Redhat 9 Music on hold
I have read every thread, I have Redhat 9, Asterisk 1.0.6, 2 T1 lines
connected via TE405P. Everything works great, except MOH. I added an
exten with MusicOnHold(30), and it plays just fine. Conferences have
music when no one is in. I have SIP phones. When I place a call on hold,
the CLI give no indication the call is on hold. I have set
musiconhold(default) everywhere, removed it from everywhere,

Asterisk in front of Toshiba CTX
I have googled, and wiki'ed until blue. Is it possible to put
T1---*----Toshiba CTX ? I have a TE405P, with one interface programmed
for the T1, I am not sure how to program the 2nd port to mimick the T1
to the Toshiba. The Zapata.conf

That's the main reason I opened this thread as it surprised me a bit ...

Even in handset audio circuit ?
I was thinking that any handset is a potential echo source due to this audio
circuit ...
Do you agree ?

MOH - 3 processes of mpg321 taking 20%CPU each -normal ?
No, DON'T use mpg321, it will not work. Make sure you're using mpg123. See
the wiki.

OT: ManxPower 2005 European Tour
I've helped a lot of people on the mailing lists and on IRC #asterisk.
and wanted to let people know that I will be in Europe between May 19
and June 21. Stockholm (VON 2005), Brussels (holiday/vacation),
Amsterdam (holiday/vacation), and Madrid (Astricon). There are
several weeks during my trip that I have no current plans for and may
add other cities to my itinerary.

Re: Asterisk-Users Digest, Vol 12, Issue 171
The cheap ones on EBay won't work with the SC420 server. I have one and
can't make any of the clones work. I do have one TDM40B card for analog
stations that works well. The problem with the SC420 is that it won't let
you set the interrupts yourself and you end up with interrupts being shared.

MPG123 with Asterisk on debian (one of our interesting experiences)
This was just a recent personal experience....
Maybe I missed a thread on this:
We recently installed asterisk (CVS-HEAD) on a debian system using 2.6
kernel and the enhanced RTC for all timing.
Also a custom compiled kernel for the CPU on the box (P4).
We had a strange thing happen in that with Debian's MPG123 package:
Sound files played in asterisk/mpg123 were heard at literally 1/10th

RE: Asterisk-Users Digest, Vol 6, Issue 463
Folks,
Eric is spot-on--both phones are happy with the modified
${CALLERIDNAME} value since I removed the quotes in the call to
SetCIDName(). I've replace my calls to SetCallerID() since I think using
SetCIDName() is cleaner.
					Cheers,

MOH - 3 processes of mpg321 taking 20%CPU each - normal ?
Hi,
I have P4 2.8 HT machine with Asterisk. I spot 3 processes of mpg321 taking
20% of CPU each even when no call is made to Asterisk or any other PBX
activity is on ?
Is this behaviour normal ?
Regards,
Robert.

managed without Realtime and I see no way how to put AEL into DB. Maybe it's
possible?
We are storing "exact-match" info into DB and all _X., etc stuff we have in
extensions.conf. So no speed issues with large systems.
Also: Any reason to "not" use extensions.conf?
What AEL can do better then extensions.conf?
Many people still use vi. Because it can do everything what

RE: Asterisk-Users Digest, Vol 8, Issue 152
I understand Asterisk is more like a B2BUA. But when this INFO request is
sent to asterisk, asterisk is supposed to bridge the request to the other
endpoint, right? In what situation, it decides to send a reply; in what
situation, it decides to bridge the request?
What is the role of gateway in SIP world, a proxy, a B2BUA or something
else?
Thank you,
Wei

On Hold music
This may sound kind of crazy and I maybe missing something. But are you
placing the call on hold so you can hear the hold music. This may not
be the case but you may have to place the call on hold to here the
music.
Also you mentioned sound, you do not need a sound card in the asterisk
box to use this hold music feature.
Hope this helps.

SV: IAX - only one way traffic
Yes, I am aware of that as well. I guess I was wondering if other people have experienced the same problems, and - in the event of a possible solution - how they solved the problem. Is there something that can be done on our Asterisk box or at the provider's side?

MOH problems
I am trying to music on hold but I am having all sorts of problems with it.
I am running RH9 and the latest version of Asterisk as of yesterday.
Here is what I did to test it:
1. I manually deleted the mpg123 softlink to mpg321.
2. I downloaded mpg123-0.59r-1.n0i.src.rpm, compiled and installed the
the archive and loaded ztdummy.o module.
3. I threw a couple extra files in the mohmp3 directory

mp3 playing distorted, or very slowed down... unintelligible.
I have the following in extensions.conf:
[global]
MP3ROOT=/var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3
[default]
exten => 1111,1,Answer                  ; Answer the line
exten => 1111,2,DigitTimeout,5 ; Set Digit Timeout to 5 seconds
exten => 1111,3,MP3Player(${MP3ROOT}/sample-hold.mp3)
The command that runs is:
14030 pts/0 S 0:00 /usr/bin/mpg123 -q -s -b 1024 --mono -r 8000
