Software RAID1 issue
When a new system CentOS-4.4 is built the swap partition is always reversed... Note md3 below, the raidtab is OK, I have tried various raid commands to correct. swapoff -a raidstop /dev/md3 mkraid /dev/md3 --really-force swapon -a And then I get a proper ourput for /proc/mdstat, but when I reboot /proc/mdstat again reads as below, with md3 [0] [1] reversed. [root]# cat /proc/mdstat

mdmonitor not triggering program on fail events
Hi, Can anyone help me with this since I want to get it done "the correct way" I'm trying to make mdmonitor to execute a program when it detects a fail event automatically. Currently, from what I see, init is calling mdmonitor with these options mdadm --monitor --scan -f (note that the --program is not there) and this is in my /etc/mdadm.conf MAILADDR root PROGRAM

Problems reading a backup data DVD
I wrote a bunch of files to a backup DVD about two months ago and now neither of my drives will read it. I get mount errors from "not a directory" to something like "unrecognized file system type" and so on, usually after a really long wait and a notice about how the drive is write-protected (duh). Here's what happened most recently: # mount /dev/hdc /mnt mount: block

Hard Disk Failure
Hi All, I had to reboot a machine as I lost the ssh connectivity to it. I could ping to it though. On rebooting, the dmesg buffer showed the following messsage hdc: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } hdc: dma_intr: error=0x40 { UncorrectableError }, CHS=7520/0/155, sector=1820440 end_request: I/O error, dev 16:02 (hdc), sector 1820440 hdc: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady

Making TIMEOUT work?
I have problems getting the TIMEOUT value work the same way LILO/GRUB does it.. ie it should wait until the timeout and then use the default value. However, it goes straight for the default value without waiting a single second (and a TIMEOUT value of 500 should mean 50 seconds, as it counts in 1/10th of a second, right?) SYSLINUX (isolinux) 2.00 ----8<------8<---- SERIAL 0 38400 TIMEOUT

raid 1 problem
Hi! A few days back ...I upgraded using yum update. I did this on 3 machines of which 2 of the machines are mirrors. I have no problems w/the other 2 machines which leads me to believe that the fault lies in 2.6 but rather I think I have a hard drive failure. while the system is trying to boot up. it goes to: grub stage 2....that's the first thing I seem to find outside of taking forever to

MIrrored drives won't boot after installation
I have a p4 motherboard with 2 ide interfaces, I connect 2 40 GB drives as hda and hdc, I install Centos 4 from a CDROM, and partition the drives as 2 x raid partition each plus a swap partition on hda, the make md0 and md1 to install /boot and / respectively. Install goes well, everything looks great, go to reboot from drives, and all I get is "grub" but no boot. I have tried this ten

"zpool import -f" not forceful enough?
I had to use the labelfix hack (and I had to recompile it at that) on 1/2 of an old zpool. I made this change: /* zio_checksum(ZIO_CHECKSUM_LABEL, &zc, buf, size); */ zio_checksum_table[ZIO_CHECKSUM_LABEL].ci_func[0](buf, size, &zc); and I''m assuming [0] is the correct endianness, since afterwards I saw it come up with "zpool import". Unfortunately, I

How to disconnect the ISO image using virsh
Hello, I can attach disc ISO image to cd-rom from virsh. And I can replace the ISO image from disc1 to disc2 using the 2nd example. (example) attach-disk guest01 /root/disc1.iso hdc --driver file --type cdrom --mode readonly attach-disk guest01 /root/disc2.iso hdc --driver file --type cdrom --mode readonly My question is, how can I disconnect the image from the cdrom drive using virsh. Because,

Bug#595531: xen-utils-common: boot="d" does not boot from CD (documentation issue?)
Package: xen-utils-common Version: 4.0.0-1 Severity: normal This is an offshoot of Bug#588888, but is really a separate issue. It appears that with hvmloader, the disk device names presented to the vm must by from a specific set that hvmloader knows how to emulate. Names like hd[a-c] and sd[a-c] work, but sr0 does not. While this makes sense, when you think about what hvmloader is doing, it is

Ext3 filesystem aborting journal at random times (Maxtor 300GB disk)
Hi, Sorry if this is an old and fixed issue but I can't really seem to find a definitive explanation/fix to this in the mail lists. Ever since I upgraded to FC2 my server randomly decides that it can no longer access the disk and "aborts" the ext3 journal leaving it read-only as expected. I've seen the same errors on other mail list, explained away as disk or disk cable

using audio CDROM with EAC & Suse 10.2 (wine)
I could use some help setting up Exact Audio Copy using wine 0.9.24 and SuSe 10.2 with KDE 3.5xx My problem is finding the audio cd, If I put in a data disk, hal will update /media/.hal.mtab will have an entry and create a temporary mounting point such as /media/new I probably could use that in winecfg to set up a mounting point for wine. However if I insert an audio disk, the hal system

HVMAssist BIOS boot device problem
Hello, The xm config option boot="c" is intended to boot from the "first" harddrive; however, the enumeration of harddrives is independent of device enumeration (hda|hdb|hdc|hdd), leading to unreliable boot device selection. Example A: I am building a Windows HVM appliance which performs file-system level operations over mounted NTFS volumes - for example a file-system
