Using Zyxel Analog Telephone adapter with a GSM gateway

Cellsocket Report Card (GSM/PCS to FXS gateway)
I recently purchased a Cellsocket, which is a cradle that holds some older Nokia GSM/PCS phones and converts them to an FXS interface. My test phone is a Nokia 5190 on the T-Mobile GSM network. After going through the ordeal of unlocking the phone (T-Mobile provided unlock codes that didn't work), I finally got it up and running. The good: - Disconnect supervision works - Outstanding sound

OT: HOWTO: Query channel state on an Ateus Voice Blue GSM gateway
Because the VoiceBlue is only 4 channels and I am supporting 100 cell users, I needed a way to overflow calls to the PRI of all 4 channels are full. Unfortunately, there seems to be no built-in mechanism to determine if the gateway is full, so this script parses the output of "asterisk -rx sip show channels XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX" to determine the number of channels currently in use. Hope this

Cellsocket update
When I posted my last message about the cellsocket, I hadn't thought to try incoming calls. (I bought the cellsocket to use only for outgoing calls.) Unfortunately, I cannot get the cellsocket to work for inbound calls. CallerID does not work even though I have a GSM phone. The cellsocket answers the phone and then starts ringing any attached phones after answering. Most importantly,

Asterisk as a GSM-Gateway? Possible or not??
Hi, although I have spent a lot of time on searching the wiki and Google, I didn't find an answer to the question whether it is possible to use Asterisk as a GSM-Gateway. The wiki mentions the Ateus VoiceBlue Box, but I don't want another box but integrate the GSM gateway directly into the Asterisk Box. I found another posting that this feature is under development, does anyone know

Appending a # to a dial-out number
Hi all, I've just connected a cellsocket to my * server so that I can keep call costs low for outgoing calls to mobile phones. I'm using an old fashioned 5110 cellsocket (because I have a few of these phones and I think that they are very reliable). For those that don't know the cellsockets they convert a mobile phone into a POTS line. The cellsocket has a funny dialtone but that

Voiceblue and slow dialling
Hi, I have recently started a job as a system administrator, and as part of my responsibilities I have to look after an asterisk system. Quite impressed with it, but have one or two niggling issues. One of the last things my predecessor here did, was install a VoiceBlue mobile gateway unit, and though it seems to work ok, nearl 20 seconds pass from dialling a number to the call connecting, which

GSM phones, bluetooth and general happiness
When I installed my first home-PBX three years ago, I was looking at "cellsockets" -- devices which will accept certain cellular phones and provide an RJ11 jack, generating the ring-voltage and recognizing DTMF, which in turn makes your cell-phone look like a CO line. Pretty cool stuff, in theory, but it just didn't seem to be worth the cost, especially since it locks you to a

Dialing a # in phone number?
Hi, I have not been successful in working out how to dial a # within a phone number. EG: exten => _12345,1,Dial(Zap/1/0868563823#,5,t) or exten => _08XXXXXXXX,1,Dial(Zap/1/${EXTEN}#) I'm trying to append a # character so that I can use a cellsocket (mobile phone to pots adapter) connected to an x100p. I think that asterisk is simply ignoring the # character. The docs on
