Joining NT4 workstations to a Samba 3 Domain
Linux: Fedora Core 2 Samba: 3.0.3 OpenLDAP: 2.1.29 I've noticed a couple of other messages in this month's archives that suggest they're having the same problem as I, but so far no resolution has been reported. I've got a new Samba domain up and running with LDAP that allows me to join Win2K and XP clients, but not NT4 workstations. I've added the machine account with the

Shared Mailbox Questions
Hi All, I've pored over the wiki, read through the archive, and have what I believe should be a working set-up, but I can't seem to get my shared namespace to work correctly. Any guidance would be much appreciated. I started off using a flat file for acl_shared_dict and ran into the same problem recently reported with the shared-database file getting chown'd to the first user to

Doorbells & Door Intercoms
Hi, Does anybody know of a VoIP compatible doorbell or door intercom unit? I've contemplated buying a cheap SIP phone, ripping it apart, and putting it inside an IP66 sealed unit... It would need: - At least one speed-dial key, or some way to make every button dial the same extension number - PoE (power over ethernet), so I can power it off the central switch - cheap enough to rip apart

R kicking us out
Dear R People: I am using R for teaching purposes in a large classroom. Each computer has its own copy of R. However, every once in a while, about half of us will get thrown out of R, for no apparent reason. By the way, it has happened in other classrooms as well. Has anyone else run into this, please? If so, how have you solved this problem, please? Thanks in advance! R for Windows

Enchance Me 1.004 Released!
Today I released Enhance Me 1.004 for AMP 1.10 and Asterisk @ Home 2.2. These utilities allow for speed dialing, a revised version which uses AMP to store speed dial numbers and NAMES so that only operators of the web interface can add and delete speed dials. Data is stored in mysql instead of Asterisks' DB. This stops the waste of the 300 series extension numbers. Instructions on

Dynamic changes while Shorewall running?
I am looking at using Shorewall in a local college. There will be a default set of firewall rules, but for some lessons certain classrooms will be granted full Internet access (this will be done by the lecturer via a web interface). I am seeking suggestions for the best way to implement this under Shorewall. I think it might make sense to make each classroom a separate zone, but is there a dynamic

Significant performance problems
Hi all, I'm sure my issues are a result of misconfiguration, but I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm getting pressure to move us back to GroupWise, which I desperately want to avoid :-/ We're running dovecot 1.2.9 on Ubuntu 10.4 LTS+postfix. The server is a VM with 1 vCPU and 4GB of RAM. We serve about 10,000 users with anywhere from 500-1000 logged in

XCP GUI management
Xen List After planning for a year to move my Xen 3.4 classrooms to XCP I''m now making an effort. With the old system I wrote many lines of bash scripts around the xm command to group and manage my VMs. I used sudo to grant privileges for each student to start, stop, console into, reboot, and wipe their VMs without any interaction from me. Now with XCP I had the hope of moving to the

Multiple line phones with different contexts
Hey all, Has anyone had any issues with phones having multiple lines that are in different contexts? We've got a couple phones that we're testing intercom functionality for, and I'm noticing that for some strange reason, no matter what line we use, the phones tend to be completely in one context or another, not segregated like I would expect. Our contexts look like this: context
