Melbourne Asterisk Users meet next Thursday
Hi all,
If you're in Melbourne Australia and interested in Asterisk, you're
invited to join us for a casual evening to talk about Asterisk, VOIP,
networks, and just generally get geeky about IP phone stuff.
Ultimately, I think it would be interesting and useful to turn this
into a monthly get-together, so I'd like to talk about that too.
Anyone with an interest is welcome; from

Asterisk Evening in Melbourne: Feb 2!
Hi all,
Come one come all! We're having the next Asterisk evening at the
Fujitsu Centre for Excellence! This is Fuji's state of the art
show-off centre - they're promising lots of interesting toys to play
with. As usual, we'll be discussing developments in Asterisk land over
the past couple of months. If you've got some interesting toys
yourself, please bring them along!

Grandstream Budgetone BT-101 audio problems
Hi all,
I'm having a really frustrating time with a bunch of BT-101 phones.
They've been trouble-free and working very well for the past several
months. A couple of days ago, some of the phones (but not all of them,
yet) have started acting very strangely. All phones are running
firmware 1.0.6.7, and are identically configured (except for the
user/authenticate/password things) on both the

MS Access, Endnote, among others
Hello,
Has anybody been able to successfully install MS Office XP Pro in Wine? I
don't care much about the whole suite, I need MS Access, but since I have
a bundled cd, I don't have much choice. Apparently several folks have had
similar problems in this list, and I haven't found solutions. Wine-version
is 0.0.20041201-1 Debian unstable package.
I'm not sure I'm starting the

Zap channels in AU hanging up on STD pips
Is anyone having/had a problem with a TDM400P card hanging up on STD
outbound calls as soon as the called party answers.
I'm guessing that * is responding to the STD pips in some way.

Wireless LANs and Asterisk
Has anyone had any experience with wireless LANs and Asterisk?
We have and here are my impressions.
We configured an Asterisk in the office as a precaution to see how it
would work for our own retail customers. Our office is open space, about
800 sq ft. (20x40 area). We use Snom200 and Grandstream SIP phones.
Using the latest Linksys wireless access point (WAP54g) and 3 wireless
bridges

Am I attempting the impossible?
Hi all,
After Googling around a while, I've found bits and pieces of my
puzzle, but never someone who's got the whole thing. Here's what I'm
trying:
- Run MS Access 97 and MYOB
- Under FreeBSD 5.3
- With multiple simultaneous users (X Terminals)
Access 97 and MYOB are the only Windows programs we'll need to run,
everything else will be done with "native"

Monitor calls timeout
Hi all,
We're in a transition between OldPhoneSystem and Asterisk. One of the
things that's needed to be done right now with OldPhoneSystem is the
ability to record calls. I thought "Asterisk can record calls", so I
set about to make it happen. And it does, sort of.
I made a .call file that rings the exension that I want to have
recorded, and barges into the conversation, using

Access 97 on Wine 20041019
Hi all,
I'm having trouble getting Access 97 working with Wine 20041019. Word and
Excel work just fine, as far as I've used them, but Access simply refuses to
start. I've installed off an original installer CD through the WineTools (
2.11jo) utility. I customised the install, removing everything except for
the basic application files for Word, Excel and Access. I've also

What do you name yours
Hello list
we are installing 2 new servers (to run asterisk) shortly, for a
"stand alone" service. Ignoring our current naming convention, we'd
like to name them something.. but we are not sure what.
a consideration is that on the screens of the phones it shows
extension@hostname (eg 3001@telephony) (all extensions are numeric) so
the users will see it everyday

Administrator-installed printers unavailable to regular users
Hi all,
I'm having a very strange problem with printers under 3.0.10, running
on an up to date Gentoo 2005.0 box. Essentially, if I install a
Samba-networked printer on one of our NT workstations as
"administrator", it doesn't show up for all the other users of that
particular machine. It's as if they don't have any printers installed.
What's more, none of these

Asterisk as plain PABX in call centre
Hi all,
I've been lurking here and reading the Wiki for a month or so now,
getting information on the suitability of Asterisk for my
installation.
I'm responsible for the technical stuff at a mostly-inbound call
centre in Melbourne, Australia. Due to our rapid expansion, it's
getting close to the time to put our old beloved Fujitsu 9600 PABX out
to pasture. I'm evaluating

Hi all,
We're having a meeting this coming Thursday, June 1, 7:00 at Pint on

lead a discussion on ENUM and DUNDi: What they are, how they work, and
how they work with Asterisk. Of course there will also be time to talk
about phones and what's new in the Asterisk community.

Caller ID and Call Parking on an analog PSTN line?
Hello everyone. I'm new to Asterisk but got some basic functionality going
last night and I'm just giddy to have my own PBX ;-)
Sorry if these are silly questions:
My Asterisk server has the TDM22B (2 FXO, 2 FXS) interface. I have a very
basic PSTN line coming in from the phone company, I tried to get the most
no-frills line possible (didn't pay for caller ID, voice mail, etc.). I

PAM configuration
To stem the tide of support requests from people who don't read the
INSTALL file when installing OpenSSH and then complain about password
auth failing. I am considering the idea of automagically installing a
PAM file into /etc/pam.d if it exists, PAM support is enabled and no
such file already exists.
I have a couple of questions:
- How is PAM controlled on Solaris? Is there a pam.d

Sweave: pass scale parameter to includegraphics?
Hi all
I'm using Sweave and find it a treat. But one
question:
I use Sweave to create my pictures which are
automatically included into LaTeX. For example,
in the file test.Snw, I may have:
% LaTeX stuff
\begin{figure}
<<fig=true,width=5,height=5>>=
x1 <- seq(1,5, length=10)
x2 <- sin(x1)
plot(x1,x2)

This produces the LaTeX
