba Slow, and I have high Quality NICS
I have SLOW file transfers across samba to my Windows Server 2000 domain.
I am using a built in 100bT Intel Pro NIC, I have tried the built in gigabit
NIC and a PCI 3com, all with the same results.
Using iperf, I get about 45-90Mb of bandwidth from my PC's to my samba
server.
I can pull it up by \\servername <file:///\\servername> or \\ipaddress

hazard ratio of interaction Cox model
Dear Forum,
I have a question about interaction estimate in the Cox model:
why the hazard ratio of the interaction is not produced in the summary of the model?
(Instead, the estimate of the coefficient is given in the print of the model.)
# Example:
modINT <-cph( Surv(T_BASE, T_FIN,STATUS)~ NYHA + ASINI + RFP + FE_REC + XX_PR*XX_DISF)
print(modINT)

Asterisk as Voicemail Server for Option 61c?
Looks like we will be forced to make a move on our voicemail system as
Nortel has declared Meridian Mail an end of life product. Frustrating
thing is that it would seem their only reason for it is so they can
force our hand to move to Call Pilot.
Is there any documentation and feedback out there of how people have
used Asterisk as a voicemail system for a legacy PBX? We've got about

Large Asterisk installarions (~10, 000 extensions), preferably at universities
Hello,
Our university has to upgrade soon its old Nortel PBX's which holds around
10,000 extensions tied to 5 PBXes. Up to now we thought about commercial
solutions but now there is a window openning for open source solution.
However, I need examples to convince that this solution is feasible, and
preferably at other universities.
Are there any pointers for such installations?

Loop length supported by FXS module on Wildcat TDM400 card
Does anyone know (appoximately) the max loop length that the FXS module on a
Wildcat TDM400 card will drive an analog phone(over standard - say cat3 or
26 gage twisted-pair wire). It's clearly not going to be 18kft, but perhaps
4000 feet?
Thanks

Lots of FXS ports / Channel Bank ?
Hi,
I have a client that have currently 400 analog phones (all wired w/ Cat3). I need multi-ports FXS interfaces but I only find 24 ports FXS (like Mediatrix 1124) but it's a little bit expensive to get 15-16 box (~408 FXS ports).
Someone have suggestion to link all theses phones to "channel bank" ? What equipment to use ?
Currently all 400 lines are terminated in M-66 blocks and

cbind with vectors of different lengths?
Hello R help
I have a dataframe, with 71 samples (rows) and 30 variables. I got linear models for some of the variables,? and I want to join fitted and residuals of these models to the data frame. Sometimes, these vectors have the same length of the dependant variable, but in a few cases, NA values can be found on my data, and therefore, both fitted and residuals have a few rows less than the
