Polycom IP600 - Worth the extra $$
Hello,
I am looking at the Polycom phones.
The ip600 has a very nice screen, is that the only real advantage over
the ip500 and ip300..
Is it worth the extra dollars?
Kind regards

Bandwidth Management
Hi,
understand that the bandwidth utilized for each call is dependent on the
codec used, wonder if Asterisk can monitor the total bandwidth utilized
and restrict/reject new calls when the resource is insufficient to
support them reliably?

Bandwidth
Just a little question about icecast. I guess the streaming technique
used is unicast. In that case, how is it that the bandwith used does not
grow up as several listeners connect ? Or is the bandwith written in the
icecast interface the bandwith used per listener ?
Thank you for your answers.

Bandwidth requirements for 1, 000, 000 minutes a month
This may expose my ignorance, but here goes :)
I've been asked to figure out how much bandwidth would be needed to handle
1,000,000 minutes a month.
Here's the environment:
) All calls are received via SIP.
) All calls use the ulaw codec.
) Calls average 10 minutes in duration.
) The "busiest" hour will account for 10% of the daily total.
This is how I'm figuring

Limiting bandwidth
Greetings,
Scenario:
Centos box with eth1 (10.0.0.0/24) and eth0 (192.168.0.0/24)
segment on eth0 has access to full bandwidth of uplink
Both are on 100mbps switches
Requirements:
bandwith on segment on eth1 needs to be throttled to different speeds - say
32, 64, 128kbps and the such. Required for application performance testing
purposes.
As usual my girlfriend google is very verbose.

Shaping incoming bandwidth
Hello Everyone,
i''m having problem in limiting bandwith on my external interface in the
server.
i''m having a network here which is online via a linux server with cbq
compiled in kernel.
i''m having eth0 as internal network card,
eth 1 as external network card
my internet bandwith line is 8kbps on eth1
i want to limit this 8kbps to 4kbps at eth1 and no shaping on

Adding patch to Centos Kernel - early build failure
Hi Guys
I'm trying to add the patch mentioned in this thread to the plain Centos
kernel
http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2008-August/062845.html
I've followed the directions on the wiki for building a custom kernel,
but after applying all the patches it fails with:
make[1]: *** [nonint_oldconfig] Error 4
make: *** [nonint_oldconfig] Error 2

Bandwidth, again, can someone check my math?
I want to put a single voice-mail box on a remote server, where I have
metered bandwidth. Before I do this, I want to make sure it's feasible.
Could someone confirm the following math for me?
G.711, at 64kpbs has a rated network load of 88kbps.
So for each second of conversation, about 11KB are crossing the wires in
each direction.
That means for a minute of two-way conversation, 1.3MB

Feedback on you manual
Dear Sir/Madam:
Great thanks for R project and you contribution.
I am Liping Liu, a beginner of R. Recently, I use R much. I wish you could
improve the manual by making it search engine friendly.
The "Introduction to R" page is too long. I am often redirected to this page
by goole, but I still can not find the content I need easily.
Could you please make it a structured: one page

Which box?
I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'm not finding an answer
anywhere. Do I need a dedicated box to run asterisk, or can I put in my
server (running Fedora) and leverage some of the free cpu cycles and
disk space? Thanks,
Dunc

confidence interval of a average...
I have a sample of lung capacities from a population measured against
height. I need to know the 95% CI of the lung capacity of a person of
average height.
I have fitted a regression line.
How do I get a minimum and maximum values of the 95% CI?
My thinking was that this has something to do with covariance, but how?
My other thinking was that I could derive the 0.975 (sqrt 0.95) CI for the

R: pp plot
hi all
i would like to know if anyone has a reference on how one would place
the "bands" on the pp plot.
i want to test whether or not a certain data set comes from a particular
distribution (not normal).
i've already plotted F(X(j)) vs j/(n+1) where F(x) is the cum dist
function, X(j) is the j'th order statistic and n is the sample size.
a goole search gave arb references

throtling bandwidth
Hi,
My branch office as got a 256Kbps b/w from their service provider at a
very very high rate per Mb. They don''t require 256Kbps at all but the
ISP does not offer anything low. Can we restrict the bandwith to say
64Kbps nothing fancy? How do I go about it?
With warm regards,

tc + bandwidth measurement
I want to implement a snmp-agent to measure the
bandwidth traffic per flow
in a linux router.
Is there any way to use tc in bash scripts in order to
measure the
bandwidth?
In my first thought, the agent would fire repeatedly
tc commands that would
return the rate /flow. Is that speculation correct?
Do you propose an alternative way to measure the
bandwith through an agent.
I found somewhere

traffic shaping - equally distribute bandwidth
Hello!
I am running my linux box as a firewall in a bridge mode. Firewall is
protecting a /24 network. I want to make that the bandwidth
distributes equally to active nodes: if N nodes are accessing the
internet simultaneous then each node gets bandwith/N.
Is there any way to achieve this with shorewall?
Thank you!

Jernej
