RE: Samba locking problems
Hi Bernd,
For now, we have backed down to 2.2.4. This seems to have solved our
problems. This is frustrating, though, since we wanted to upgrade to
at least 2.2.5+patches to possibly improve our situation with
downloadable printer drivers.
In my last post to the Samba mailing list, I mentioned that
downgrading to 2.2.4 fixed my problems and asked for suggestions,

samba and gpfs
Hi all,
I've got question (problem?) regarding samba exporting gpfs filesystem.
My setup is very simple - gpfs client machine with gpfs filesystem
mounted and samba server running on the top of it. I compiled samba with
gpfs support, here is my smb.conf section:

Dear friends:
I have been trying to install MSOffice using Crossover. I have an old

Samba 3.0 stable: make --with-afs fails on SuSE 8.2
Hi All-
I have SuSE 8.2 installed on two different Intel machines, with (as far as
I can determine) all required packages for doing what I'm trying to do
here. Both machines suffer the same problems.
I didn't find any SuSE 8.2 rpms, so I'm trying to build Samba 3.0 (stable)
(24th Sep, 2003) on either of these machines but am having problems with
it.
As root, I did a

puppet: 3.1.1 -> 3.2.1 load increase
Hi,
I recently updated from puppet 3.1.1 to 3.2.1 and noticed quite a bit of
increased load on the puppetmaster machine. I''m using
the Apache/passenger/rack way of puppetmastering.
Main symptom is: higher load on puppetmaster machine (8 cores):
- 3.1.1: around 4
- 3.2.1: around 9-10
Any idea why there''s more load on the machine with 3.2.1?

Using density() and turnpoint to Identify maxima in data
Hi
I have a large dataset which follows a multimodal distribution. And I
would like to identify the maxima. As the data is obtained from a
stochastic simulation, not all maxima in the data are "real maxima of
the dirstribution" but rather small random fluctuations. Unfortunately,
it is not possible for me to run more simulations to smooth the obtained
distribution.

Rsync Memory Issues - Kernel 2.4.18 - Box Hangs
Hi,
Im running a Dell 6450 w/ 4GB of memory, 2 2GB Swap Partitions. Redhat 7.3
kernel 2.4.18 (kernel.org). It runs our images for our site. We use rsync to
sync images from a main image box. It runs fine for maybe 4 days untill all
memory is in cache, and like 7MB of physical memory is free. The box will
hardly do anything, and cache will just keep going up and up untill no more
memory is free.
