SJphone behind NAT/Firewall without sound
Hi. I need connect some LAN stations with SJphone to an Asterisk Server published on Internet. My Lan Clients access to Internet using a small linux firewall/proxy server. I use the next firewall script. That is a simple script with default policy ACCEPT, and NAT to share Internet. I can connect to the asterisk server, authtenticate the users in the server, and dial to any extension, but

OK to have Asterisk and clients behind firewalls?
Hi To investigate the UNREACHABLE issue I'm having, I need to have confirmation that it's OK for the Asterisk server to be behind a NAT router, and also have clients elsewhere on the Net behind their own NAT router? I know that clients must use STUN to resolve their public IP and punch UDP holes in their firewall, but is there something special that must be done in the configuration

NAT connections STUN etc
Hi all, Love tinc by the way. It's a great VPN. I'm having issues with 2 nodes always talking through an intermediate node. My set up is a VPS in a cloud somewhere that's running tinc and 2 other nodes - one a roaming laptop (always NAT'd) and the other a server behind a dynamic IP home broadband connection (Not NAT'd but firewalled). Neither the laptop nor the home

IAX and Jitter problem
Hello, I've been playing around with * for quite a while now, and have run into a problem that I just cannot seem to figure out. When using * and any IAX client (I have tested with GnoPhone and both clients from iaxclient.sourceforge.net) I have incredibly bad jitter on the connection. What I'm running is a P3-1Ghz machine with 512mb ram for a server. The other end has been

Adit 600 - Getting Dial Tone
Hello, I have an Adit 600 (3 FXS cards) hooked up to a digium T1 card in my asterisk box. I 'connected' the slots to the a:1 T1 interfaces via the command line. The slots (3 fxs) are configured with 'ls' signaling. I configured the T1 card with the same line settings as the T1 interfaces on the adit and I get green lights on both the T1 card and the T1 interface on the adit (so

GXP2000, Linksys RV082 Firewall / NAT, Registrations
Hello, We have several clients with GXP2000 in their network and behind NAT. We have one particular client that has several GXP2000 behind a Linksys RV082 VPN Firewall/Router which is doing NAT services. According to SIP packet inspection, it detects it's a symmetric NAT. The problem we have is that even though we have configured Asterisk AND the GXP2000 to register every 60 minutes, they

A linksys SPA921 behind NAT and firewall
I've got someone sat in a home-office with an SPA921 behind NAT, and most probably a firewall. I've got a STUN-server running, and calling in from the SPA921 to our Asterisk box works fine - though I had to open the firewall for UDP traffic on port 10000-20000. Calling from our Asterisk to the SPA921 doesn't work. I'm guessing this is due to the NAT/firewall on the other side,

SMB/NMBD configuration troubles.
Folks, I am stumped! I have followed every tech tip I could find and I am still unable to complete my SMB installation. Specifically, I fail Test 4 and Tests 9 and 10. I believe the problem has something to do with the NMBD configuration. Below are the parameters of our system. Any help is greatly appreciated. [nbdkit PATCH] file: Add trim support
We already have support in the file driver for punching holes during .zero with the may_trim flag (via FALLOC_FL_PUNCH_HOLE), so we should use the same mechanism to support .trim. Note that the NBD spec says that trim is advisory (we can return success even if we did nothing); but at the same time, it's nicer to avoid advertising the feature if we know for sure we can't do it, so we also

Remote Voicemail Retrieval...
Hello list, I want to listen to voicemails on my * box from a phone that is not local to my pbx. I.e., from my cellphone or my PSTN work line etc. I'm aware that I can forward VM to email or use a web interface but that is not always practical. Other than doing an IVR type arrangement or a phone number dedicated to VM access is there a way to do this? On my old POTS line I used to be

[PATCH] file: Zero support for block devices and NFS 4.2
If we may not trim, we tried ZERO_RANGE, but this is not well supported yet, for example it is not available on NFS 4.2. ZERO_RANGE and PUNCH_HOLE are supported now on block devices, but not on RHRL 7, so we fallback to slow manual zeroing there. Change the logic to support block devices on RHEL 7, and file systems that do not support ZERO_RANGE. The new logic: - If we may trim, try PUNCH_HOLE -

Wasn't there a TV series in the 1960s about a US soldier who got made up to general thanks to the accidental over punching of paper tape? Headless Linux system for Asterisk
Because of space limitations and because of the location of the punch-down blocks, my * server is located on the shelf in a coat closet. Sadly, there is not enough space (or ventilation) for the monitor and keyboard. This will all change when we move to new quarters, but... Does anyone have experience running Linux/Asterisk without a monitor? What, if any, are the issues? TIA

ssh - alternate ports, and host verification
I have a centos box that will need to ssh into 2 other centos boxes (with keys). Now one of these boxes is a firewall, and another is a system behind the firewall. I have rules in my firewall to punch into the system behind the FW. Now if i connect to the IP (sine the public one is shared), anytime i connect to the other system, I get the host verification failed error and have to
