Survey: what's the best HTTPd/TFTPd/FTPd to serve up configuration files to sets
I would like to start a discussion centred around the various ways one might serve up configuration files from an Asterisk server (I know, it's better to use a secondary server for all this, but let's talk about a smaller system). The types of things being served would include: - Logo image for sets that support that - XML directory files - XML or raw text configuration files -

A bit of a survey: What do do if you need more than 4 C.O. lines
Folks, In light of all the troubles people report when running more than one TDM400 card in a system, I wouldn't mind hearing what your solution of choice would be when having to connect 5 or more analog telco circuits to an Asterisk. I'll try and compile the answers together and get them into the Wiki, as I figure this could be useful knowledge for the community. TIA, Jim. -- Jim

Any interest in a Canadian Asterisk mailing list?
Just on the off chance that Canadian Asterisk users might be interested in a place to discuss topics specific to the "great white north" (sources, services, telcos, etc.), I created the asterisk-canada mailing list: http://lists.syonex.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-canada or asterisk-canada-subscribe@lists.syonex.com Cheers! Anyone know where a good source of mailing list stats might be found?
Folks, I'm curious to know how the volume of Asterisk-Users rates as far mailing lists go. This list sees over 200 messages per day, which has GOT to put it in the top 5%, doesn't it? I'd love to know if anyone has knowledge of any organization that might maintain such stats. Regards, Jim. -- Jim Van Meggelen jim@vanmeggelen.ca -- No virus found in this outgoing message.

Another Newbie Question
Hey all, My apologies if this sounds blindingly obvious, but am I correct in saying that I can use Asterisk to connect two extensions and make calls between them without needing an actual telephone line at all ? As I said, probably blindingly obvious. but my techies have gone home for the evening and I was looking for an answer before I left. Thanks, Callum -------------- next

Brainstorm: Running Asterisk as cool as possible - AKA solid state.
I would like to ask what people think the best way would be to build a low-power consumption, passively-cooled system. For example, one could use a fanless-Eden (mini-ITX/EPIA) system, but the loss of FPU power would limit performance. The obvious choice for FPU work are the Intels and AMDs, nut they're all power-hungry radiators. Is there something that can offer the quiet, power-savings of

x101p + Nortel ATA2
Hi, Does anyone have any experience connecting Asterisk to a Meridian system using an ATA2 and x101p? The basics work -- I can make outbound calls, receive inbound, and use flash to transfer calls, but certain things do not work, specifically with calls from internal extensions. - Does the Meridian/ATA2 pass any kind of callerid info? We do not have external callerid, but I'm not even

Comparision of IAX2, FWD, iaxtel etc etc.
Hi, I've been setting up * recently and slowly getting to grips with it, however I'm getting rather confused with all the different configs for IAX calls, FWD calls iaxtel etc etc. What I think I need it a basic understanding or even a comparison of these different voip systems (if thats what they are?) I'd like to be able to make calls to other voip users, both in the UK and abroad

RE: [on-asterisk] Brainstorming dual-core and Asterisk
I believe you can assign processors in vmware, and xen as well. So you could probably do something funky like that to try to reduce load. The only thing that probably becomes difficult is trying to manage physical hardware between virtual machines. PRI for Data and Voice
Hi, Currently I only have 1 PRI which I am using for dial-in customers. The line is connected to a Portmaster3. I have never used more than 10 concurrent channels. The calls can be both analog or ISDN. It would be a waste to order another PRI for my Asterisk box. Is there any way of splitting a PRI into 2 PRI's of 15 channels each, or plugging the PRI into the * box and it send the data

Using a sting in variable names
Hi there, I am trying to import 100 files with the names of "vpn 1 .dat" to "vpn 100 .dat" into a respective table calld vpn1 to vpn100. I therfore have created a variable X<-1:100 I not want to use X as a subtitute for the number in my filename, so that I have to write only one function and it does the operation with all files. I have tried every combination i could

File size limitation?
When I run backup and send the output to a file on the server, I get a file limitation of 2g. When I do the same backup to a snap server, there is no problem. Is there a size limitation for a single file? Thanks, Steven C. Henry stevench@xnet.com

Getting "Unable to set XATTR" on libvirt 5.6.0 inside containers
Hi, We are updating KubeVirt to libvirt 5.6.0. Before that we were running on 5.0.0. It seems like something regarding setting xattrs on files has changed, because with libvirt 5.6.0 we are getting the following error: ``` Unable to set XATTR trusted.libvirt.security.dac on /var/lib/libvirt/qemu/domain-410-default_vmi-fedora: Operation not permitted') ``` The main problem is for us is that

SVM unbalanced classes
Hi! I am using R 1.8.1 and the svm of the e1071 package for classification. The problem is that I have unbalanced classes e.g. the first one is much bigger than the second one and therfore the svm is biased to the first class. If I manually adjust the class size the bias disappears. The question is then how to include this unequal class distribution to the svm (e.g. via wheights or costs)?

Two * Questions
We're getting ready to ditch our hosted virtual PBX for an Asterisk solution and I've got a couple questions that probably come from experience; we're looking to host two PBXs on the same box if the PBXs are identified by different DID numbers, and I was curious if: 1. Is it possible to have duplicate extensions between the two PBXs? Eg: 555-1111x100 and 555-2222x100 on same
