sip disconnects
I'm trying to figure out if this is a nat problem. I have a private network behind a freebsd nat box. The * server is on a static nat, with a private ip of 10.139.10.165. I'm connecting with sjphone as the client from 10.139.10.159. I am calling out using simpletelecom. When connecting directly to simpletelecom using sjphone everything works fine. When I go through * I get

Register Asterisk to FWD via SIP
As described in: With NAT between Asterisk and FWD http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+How+to+connect+to+FWD Apparently it doesn't work, but I think the instruction is not complete. Is there a way do defined "Outbound Proxy" for FWD in sip.conf ??? Why do I need port forward 5060 and 10000 - 20000 to asterisk box? When I setup Sipura behind NAT (using NAT and proxy

Creating a SIP gateway for use behind NAT
Hi all, Here is a graphical diagram of what I am trying to do: <SIP> <---> <GW/NAT/*> <--IAX--> <*> <--TDM400P--> <Analog Phone> So I have incoming SIP calls go to the * on the GW, which I then want to forward over IAX to the second * box behind the NAT GW. If I was to place a call on the second * box, it should then forward to the * on the NAT GW

Asterisk, SIP and NAT: Help needed!
I've been googling and talking with Libretel about my setup and the fact that incoming calls to my asterisk box through the Libretel number reach my box (I hear the greeting being played) but then don't accept DTMF. Here is a rough diagram of my setup: Asterisk | server | NAT <------------ Libretel | router | Note that there are NO SIP

New user - problem getting dtmf tones through VOIP providers?
Just setting up Asterisk. I'd like to be able to dial out through VOIP providers and have customers type in a code in response to a prompt. So far, I've been able to set things up to make the call and play the prompt. However, my problem now is the DTMF tones; they don't register when I call get_data. When I make a call in person (from the DIAX softphone, through a VOIP provider,

Dynamic IAX Server
Hi: I read many documents and I posted my question several times here without luck. I hope someone can help now please. Here is an example to demonstarte my problem: Suppose you manage the FWD server, how do you define an IAX client behind nat so he can receive calls from FWD. NAT client would register with FWD to let it know how to locate it. I just don't see how FWD finds the nat client.

Newbie :SIP ETXTN to SIP EXTN calls
I am new to asterisk and need to dig up some info on how to set it all up. It looks a bit daunting especially all the options available in the .conf files. I have 2 SIP phones, GXP2000 and a budgettone 100. phone1 - 192.168.0.160/24 extension 1000 phone2 - 192.168.0.161/24 extension 1001 Server - 192.168.0.57 I get the following all the time, but can make calls between the 2 extensions,

IAX & FWD, No authority found?
Hi Folks, Just wondering if anyone can give me some pointers, I'm configuring Asterisk to talk to FWD's new IAX service. The asterisk server is behind an iptables NAT Firewall, with port 5036 forwarded: $IPTABLES -t nat -A PREROUTING -p udp -d $EXTERNAL_IP --dport 5036 -j DNAT --to-destination 172.16.20.200:5036 I can make outgoing calls just fine, but when I receive an inbound call

Any other "free" toll free SIP providers out there?
FWD (Free World Dialup) allows any SIP call to US toll free numbers via * 18xxzzzyyyy at fwd.pulver.com This works WITHOUT the need to be registered at FWD so in my dialplan I have something like: exten => _8.,1,Dial(SIP/fwd.pulver.com/*${EXTEN:1},60,r) exten => _8.,2,Hangup And I just dial 8-1-8xxyyyzzzz and presto ... calls go through just fine 99% of the time. I'm wondering if

is IAX required for firewall and router?
I'm trying to understand IAX and whether or not it would solve my difficulties: 'The primary goals for IAX were to minimize bandwidth used in media transmissions, with particular attention drawn to control and individual voice calls, and to provide native support for NAT (Network Address Translation) transparency. Another goal is to be easy to use behind firewalls.'

Working with FWD, IPTel, SIPPhone?
I'll admit it. I'm a asterisk newbie (but no stranger to telephony). The setup is simple: two Grandstream BudgeTel 100 phones (SIPPhone specials) on a private segment calling to a Linux box acting as the segment's firewall with a leg on our public network. The phones are setup as SIP/phone1 (x1000) and SIP/phone2 (x1001), respectively (thanks to the Asterisk HOWTO). Getting IAX

SIP client cannot connect to Asterisk
Hi: We have got SIP clients connecting to our Asterisk fine with a DSL connection behind router (NAT), but when we bring the Sipura 2000 ATA to a Rogers Cable connection behind a Netgear router (NAT), the SIP clients aren't able to reach the Asterisk at all. We enabled the SIP debug in Asterisk, and it doesn't see any request coming from these SIP clients, and we also tried the to use a

Strange Sip (FWD, SipGate and such) problem
Hi all I use sipgate and FWD but seem not to get it going. I do not have NAT on the asterisk box (static ip). The asterisk box has 2 network interfaces. One internal and one external. Now when I make an call to a FWD or SipGate number all I get is -- Executing NoOp("SIP/113-6d2e", "") in new stack -- Executing Goto("SIP/113-6d2e",

Does externalip= do anything to help with SIP behind a Linux based NAT router?
I'm just curious if I was to place my * box behind a a FW/NAT box running linux, if my SIP calls will still work. Box right now is a RH9 computer using iptables as the FW. I wouldn't mind placing my * box behind it, but I'm wondering if anyone has actually gotten NAT working with *? Thanks, -- +------------------------------------------+ |Leif Madsen -

IAX <> IAX trunking... DP cache?
I'm attempting to get two Asterisk 0.4.0 PBXes to communicate with one another using IAX/IAX2 trunks. I've managed to get a semi-functional NAT Firewall working as a PBX (with Asterisk running directly on the firewall itself), but there are issues with bind()ing to various interfaces which is causing outbound SIP issues. To get around these issues, the idea is to do something like

Security and SIP
I've now setup SIP for: - internal softphones - registering with external providers (like FWD) for making calls - receiving calls from theese providers For the latter step, it was necessary to forward ports from my NAT to the asterisk server: 5060 + range of ports mentioned in rtp.conf. I was just wondering about how to make this setup as secure as possible. Here's what I've done so
